Launching on Nintendo Switch later this week is Pixboy, a retro-inspired platformer that's sure to flood you with lovely '90s-based nostalgia.
With a limited colour palette, groovy chiptune music and plenty of platforming to beat, Pixboy really is giving us the retro vibes in the trailer above. The game features 40 levels with nearly 30 different enemies to contend with, as well as four powerful bosses that stand between you and your goal.
The game's world has more than 150 secret rooms to find, and you'll also need to be on the lookout for special coins that can be swapped for new theme colours resembling your favourite retro consoles like the Game Boy.
We don't have pricing for the game at the time of writing, but we do know that's planned to launch on Switch this Thursday, 11th June.
Will you give this one a go if the price is right? Tell us below.

So it comes out in 3 days, yet nobody knows the price.
I don't even care how much this costs, it looks great and because the graphics aren't crazy HD, the devs would have had a lot of space to fill with more game. Too many games these days are too short for my liking because the majority of the cart or disc is taken up with flashy graphics... just like West of Loathing, this looks to do things a little differently and I for one am on board with that!
It doesn't get any more limited than 1 bit of color depth.
Looks pretty good actually, it looks more like a TI-83 game.
Looks cute lol
My friends and I used to make notebooks upon notebooks of these videos games we would give each other to play. Like, pencil drawn levels and pages you turn as you progress along with your finger. Like dragging your index finger along a path across the page through obstacles and along platforms. Mine were mostly based on Sonic with loops and ramps and platforms.
This is the first game ever that actually looks like if we were to transpose those notebooks directly into a game. Something about the signs pointing to Desert and Cyberspace, etc. From this alone, I’m going to buy this. But I wish it were coming to 3DS as well! I’d rather play it on that.
When it comes to this type of thing I would rather just play actual classics from the era.
I wish I was strong willed enough to resist this game lol 🙈
I reckon a fiver...
The graphics look very simplistic, but it might still be fun.
