With the world in lockdown at present, the Nintendo Switch has become a hot item as people try to find ways of keeping themselves entertained during this period of isolation.
Demand for the system has outstripped supply for the past few weeks, and we've therefore seen crazy lottery systems in Japan and a hike in resell value elsewhere. Even the Switch Lite – which has been easier to find due to the fact that it lacks the ability to connect to the TV – is starting to sell out in some stores.
However, Nintendo wants people to know that the situation is changing. The company has posted a tweet from its Japanese account which assures prospective buyers that more stock is coming, while a Nintendo of America representative has told GamesIndustry.biz that "more systems are on the way. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Have you been looking to pick up a Switch recently? What's the stock situation like where you are in the world? Let us know with a comment.

glad to hear!
Switch is such a versatile beast.
Wow Nintendo is Hot this time around.
I play my switch alot these days.
Civilization (best RTS i have ever played) and smash Bros (best all round game ever)
Oh and mario kart together with my wife, we love it.
I'm just waiting for people to post in comments thinking the title meant more models lol.
@The-Chosen-one i really struggled with civ. Loved the idea and the look of it but got completely lost and never got the gist if what i was doing was right. I regretted selling it but think i would be in exactly the same boat if i got it again.
@Kidfunkadelic83
Aah yeah, for me it was hard in the beginning but after couple days in, i got the hang of it.
Been playing almost everyday sinds then.
I may have to get it again then. Is there a best civ for starters or are they all about the same? I know there are a few in the game like the english etc
You can sell your used Switch now on eBay at double the price.
In a month time, use that money to buy a brand new Switch and a Switch Lite. It's just like the Turnip, AC is teaching us so much on scam.
(Yes, Stock Market is a scam. A legal scam just like the bank, which is a legal Ponzi scheme.)
Still haven't opened the Animal Crossing Switch I got because of all this madness. A part of me wants to use it, but then I remember how my launch Switch is fine and then I take a look at what it is selling for.
I bought 2 in the last week at retail - but man it took a lot of effort and persistence!
@TechaNinja For about one second, that was totally me
@The-Chosen-one ok I bought civ 6 a while ago and was really excited for it but when I played it I just didn’t have fun. Heard lots of great things and I want to like it but it just hasn’t clicked with me. Anything you can say that helps you enjoy the game or that I may have missed or didn’t fully understand/appreciate about the game. It’s my first civ game and it’s pretty complex so maybe part of me not enjoying it is just not being able to fully wrap my head around the game.
Damn - I read it to mean new 'types' of Switch consoles are on the way
No way
Pretty much everything's been struggling recently, for obvious reason. I know it's meant to reassure people, but everyone understands why it's happening.
Ring Fit Adventure would be nice, too.
Okay, Nintendo. Send some copies of Ring Fit Adventure while you're at it.
Even second hand units are going for £350-£400 on eBay!
I picked a neon one up at Best Buy Saturday morning. I checked online. It said In Stock and I ordered it. It was ready for pickup in about 10 mins. I was pretty excited to find one.
Well, that good news, everywhere around here has but one or two Switch Lites in stock. I can't buy one because my work closed permanently (although if our president reopens the economy by May 1st, I might be able to). Here's hoping everything opens back up soon. This quarantine stuff sucks.
Good to hear. I thought one day there would be no switches in stock. 😊
hopefully animal crossing edition will be back in stock in uk shortly
I've been after a 'full' console for my sons 18th birthday, here in the UK, since February. Not a smidgen of any stock anywhere, even before coronavirus took off. Annoyingly, adverts for the console are still on TV - what's the point of that?
Would love if they test the original consoles first if it starts drifting first, so that they wouldn't be delayed in shipping there and back because of the Coronavirus. I want to buy another one soon but I want to wait until all of this is over. So please, Nintendo, find out what's going on with the Joy-Con Drift and simply fix it!
