Thunderful Publishing and Carry Castle have announced that Source of Madness, a new action-platformer, is headed to Nintendo Switch and PC. The reveal came during yesterday's Guerrilla Collective press conference.
The game is a Lovecraftian rogue-lite take on the action-platforming genre, challenging its players by putting them up against ever-changing monsters. You'll need to fight a variety of different beasts, learn spells, and find your way through an always-changing world.
Thunderful describes Source of Madness as "stylish, yet disturbingly beautiful", which you can assess for yourself in the new trailer up above. We also have a feature list for you right here:
Features:
- Procedural Monsters: Fight unique monsters each play-through, brought to life by machine learning AI.
- Class Altars: Infuse the blood of your enemies into magical altars to unlock permanent bonuses.
- Magical Spell Combat: Find powerful spells and master their wide range of effects and attack patterns.
- Ever Changing Dynamic World: For each new run your world is twisted into something new and fresh.
No release date has been given just yet, so we'll make sure to keep an eye out for more news going forward. Until then, feel free to share your early thoughts with us in the comments below.

If you watch it without sound, it kinda looks like Monty Python's Jabberwocky.
Man, everywhere you look you've got games inspired by Lovecraft nowadays. Why not go for someone else, like, I don't know, Keats or Wordsworth?
@ShaiHulud It took years for the lovecraftian lore to be discovered by others than shoddy TV and movie productions. I'm quite fond of this turn of events. Just wait until all of them get cancelled/pulled from the e-shop in the current political climate!
@Scollurio Agreed. I bet they will accuse H.P. Lovecraft of being a racist or something.
My favourite lovecraftian inspired movie is In the Mouth of Madness. Sam Neill's best role imo.
@Scollurio Good thing I've got a physical copy of Darkest Dungeon!
Make it physical like the other release and I will purchase.
@SquallLeonhart86 Great movie, really love it too! Well HPL is a controversial figure for a long time already, just look up what his cat was called like... Still, censoring or destroying literature and knowledge is just wrong. You can learn even from the most despicable ideas, even if it's only "what not to do". Should we forget about the holocaust? Definitely not.
