It has been confirmed today that BioShock: The Collection is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Following on from rumours a while back, the announcement was made during today's surprise Nintendo Direct broadcast. The collection brings BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered and BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition to Nintendo hardware for the first time ever.
The pack launches on May 29th, alongside XCOM 2: The Collection – which contains XCOM 2, 4 DLC packs, and the War of the Chosen expansion – as well as Borderlands Legendary Collection.

Wait, did you just say "Borderlands Collection"??
😲😲🥰🥰
Man, no shortage of games to choose from on May 29th.
All three releases are a code in a box, aren't they? I hope I'm wrong but the direct showed me I'm not.
Holy moly! Day 1 for me!!!
Download and SD card required...
Grumpf.
(Still chuffed to bits tho!)
Download required = no money from me. Damn I had such high hopes! HUGE disappointment.
Coincidentally last night I was wondering why we hadn’t heard any more about it so I was googling around trying to find new info. Perfect timing.
Bioshock 1to 3 are all worth playing if you’ve not before. Have already played several times over the years so not for me,and I don’t think the joy con are as good for these sorts of games, but hey the options there if you want it x x x x x
Total day one for me!
Borderlands and Bioshock Day one buys for me.
Very excited about this!
bioshock , i want it now, wahhh
May 29th - the day my wallet gets lighter.
Day 1, cannot wait. Never finished the first 1.
Will probably pick this up. Never played this game series, but I understand it's good.
@Zuljaras Question: Would all 3 Bioshock games combined even fit on a 32 GB card?
The only announcement that I really liked.
@link3710 They are last gen games. All 3 of them. They will be downgraded on the Switch as well.
Why even bother with physical if you can't put everything you are advertising on it. Keep it digital. I do not need a box with sticker on it that say I need to download something.
I've heard decent things about the BioShock series but have never played any of the games. I'm interested, but these won't be day 1 buys considering that I'll likely be pretty occupied with Xenoblade around then. XD
On Twitter they said that you can play the opening acts of all 3 games but for later content you have to download the rest of the games.
For Borderlands is event worse. 35GB of required download
@Zuljaras So why not just get the download version and be done with it? Also, despite what you said on degredation, we know for a fact Borderlands at least is well over 32GB
@link3710 I prefer my collection physical.
For me both Nintendo and the devs are at fault here. Nintendo does not provide cheap alternatives for physical and the devs does not want to put more effort in the ports. Unlike CDPR. With the right compression it could work out.
Hell give me a way to pre-order each game and put it each on a cartridge and I would pay for it like Limited Run Games style. But no, fast cash grab is better.
I never got to try this series out is it worth it?
@Zuljaras
They will be downgraded? Where did you heard that?
Awesome. I've been waiting for these. Will definitely pick up Bisohock and Borderlands. Great franchises.
@MrBlacky Most games that are on all console are downgraded on the Switch. Lower resolution graphics, effects etc.
@Zuljaras
Really? I was under the impression, almost all games from XB360/PS3 era last look better on Switch. 🤔
@MrBlacky They are remasters for the XboxOne and PS4. Higher resolution graphics etc. I do not think we have native 360/ps3 games on the Switch.
Darksiders 1and 2 are Warmastered and Deathinitive editions and they are downgraded.
Diablo 3 is downgraded.
Skyrim as well.
The only thing that makes the games big are the huge assets. The sound is not the thing that makes them huge.
See the Witcher 3 is heavily compressed to fit on a 32GB cartridge with its 2 expansions. See? Dedication is they key and most developers/publishers don't have it.
Physical is becoming more and more a thing of the past like music CDs. Not a deal breaker to me.
Nice. I have these on pc and xbox one but I'll buy again to show support. Bioshock is the only FPS that I like anyway.
@Zuljaras Awesome train of thought. You're gonna skip out on a collection because they can't realistically fit three games and three DLC packs on a single 32GB cart.
I'm very interested, as I've never played any of these series. The DOWNLOAD REQUIRED is a red flag, but as long as it's not a download code in a box I'll probably partake.
@SamoaJoe I am not skipping it. I have the collection on PS4 where I have 2 discs with 2 cases and one nice sleeve.
I will be skipping it only on handheld. I was more than willing to give them money like they are brand new releases but not that way. They have to earn it.
They got my money one time because they did it right. They are just not getting it this time
The first Bioshock is one of my favorite games, but I'm not sure I'll buy it again. For those of you who missed this game, I strongly recommend it.
You can buy these separately on the eshop.
I envy the people who get to play Bioshock for the first time. Such a masterpiece. Avoid spoilers and just play it blindly.
I'll double dip if it includes gyro aiming. Any excuse to replay Bioshock is good.
@SamoaJoe It amazes me how ridiculous people get about physical games, specially their need to remind us all how they feel about it.
Will we be able to get them separately??
I hope all these would get a physical collection release at some point but if not then I might get them separately as well.
This is awesome! Great to see these games show up on Nintendo hardware and better yet, playable on a portable. 😁
Great news, I always wanted to play those games! Not so great though that you need to download stuff, it was to be expected. I guess it will be like Spyro: First game on the card, the rest downloaded. I have Spyro, but I only buy Bioshock if the download isn't to extreme.
Lets face it guys: If the Switch just had proper blue-ray discs it probably wouldn't have been a problem (with the exception of Spyro, that happened everywhere).
Seeing Bioshock Infinite in portable form sounds really amazing, can't wait for May 29th!
Do you think we will get gyro aiming in the games, it's pretty much the norm for the majority of releases on switch
@Zuljaras Alien Isolation looks better on Switch than PS4. This is because new Anti-aliasing techniques were developed since the game came out on PS4 and we're applied to the Switch.
@ballistic90 And probably that is why they will not consider physical. The game is 17GB on the Switch right? And they have to opt in for 32 which is expensive for them. The other option is forced download which is idiotic and that is why they are not doing it.
A smart move.
Will certainly be picking these up. May try Borderlands too
Totally would have bought this but I already recently bought it for my PS4. Great news though.
Would you kindly put this in my must own switch games list... and borderlands to boot? Thank you 2K!
Bioshock AND Borderlands????????
So much yes!
Could we get Mass Effect too?
I need to get BioShock infinite. Not so fussed about the others, but must play this. Haven't played a borderlands before...
If I get this, I'll be getting the physical version(yes I know you still need to download A LOT). I like having a cartridge and a case. But it all depends on 2 things, price and if the world is still running by may 29th.
@Big_Nook considering they’ve been critically acclaimed several times over, I would say no, the games are absolute rubbish. Kidding! The Bioshock series is fantastic and holds a place in my heart with its impeccable writing, fascinating narrative and innovative gameplay. Give them a spin when you get the chance.
Just got the bioshock collection free on ps plus last month, otherwise I would have bought them. But Borderlands and Xcom is tempting... although they have to wait a 100 hours of playtime for me to play through Xenoblade Chronicles again!
