Mark Hamill is an astonishingly talented actor, both in the realm of live-action movies and animated features. His career stretches back decades and he has contributed to productions such as Batman: The Killing Joke, Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Adventure Time, not to mention numerous video games such as Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, Wing Commander and Kingdom Hearts III.
However, despite this massive body of work, Hamill is always going to be famous for playing one character: Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.
Still, he's trying his best to add to his already enviable pool of work – and, if reports from We Got This Covered are to be believed, he'll soon be joining the cast for season 2 of Netflix's Witcher series, taking on the role of Vesemir, one of the Witchers responsible for training Geralt, the main protagonist of the series.
For his part, Hamill has been a firm favourite with fans for the role, and jokingly expressed interest last year:
It's known that the second season of the show will focus on the novel Blood of Elves, and Vesemir plays a significant role in that book, helping Geralt train Ciri at Kaer Morhen. Interestingly, Hamill's voice acting talents could be used in the already-confirmed Witcher animated spin-off, which focuses solely on the character of Vesemir.
Netflix has yet to officially comment on the report, so there's nothing written in stone as yet, but we can't think of anyone better suited to play the role – especially after Hamill's grizzled performances in the recent Star Wars movies, and his role in the TV series Knightfall.

I prefer to remember Mark Hamill as the Joker from the Arkham games and the amazing Batman animation with Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne/Batman
(Still my favorite Mark Hamill performance.)
Toss a coin to your Skywalker...
@Hagemaru You read "Luke Skywalker" and actually believed the character would be playing Vesemir?
Weird, I though this was a news site for Videogames, Nintendo-Games to be precise
@Hagemaru @rushiosan how on Earth is that a click bait title? Did you honestly think it was THAT literal?
Anyway... Mr Hamill would be pretty great at this. Right look, gruff voice; I can’t think of a better actor to fit the part off the top of my head.
@mariomaster96 not just Nintendo games. They also cover games made by third parties, including indies, that are related to Nintendo.
Games like The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch 😉
It's not a clickbait article, however it is citing an incredibly clickbaity site with a very shoddy track record of rumors. "We got this covered" is super unreliable and untrustworthy.
While I don't agree with the claims that this is clickbait (Clearly, the character of Luke would not be put in the show), even as a rumour this is pointless reporting on. The website linked says they have a document, but then provides no evidence of such, so it's redundant.
In fact, the biggest take away from this is that Mark Hamill has no idea what The Witcher is! Bah, you think you know someone... 😂
I also saw a rumor that lightsabers will be replacing swords 😛
Nintendolife get serious!!!!!!!! OK?
@Damo Why no mention of Skeletor? Do you guys not have He-man over there?
Kingsman sucked and the canon Star Wars is all I've seen him in really. Would be good to see him and not just hear him in something else I like. Did see him in Corvette Summer with my dad but was just watching it casually as war movies aren't my thing usually.
@rjejr I watched He-Man as a kid, cassette and plus TV and I'm from south England, so definitely did, but maybe not for some who didn't buy the tapes or just had small number of channels.
@Hagemaru Hamill is owned by Disney? Wut?
Luke: "But I was going to toshe station station to pick up some power converters…"
Geralt: "hmm, f**k..."
There is no Mark Hamill.
The Witcher was actually quite good. Mark Hamill would be a great addition.
I heard Geralt of Rivia was going to be on the show as well.
He's a talented actor, I can't deny that. But I often disagree with him. Course, I disagree with everyone who agreed to work on the newer Star Wars movies. lol
Mark Hamill is a legit actor. He received critical acclaim as Mozart in the Broadway premiere of Amadeus. His vocal work deserves all the awards. He was GREAT in the most recent Knightfall season. He just arrived at a time when you got typecast for being in a tentpole blockbuster. Glad he's getting opportunities now.
That IGN quote next to Mark Hamill's tweet is kind of funny.
"This is not how quotes work, IGN." - Winston Churchill
It would have been funny if Luke Skywalker appeared with a lightsaber in The Witcher show.
What's with the desperation for clicks?
Mark Hamill also voices Boolio in Episode 9.
That means Boolio is canon to Witcher confirmed /s
Wait... Luke skywalker isn’t a real person?
Funny, because Vesemir is "old and tired Luke Skywalker, but well written". The witchers are a lot more down to earth than Jedi though. And they definitely swear a lot more.
