Here at Nintendo Life we've been anticipating the release of zany physics-based battler Fight Crab for a while now - over two years, in fact. Today publisher and developer Mastiff and partner Calappa Games have announced that the 3D crustacean-based scrapper will be arriving on Switch eShop on 15th September in North America, Europe, and Australia.
The announcement comes with a new preview trailer which you can enjoy above. If you've forgotten the general premise of this crazy crab battler, it involves taking control of a crab and engaging in deadly combat against other creatures using a variety of weaponry, including a whip sword, nunchaku, an axe gun, a chainsaw, and even lightsabers (sorry, "Beam Sabers").
Allow us to refresh your memory with details and some key features from the PR blurb and a few screenshots:
- Claw through 7 Tutorial stages and a Campaign Mode with 34 stages spread out across 7 chapters
- 23 types of playable crab, 48 different weapons, and 11 unique battle arenas
- A variety of matchmaking options including 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, and both offline and online co-op and versus battle modes
- Unlock special Skills like the fabled Kanihameha, the devastating Crab Copter, and more
- Level up your crab, recruit new crabs, and purchase deadly new weapons – build the ultimate crab warrior
- Use the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con™ motion controls to freely manipulate limbs to punch, grab, and flip your way to victory
- Use Photo Mode to capture, share, and immortalize epic confrontations and intense battles
No word on pricing just yet, but we'll update this article when we hear how much this delicious crab meat will cost.
Looking forward to unleashing some massive damage as ol' Snipper here? Let us know below.

This September.
It will be time. For Crab.
Yazzzz!
Me: Come over! I've got Crabs!
Friend: Ugh... you mean the game?
Me: ........yes........
Day one, and don't care! This looks too crazy not to be all kinds of fun ^^.
I’m gonna be keeping an eye out for the reviews of this. It looks like it’s brilliant or complete tosh.
Man, I have been waiting for this to come out, but I will never buy it.
As funny as it is, from what I've watched of it, it looks like it might get stale a little too quickly for my liking.
Will pre-purchase this as soon as it's up if that's an option. Ace Of Seafood is one of my favorite eshop games so I'm ready to dive in on this one!
Yes!! I've been waiting for this! I'm really glad to be living in Japan right now! You can buy it physically from Amazon JP and it includes a soundtrack CD!
Honestly, this game looks like a piece of crab. The developers were very shellfish for taking our money and using it to make this game. Something fishy is definitely going on.
Looks interesting, but probably not for very long... also not expecting it to run well on Switch.
THE GOOSE
🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
IS COOKED
But seriously, looks like great fun — I'll be looking for reviews and feedback to see if this is a "Worth a Rental" game or for keeping.
I hope it's historically accurate and has realtime weapons changing.
@Apportal
Your comment gives me claws for thought. It got stuck in my crawfish.
Anyone else have flashbacks to the E3 PS3 reveal. Giant Crabs!
Crab rave intensifies
CRAB BATTLE!
CRAB BATTLE!
CRAB BATTLE!
LEOIOIOIOIOOOO!
"Crab people, Crab people. Taste like crab, talk like people."
Two obscure references for you lot to ponder and giggle at.
You’re welcome.
I'm so excited for this game! Glad the developer is bringing this to the Switch!
Seeing that made me miss the days of the pricey seafood buffet. I'm that guy that loads up a mountain of crab legs and goes to town. There's a pricey buffet near here that actually cuts the crab legs down the center horizontally so it makes it even easier to just feast on that glorious meat! No manual cracking of the legs required!
It's this generation's Tank! Tank! Tank! And I'm all for it.
You've broken the first 2 rules of Fight Crab!
I've been fighting crabs for years
What a time to be alive
Looks more polished now than the trailer a while back. If it reviews well I might have to get my claws into this. Here’s hoping for gameplay that doesn’t get stale.
Yes! All we need is Crab Champions and the Toaster will accept crabs!
Untitled Goose has serious competition now.
I checking this website daily hoping for some Tony Hawk, GTA or Ridge Racer. And what I get is fighting crabs.
Its only weakness: a boiling pot of water.
I can now look forward to more than "fish friday"!!
@Apportal I SEA what you did there... I SHORE did!!😅
Unironically, my most anticipated eshop game along with Carrion this year.
