The Pokémon Company has teased a new piece of information for the upcoming mythical creature, Zarude.
The Pokémon, which still isn't available to obtain in Pokémon Sword and Shield on Switch, will learn a brand new move called 'Jungle Healing' when it reaches Level 90. The move recovers HP and status conditions of Zarude and ally Pokémon. Here's an official description:
In this Grass-type status move, the Pokémon wraps its vines around trees and absorbs their energy, then releases that energy combined with its own. Healing power radiates around the area and heals both the user and its ally Pokémon, restoring their HP and curing them of any status conditions.
Note: Within Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, only Zarude can learn Jungle Healing. However, it is possible other Pokémon may be able to learn this move in future games.
That's all we know about the move so far, but we do have a couple of new screenshots - including one which sees the move in use (see above). More, older screenshots can be found here.
How western players will get their hands on Zarude is still uncertain at present, although it has been revealed that Japanese fans will be able to receive codes by pre-booking tickets to the upcoming film, Pokémon the Movie: Coco. Those codes will be redeemable from 15th June, so we still have a little while to wait before we get to truly see Zarude in action.

That’s cool that they reward you for leveling him up.
Cool move wasted on a Pokemon that will never be used in competitive play.
@Octane with that team-heal move are you sure he's not an asset?
@graysoncharles We'll learn more when the Pokemon film he stars in comes out. I think he's a fantastic reference to Tarzan and other classic English/Colonial American novels.
Ugly design imo.
I just hope one move it can learn is Sandstorm.
Can they just tell use when & how to get this Pokémon already? I’m eagerly awaiting the Isle of Armor DLC. Need a reason to jump back into Sword.
@glorymade It's a legendary with OP stats. So either he'll be banned, or it won't be fun/fair to use in battle.
This is gonna be one of the best Pokémons ever.
Totally thought that was a Breath of the Wild 2 screenshot for a second. Oops.
"However, it is possible other Pokémon may be able to learn this move in future games."
Gen 9 grass starter move confirmed
@Octane We don't know it's stats, and far from all Legendaries & Mythics are broken. Chill for now instead of complaining before it even comes out.
@AstroTheGamosian I didn't get what you meant straight away but that's a good one 😁
@Octane eh, the move too sounds pretty busted so it's probably for the better.
I really don't understand why GF insist on creating OP Pokémon/moves that either have absolutely no competitive use cause they get banned, or are on every single team cause they're much more powerful than the rest (see Xerneas, Groudon, etc.).
This could be useful in raids. Otherwise until a non-event Pokemon gets it, I don't see it being useful elsewhere. Mythical Pokemon never get allowed to be used in official competitive formats.
One of the things I like about raids is that you can actually use anything you want. I really want another Mewtwo-like raid event. It was so cool having to group up with 3 other people and actually plan out a team of ubers and mythical Pokemon, fully EV trained and level 100 and even with a full group, I never really got past about a 90% win rate.
And the rewards were awesome! I still have a bunch left.
cool move but zarude is meh
Cool move indeed. Still not a fan of his overall design.
@DaCh33f - Unless the Grass starter becomes another Cleric (like Meganium), I'd see it end up as an event move on other appropriate Pokémon...Shaymin, Celebi, and the like.
Is it strange only to me that it's a Dark-type Pokémon, which are known to be evil, and its signature move is something that heals itself AND its partner? I mean it's hard to think of a move that's more kind-hearted than this one.
@graysoncharles I was addressing your "It's a legendary with OP stats. So either he'll be banned, or it won't be fun/fair to use in battle." post. Do you think the Regis are unfair 'because they're Legendaries'? How about Meloetta, Phione, or Celebi 'because they're Mythics'?
