We've already seen a few exciting new games released on the system last week such as Dr Kawashima's Brain Training for Nintendo Switch and later on this month, there'll be a few more to enjoy. The standout in January is the re-release of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. It started out life in 2016 but didn't get much time to shine due to the troubled Wii U era. It's now making an encore on Switch and comes packed with a new song and new story elements.
Also locked in for January is Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD and the emotional story-driven indie hit, To the Moon. For more information about the games coming out this month, check out our video above. Of course, if you want a quick summary, below is the full list of games we're looking forward to checking out:
- 140 - 9th Jan
- Thoth - 9th Jan
- Technosphere - 10th Jan
- Sorry, James - 16th Jan
- Super Crush KO - 16th Jan
- To the Moon - 16th Jan
- Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore - 17th Jan
- Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath - 23rd Jan

As usual. January is fairly quiet. Hopefully TMS#FE sells well so we get more Atlus games. Devil Survivor 3 and Persona Q3 anyone?
Excitement level 1/10. Time to put a dent in the old backlog
I'm focusing on hunting some PS3 & PSP games during January - June 2020.
I'm taking a break for a while from purchasing upcoming Switch games since i have already knew what games i can buy later.
Nintendo Direct can't come soon enough
Nothing for me there. Waiting for La-Mulana collection, Langrisser Collection RPG Maker Switch and the Trials of Mana remake (IIRC that was coming early this year?)
Just TMS#FE for me, at least on this list. Not like I don't have a massive backlog already. lol
Atelier Dusk Trilogy and Maitetsu: Pure Station are my physical games for the month. Also looking forward to Puzzle & Dragons digitally. Aviary Attorney seems kinda interesting so I'll be keeping my eye on that too. I didn't realise To the Moon was coming out this month, can add that to the list.
@JR150 I would punch a baby for Devil Survivor 3.
TMS #FE would be a D1B for me if I had the funds. What I would give to re-experience this gem of a Wii U favorite of mine again on my Switch...
My backlog and wallet, both rejoice!
@Indielink
I dunno too much about it other than it's tactical. But given the chance it'd be nice to throw FE characters in as a way to nod to TMS's crossover. Literally anything from Atlus would be nice since their support has really dried up after the constant flow of games on 3DS.
I mention Persona Q3 because that's a spin-off and I'd need no context to play it. Persona 5 Scramble acting as a canon sequel to P5 which isn't on Switch sucks, because I don't understand who anyone is and there may be spoilers for the original P5. So I hope they at least consider more random junk like Q or Etrian.
Nothing for me this month, and im actually happy about it 😊
Really...Oddworld has priced itself as a new game.
Just #FE for me.
@Expa0 Trials of Mana is down for the 24th April. I'm also looking forward to that. I did consider getting Collection of Mana for the original version, I've only ever played Secret of Mana but I decided to wait and experience it for the first time with the remake.
Just beat the Master Quest in BotW for the second time. (6th full time through the game) I’m excited for BotW2 but hope the world is different somehow.
That said, Tokyo Mirage Sessions is my one and only this month. Unless something comes “Directly” out of nowhere.
Just Tokyo Mirage Sessions, January's very light but I have still have lots of backlog from the last third of 2019 so even if the normal Direct is February I won't be bored on the Switch front.
Waiting for update on next batch of Sega Ages line up, and release date for Panzer Dragoon
Oddworld digital only and on the expensive side means I am more than happy to wait.
@Gerald I was wondering when Panzer was coming as well. I'd love to have Skies of Arcadia and naturally the whole Shenmue Series....and lastly I'd love a Master System collection...I'm waiting to see what the next batch of Sega Ages titles will bring.
Quiet month, only Stranger's Wrath looks interesting.
February will be better. Just Snack World makes it definitely more exciting.
I suppose after the huge success of the Switch Lite, there's no reason hoping for Nintendo to announce some new LABO sets, like two years ago in January.
Nintendo? THIS would have been the perfect time to drop Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy Pack or Zelda Twilight Princess + Skyward Sword double pack...
Aside from AC:NH I have no idea what else is really coming this year. Whats coming in summer, autumn, winter, elsewhere in spring?
@MagnaRoader Wouldn't it be great if they just listened to the consumers?
Already have Tokyo Mirage Sessions pre-ordered, hopefully it will be delivered on or close after release. Seeing To The Moon however, I'm actually surprised by that, didn't know that was coming to Switch. I have it on PC, though it's been awhile since playing it.
You forgot to add Pikmin4 to the list. Shadow dropping in 2 weeks. Yes, yes it is. Don’t argue.
I'm not gonna get that version of Oddworld but I would be getting Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Never Again. Hopefully New 'n' Tasty come out soon cause that's the only one I'm interested in.
None of those look interesting at all. There's Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore for me....until Animal Crossing. In the meantime, FF7R, Cyberpunk, DBZ, and Persona 5R come out on other platforms.
Nintendo needs to do better with the first halves of the year
Only thing i've got so far for this year is Tokyo Mirage, whenever Xenoblade HD comes out i'll probably grab it to and hopefully get into it this time I had issues getting into the 3DS version I think i just wasn't in the mood for a handheld version of it.
