NSW Lite will outsell the PS4 Pro next week.
Animal Crossing will be the 3rd Switch game to sell 1+ million retail copies at launch in Japan. Its digital ratio should be huge too - likely in the 40-50% range.
@westman98 Interesting. I'm wondering if Animal Crossing will get unprecedented digital take-up for a retail title, if people don't really want to risk going to the shops.
@Krull
Animal Crossing New Leaf had a 25% digital attach rate at launch back in November 2012, when digital sales for all other 3DS games were virtually non-existent (<<1%). To this day, New Leaf has sold 1 million digital copies in Japan, the most of any 3DS game on the eShop by far.
New Horizons has a shot at topping 1 million digital copies sold in Japan in its first 1-2 weeks. Physical retailers are sorta panicking because of that lol.
Did the Megaman collection sell well? Idk what is good numbers here.
Has the oh so adorable AC branded Switch launched in Japan yet? I know the coronavirus is slowing things down everywhere but I still think there's a segment of the market waiting for that set. I would, and I'm not even an AC fan, but the pastel colors are so much better than black or gray.
Nintendo has to do only one thing to boost those sales.
Its called; Nintendo Direct.
When they go all out with info, trailers on new upcoming games, share their future plans etc.
@The-Chosen-one ,
It won't make any difference what they do or announce, if there are no consoles to sell.
@johnvboy
Thats true indeed.
@The-Chosen-one,
I think there are two factors holding up the Nintendo direct, obviously Nintendo do not wan't to take the spotlight off Animal crossing, and the logistics of the viral outbreak has also made Nintendo put back their next presentation.
It's Mario Day next Tuesday. That would be a prime day for a Direct, especially if a new Mario game is to be announced.
We need a direct even if its just a mini direct all i want are dates for Xenoblade remaster, Deadly Premonition 2, and No More Heros 3.
MS needs to start giving away games or something.
Ring Fit adventure ftw. Nintendo develops the most amazing games ever.
@mesome713 What did they expect? A direct sequel and their answer was that people should watch the anime or play P5 it on ps4...
Nintendo needs to release a pro.
I really need a new Switch with all the little issues i now have but im not going to get the same one i have until it completely stops working.
So I'd defo buy a pro and i know many others would too.
@The-Chosen-one the problem is production, not demand
@johnvboy The Japanese financial year ends March 31st, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Direct before then...but yeah I get the impression they want to maximise the exposure on Animal Crossing first. Either way we'll all know soon enough.
@illmatic20xx we will in June during e3
@Razer,
I would love a pro version Switch, but I am not sure it's a mass market seller, an improved Switch with a better screen and less bezel would do well, although I do see this happening in time anyway.
Hopefully Megaman sold well enough. It's also possible that plenty of its sales were digital, too.
On top of the coronavirus impacting sales/distribution, there's a lot of fear in Japan right now. Schools are closed and rumors of shortages, and actual shortages - namely paper goods - have a lot of people on edge and possibly reconsidering buying luxury goods like game systems.
I would get a 2ds xl, however it's price is just under 50 bucks for a Nintendo switch, unless they cut that down, it doesn't seem logical (consumer) to get 1. EBay has 3ds's for a lot cheaper.
@ChrisDono That's possible but I don't think Nintendo is usually so... directly confrontational. If they want to go that route, the Direct would have to be phenomenal to compete with a brand new console announcement.
They could do it though. Imagine if Sony drops the PS5 and like 5 so-so titles, 3 of which we already know and maybe 2 big hitters in their announcement, then Nintendo drops bombshell release dates for BOTW 2, Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 all in the same Direct? Then those in dates for Xenoblade Definitive edition, surprise announcements like Mario Galaxy 1+2 HD and Pikmin 4 and that could potentially smother a PS5 announcement.
Are you sure about the lifetime sales?
PS4 has sold something like 107 million units so far
Or you mean Japan only?
I think those new consoles will be too expensive at launch, i always wait, 6 to 12 months when a new console arives. With the switch i waited 3 months.
Nintendo could tackle it with just a little bit of info about a Switch 2 at E3 or somewhere near the release of PS5 and XboxX.
