The American actor Elijah Wood, best known for his role as the hobbit Frodo in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, appears to be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch like the rest of us.
According to Polygon, Wood recently visited the island of Twitter user directedbyrian, after the Animal Crossing player said they had a turnip sell price of 599 Bells. He couldn't resist and sent a DM their way:
As you can see, Elijah's avatar looks spot on. He's also very polite – making time for photos, and asking permission to pick fruit.
So next time you publicise your turnip prices on social media, if they're high enough, you might get a visit from Elijah.

THEY'RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO NEW HORIZONS
Holy hell that's adorable.
Also if you haven't seen it yet search up Conan's video he did playing FFXV with Elijah, thank me later
That's awesome!
Animal Crossing is turning into the Pokemon Go of the quarantine months.
Elijah seems to be a genuinely nice guy.
I am surprised he plays it. Isn't it a baby game cause you have to use your hands??
Great guy! Wish he would hit me up and visit my island.
You have to use your hands to play this? That's like a baby's toy.
@Tasuki Well, Elijah Wood is a huge gamer, by his own admission. And he was the voice for Spyro in The Legend of Spyro Trilogy.
And nice Back to the Future reference, by the way.
Great, now the island residents are all clamoring to have a Second Breakfast. Oy!
Damn, my Cranny was buying turnips for 601 last week, and I had a few people over from Discord to take advantage of it. Seems I should have advertised on Twitter too
@AstroTheGamosian Right I knew he was a gamer. I believe when he was on the set of LotR he had a GBA that he would play quite often.
And then Tom Nook stole the One Ring.
Just kidding. Awesome news.
I love the fact that he makes so many dark, twisted horror movies these days... and then plays something as wholesome as Animal Crossing in his spare time.
Elijah Wood, Jeff Goldblum and Terry Crews should host an Animal Crossing podcast
@TeslaChippie you're welcome
@TeslaChippie About everyone I know has seen the majority of Clueless Gamer segments. I'll thank Conan and his writers for such a brilliant bit.
@8itmap_k1d Yes! Some of them are more effective than others, but they are always at the very least mildly interesting. Daniel Radcliffe, too, has followed a similar path: starring in smaller, concept-driven movies after becoming a part of a massive franchise. Love 'em both.
Just a dude doing stuff.
@FrowningCoach indeed celebrities playing games. Who would have thought that was possible.
My turnip prices ALWAYS suck!
This would be the highlight of my life!!!! I will be advertising on Twitter it seems 😂
@Robzilla Never knew I needed it untill I read your comment. That really should happen!
599 Bells per turnip??? I don't blame him....
Watched a video where he answers the most searched questions on Google. Seems quite the laugh and down to earth. Casually asking for fruit and codes like no one will care seems about normal for him after seeing that video. Haha
Sorry not sure if I read the article correctly, but can someone explain how to get ‘Elijah Wood’ on my island? I’ve tried chopping both fruit trees and pine trees, but all that comes out is hard wood, light wood and like... wood wood...
Do you find Elijah trees on a special mystery island, like bamboo? The article mentioned something about needing turnips... do you have to plant turnips and then chop the turnip trees?
Please help!
Wait... so now it's suddenly okay, to report on stuff like this on NL? 🤔
**** is so greedy, going there for turnip prices and picking other people's fruit. He ain't no better than the rest of us!
I'm not a big fan of the guy but I love this story regardless. I'm glad he's able to enjoy this game and can even connect with the fans some like this!
@Likethepear You are not alone. Just saying.
Meanwhile my turnip price is 62 today. The system is rigged I tell ya!
Cool that he stopped by though. Frodo is my dude.
Be amazing if he turned off their campfires and sent a 'put it out you fools!'
In all fairness I couldn't care less.
@johnvboy You clicked the article and posted a comment. Trust me, you could care less.
@KayFiOS
Nah fella, I only checked for the comments.
How is he always so gosh darn polite and friendly?
@johnvboy So you don't have any opinion on this, but are curious what other people have to say about it? That's still caring.
@KayFiOS,
I suppose it you put it like that, but my main purpose was to post I did not care what a celebrity did with their time, the sooner this madness ends and they can all get back to work, the better.
@Tasuki POINTS but Baby's Toy
