Wayforward

WayForward, the independent developer and publisher perhaps best known for its very own Shantae series, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The exact anniversary date actually came just yesterday, and the company has shared a celebratory piece of artwork.

In recent times, WayForward has treated us to games like Vitamin Connection, River City Girls, and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse on Nintendo Switch, but you might remember that the studio's partnership with Nintendo goes way back to the turn of the millennia. Back then, we had the original Shantae on Game Boy Color, games like Xtreme Sports, and even The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie game adaptation on Game Boy Advance.

In a message shared to social media, WayForward has thanked its fans for their support:

Just last month, we had a chat with WayForward to discuss its latest Switch exclusive, Vitamin Connection. If you missed it, make sure to check that out to learn all about the game's influences and challenges, as well as some behind-the-scenes info on game development.

Congratulations, WayForward. Here's to another 30 years!
