Did you pick up Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX when it was released last week? If so, you'll be pleased to hear Nintendo and The Pokémon Company will soon be releasing a patch for it that fixes a game-breaking bug.
According to the official patch notes, there's a glitch that occurs in dungeons with a fixed party. Here's exactly how it happens (thanks, Perfectly Nintendo):
fixes a game breaking glitch that occurs in dungeons with a fixed party. It occurs when the protagonist and their partner are defeated in the dungeon, and you remove the third Pokémon from your team. To avoid the issue, simply refrain from removing that third party member. If you already have, and cannot play anymore as a result, the update will allow you to play
Apart from the glitch, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon appears to have got off to a good start across multiple regions. In both Japan and the UK, it went straight to the top of the charts. Interestingly, in the UK, its debut sales are 37.6% higher than Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon on the 3DS. And over in Japan so far, it's managed to shift an estimated 138,548 units in its opening week.

Congrats on the massive success Nintendo, yall deserve it. Such a fantastic remake. Too many companies do those lazy remaster/remakes that add nothing fresh to the game.
"It occurs when the protagonist and their partner are defeated ..."
Easy solution! Don't get defeated! Problem solved! No patch required.
My mother was right, I AM a genius!
Haven't encountered this problem.
I've been playing for three-four hours so far. The game is really fun!
What leads people to even do this anyways? I mean it's an oversight but c'mon. ☠️☠️☠️
This is the first game I've been excited for and wholeheartedly enjoying in a very, very long time. It's such a blast of nostalgia to early DS/late GBA days! Glad to see that it's getting the support it requires after launch.
Keep the legacy content remakes coming!
Never even knew this was an issue, but good to see it getting patched out.
love how with the Nintendo's remakes of GBA/DS era games they always seem to miss the game breaking glitches nearly all the Mario & Luigi RPG remakes had them don't no one test these games anymore?
@mesome713 yeah Capcom really haven't put any effort into Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes whilst Nintendo put so much effort into all of its Wii U ports on Switch
@ClassSonicSatAm Even if you were one of the testers, I doubt you'd be able to find a bug like this — I don't think during your testplay you would try to remove someone when you and your partner fainted, like @Lalivero wondered. Or maybe you (and the developers) were able to find and fix 999 bugs but missed this. The amount of coding in modern games have become too complex to be tested error-free within a reasonable timeframe. Millions of players out there are more likely to find such a bug than the limited number of testers. Saying no one tested the games is unfair to them. As long as it can be fixed in a patch, no harm done.
@carlos82 Crapcom does the same, look at its Monster Hunter and Megaman ports, etc.
@HADAA Tho that's the job of being a play tester, to test every possible bug
Good to hear. I haven’t pick it up yet but plan to when I’m feeling better. Still recovering from some head pain issues but once they’re gone I’m excited to jump into my first Mystery Dungeon game! That and Animal Crossing should keep me busy throughout most of Spring!
I played the demo. It was a fun dungeon crawler, but I wondered if I'd get more bang for my buck picking up shield or sword.
For early boss battles I’ve been using blast seeds to make sure I don’t lose haha
I had this issue. I can’t wait for the bug fix so I can carry on playing.
To the people asking why someone would do this, it was out of idle curiosity. I knew my last Pokemon was about to die, so I wondered what would happen. Whoops!
@mesome713 and so does Nintendo, so what's your point?
Pretty much all the best remakes I can think of are from Capcom
