Merge Games and developer ION LANDS have revealed that Cloudpunk, a game originally headed for PC only, will also be heading to Nintendo Switch later this year.
The game presents players with a vibrant, futuristic open world to explore, all wrapped up in a vertical cyberpunk city. There are undergound nightclubs, gardens in the sky, and much more besides, all in a rather fetching voxel graphics art style.
Here's some PR:
Taking inspiration from other story-based titles such as Firewatch and Kentucky Route Zero, Cloudpunk is filled with characters to meet, alongside a multitude of stories to discover as you explore the neon-streaked world which finds inspiration from real places such as Shinjuku in Tokyo, as well as Hong Kong and Seoul.
Your name is Rania. This is your first night working for Cloudpunk, the semi-legal delivery company based in Nivalis. Explore dense, vertical landscapes that reach high into the clouds and deep down through the ocean waves below, as you meet characters ranging from Androids and AI to unscrupulous humans at every level of society.
We also have a list of key features for you to check out:
KEY FEATURES
- Explore an immense vertical cyberpunk city with your hover car and on foot
- Unravel mysteries in a world of corporate conspiracy, hackers and rogue AI through the eyes of Rania
- Meet a diverse range of characters and immerse yourself in their everyday lives
- Your decisions will have a lasting impact on the inhabitants of Nivalis
- Discover hidden places and items unlocking additional stories
We don't have an exact release date for this one just yet, but hopefully we'll hear more about its release in the coming weeks.

Hoo boy, this looks beautiful. Can't wait.
I like! Intrigued to see more.
hmmm i might have to keep this on my radar
For a split second, I thought this was cyberpunk so... I'm annoyed
I like the concept but not the boxy art style. I may consider getting this
It certainly looks the part. I'll be keeping my eye on this one for sure.
I'm guessing by open world, they mean drive around and look at stuff then find the designated landing pads before exploring clusters of on foot sections - some story and some side or hidden content areas. That's what it looks like. Cool, but open world for me means BotW open world.
Interested until I saw those "characters to meet" are stick figures - literally 😕
Just hope GeForce NOWy has Cyberpunk2077.
Art style is interesting. Will keep my ear to the ground.
That looked pretty awesome. It’s definitely on my radar, I just need to see more to decide if the gameplay is for me.
i love the look but i'm not into just walking, driving, and talking.
@RightWingGamer God forbid you had to play as a woman! I mean, women have never had to play as a man over the years eh lol
@RightWingGamer lol her voice wasn’t annoying at all to me. Way worse voice acting out there.
Looks nice that, I'll have it
Attractive looking, but that trailer said nothing about the game. I'm intrigued though. I'm a huge fan of the aesthetic.
Super interested~!! Hopefully it will be content rich and with a great gameplay/
@Samwise7 Actually, no woman has ever HAD to play as a man, just like no man has ever HAD to play as a woman. We have the right to choose whether we play a game or not based on our individual preferences and tolerances, just as @RightWingGamer has the right to decline to play based on his preferences, whether we agree with them or not.
@Aprosey I won't argue that, just pointing out that we all have the right to choose what we do and do not play.
We do have a right to choose what we play, but for men that's rarely a worry in a game. I don't have a female perspective - I'm not faced with the choice of having to play as another gender or miss out completely on a game - or more realistically be a bit sad I can't be represented.
I didn't have a problem being Lara in Tomb Raider and I played Saint's Row 3 with a female character (Skyrim too on my second play through, as a female dark elf).
But even so, being a male character is the industry norm and I don't think that's fair. It's not a case of 'if you don't like it, don't play', that isn't realistic - and a man boo hooing because he has to play a female character is risable in the extreme.
@Ratchet916 Oh, good. I was never sure which games I was legally mandated to purchase, but now I see that I don't have to worry about jack-booted government thugs breaking into my home if I don't purchase the next Super Mario game.
Let me continue this fruitful line of discussion. When @RightWingGamer decides to post closed-minded comments on a public forum, other people have the right to respond to those comments as they see fit.
Sounds like we have all sorts of rights!
@Ralizah - it all started to go wrong for some people when you were allowed to vote 😜
Isn't it just a textbook definition of male privilege?
Very cool looking. Might check that out right off.
@Mii_duck you said male characters being the norm isn’t fair. However, video gaming games have historically been made by males for males. Now that more girls are playing and making games, we are seeing more choice. Seems entirely fair to me.
It’s almost like if I said there aren’t enough male models in make-up advertising! And that’s not fair! That’s kind of a silly thing to say.
they should call it neocab
Definitely interested.
Looks pretty stylish, gotta say.
This got Fifth Element vibes. I'm very much intrigued
