It seems like someone at Nintendo HQ got a little ahead of themselves with regards to a social network post for an upcoming Splatoon 2 update.
A tweet went out today which mentioned a patch containing "minor adjustments to a variety of weapons" for the popular online shooter, but the tweet was deleted not long afterwards, suggesting that it was posted earlier than was planned. Nintendo had previously stated that another update for the game would be coming in April, so it's not like it's a surprise – it's just odd that the post was nuked.
While Splatoon 2 is unlikely to get a massive update again, Nintendo is clearly continuing to tweak the game's balance to ensure players remain happy – and tinkering with the myriad weapons available is naturally an ongoing process. The most recent update – Version 5.1.0 – arrived in January and was a multiplayer-focused update that changed a bunch of weapons in the game.
Are there any weapons you'd like to see rebalanced in Splatoon 2? Let us know with a comment.

Splatoon 2 was/is a lot of fun. But after new maps and events stopped coming to the game, I largely moved on. Too many games I want to play to also spare the time for an "endless" multiplayer online shooter.
I've clocked upwards to 800 hours in that game, and still itch to jump back in every so often. But like @Heavyarms55 said, there's just not as much appeal after they stopped adding anything new to the game.
Honestly, I'm not upset that they stopped adding weapons or maps. It's the lack of Splatfests that really gets me
I agree with what both of you said. It's a game that you can of course go back to, but it feels a lot "emptier" since all of the usual updates and Splatfests we had become accustomed to ran dry. Still one of my favorite games though, and I'll be looking forward to the eventual Splatoon 3.
Probably a scheduled tweet that accidentally wasn't pushed back for a scheduled update that intentionally was because of the pandemic.
Splatoon 2 was definitely a lot more fun during those first 2 years, but I still hop back every now and then for some Salmon Run
@DaCh33f Salmon Run is honestly my favorite mode. I wish it got more love! I wanted more features for it. A harder mode where you could choose your preferred weapon, and an 8 player mode on bigger maps.
I have this game and really feel I missed out due to buying it late (just before Christmas).
I’m having fun, just not as much as I thought I would (didn’t play the first one) a lot of this will of course be due to being 30 and having no friends with a switch to play with haha. But those splatfests sure sound fun!
Will be interested in a third game for sure.
This is the best shooter game ever made. Love the boss fights and immersion the game has. You really feel apart of the world. Would love a Slaton movie Nintendo, stop being lazy. Yall starting to turn into Sony and Xbox. We want more from 1st party, not less.
@mesome713 "Yall starting to turn into Sony and Xbox. We want more from 1st party, not less."
I was going to ask what this even means, but then I remembered that pretty much everything you post is fanboyish and/or nonsense drivel, so I think I'm good 👍🏻
Thank you Splatoon 2! Love this game so much. Put in a solid 100 hours into this game which is quite high for me. I generally play 30-40 hours in a game and then move on but it kept me coming back for more. I wonder if Splatoon 3 will come out on Switch or will Nintendo wait for the next console. I think about the same thing for Mario Kart 9.
@Desrever I love the core gameplay of Splatoon so much it’ll never get old for me, but I can see where you’re coming from. Personally, I would have been more excited for Splatfests if they weren’t Turf War only - it’s by far my least favorite mode.
@clvr Means they needs to produce more content, they starting to develop like Sony and Xbox. They getting lazy. I don't want them just developing little bit.
Splatoon 3 will still be a long way off I'm sure so it'd be nice if they decided to surprise us with some more Splatoon 2 content between now and then. I've put over 1,000 hours into the game but I don't think I've played since the final Splatfest.
@Hagemaru Personally I think that's just a case of people reading too much into things but happy to be proven wrong.
@Hagemaru Three years since launch but only one since they stopped adding content to the game. They said in July last year that they hadn't started developing Splatoon 3 so if they were to release it this year they were either lying or made it in a year. Seems unlikely, especially with Animal Crossing also being finished off since then.
@Desrever I think we should have a quarantine Splatfest announced. After all Nintendo have suddenly been doing Mario Kart 8 tournaments lately so why not?
Whatever Nintendo's doing now with Splatoon 2, it doesn't interest me, to say the least. As great as Splatoon 2 is, it doesn't seem like THE Splatoon game for the Nintendo Switch, considering the game still felt smaller than other AAA Nintendo games and basically removed the gimmicky stuff that Splatoon 1 had. The gameplay and content felt very standard to the point where a sequel is pretty much expected.
However, I'm willing to bet that a certain Splatoon 3 would be released in 2022 or sometime closer to the "end" of the Switch's life-cycle. I very much doubt we'd get anything big, Splatoon-related, this year or next year.
