Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for Android and iOS devices has been receiving a little extra attention in recent times. It's mostly to do with the upcoming release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch next month.
Even though the two games aren't directly linked, there'll still be promotional offers in both, where players can receive special items. More details will be shared about this on the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Twitter account at a later date.
Now, perhaps in preparation, the mobile entry (or at least the iOS version) has received a new update:
Version 3.1.1 - We're preparing for future events.
Here's some additional information that was shared during last week's Animal Crossing Direct:
If you own both Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for mobile devices and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll receive special items in each game.
Will you be playing Pocket Camp alongside New Horizons when it is released? Leave a comment down below.

Stability, duh.
As much as I love AC, I couldn't get into the app version. Is it 3.20.20 yet?
I really hope it is garbage. I very much disliked AC pocket.
This is nowhere near the first time there's been an update to prepare for future events, by the way.
Usually it's just meaning they added support for the next garden or whatever.
The API doesn't usually change outside of x.x.0 versions either.
Hopefully someday soon (like March 20th) everybody will forget this abomination. Worst AC game.
Which is sad because obviously a lot of work went in to making it. But the gameplay is lame mobile trash.
Shut it down on March 20th.
Im a sucker for special furniture, this might keep me playing pocket camp once New Horizons comes out.
I'm actually happy to read all the negative comments about this b/c I played it for about a week before just giving up, it was too much work, nto nearly enough reward.
My only exposure to AC was this and amiibo Festival which wasn't inspiring me to pick up ACNH. I know ac:af was universally panned but I wasn't' sure how different the mobile game and New Horizons would be. Seems like people who play these games are expecting the full game to be much better than the mobile game.
I think if AC fans were heaping praise on Pocket Camp I'd pass on New Horizons.
I deleted the app as soon as they introduced the pay to play elements. Definitely not wasting my time with it once New Horizons comes out. Not even for some “rare” items.
I've been playing more or less every day since about 6 months after launch. Which doesn't mean I love it, more that it fits in well with my work day and is a pleasent enough distraction. Haven't ever put money into it. All that said though, I definitely wouldn't miss it. Nice that the cross game bonus they once mentioned 3 or 4 years ago look to still, kind of, be on the cards
I tried it for a day then deleted it. I would revisit it if we can get cool stuff in New Horizons from it.
