Back in August 2018, Deep Silver announced it was bringing Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package to the Nintendo Switch. As exciting as this was for fans of the series, at the time we couldn't help but question why the third entry was selected instead of the sequel, Saints Row IV.
Now, less than a year after the third game's release on Nintendo's hybrid system, French retailer Cultura has listed the fourth game in the series for the Switch. It's titled Saints Row IV: Re-Elected – which is the version that includes all of the existing downloadable content.
Although this listing has now been removed, a distributor (also located in France) has put up its own listing for the Switch version of Re-Elected. It gets a bit weird here, with a PS4 listing for the game (which has been out since 2015) seemingly revealing the release date of the Switch version: 27th March 2020.
This follows the news BioShock: The Collection could be coming to the Switch, after it was rated in Taiwan. Would you like to see the fourth Saints Row make its way across to the Switch? Comment down below.

On cartridge, I buy.
The Australian version is censored however due to the presence of an anal probe (which was deemed to constitute "sexual violence"), so now I'm curious as to how this will be handled.
EDIT: Whoops, sorry. Just to clarify, only the use of "alien narcotics" was censored. The Review Board approved of the use of the anal probe, but also considered the use of alien narcotics to be objectionable and proceeded to ban the game as well. Only the use of alien narcotics (yeah, seriously) has been removed from the Australian release.
Not personally interested in Saint's Row, but I would be glad to see it on Switch. Just having more options and genre variety is good for the platform - and if Switch does well, that means more games for us.
Saints Row IV: Re-Elected. Bioshock Collection, Red Dead Redemption 2, Metro Exodus. I hope Nintendo learns from this in the future and gives us Nintendo Directs before everything gets leaked
SR3 was and is a hilariously fun romp. I enjoy over the top comedy of SR faaaaar more than the seriousness of GTA. Not to mention you can become a god with all the skills and stuff, lmao.
I’ve never played SR4, but heard mixed opinions of it being as good / better / worse than SR3. I’ll get it if it’s as good or better than SR3 though.
After we got SR3 I really don't care. The first two games were the best, the third kind of felt like a parody of them but it played great and still felt like Saints Row. The fourth game however... that felt like a completely different game. They went in this weird sci-fi direction with that one and turned the world into this alien invasion theme. I think the series lost all it's charm with that.
I didn't mind SR4, so I'd probably grab it if it's on cartridge. If it doesn't actually come to Switch, I'm not gonna be too disappointed although I hope it does because that could increase probability of SR5 coming to Switch. Looking forward to Deep Silver's news this year.
Using 'hits' lightly.
Good stuff, haven't picked up SR3 on Switch yet, but still a future purchase.
Fine, but this time, I hope they don't take anything out no matter how trivial! If someone doesn't want one of the extras (like the vampire and invincibility modes), there should just be an option to turn it off.
If it comes to Switch physically then I will buy if it not come physically then I will wait for a sale.
Eh? I'm not the biggest fan of these types of games so hopefully enough of an audience is there to make the efforts worth it.
I beat SRIV on Xbox a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I don't think I would revisit however. I would love for them to port Agents of Mayhem though as I have not given that one a go yet
Man, the rumor mill for Switch ports never stop churning
@MuhBael Wait, Red Dead Redemption 2?! Where did you hear that? How did I miss news that big?
What is love? Baby don’t hurt me...
@Heavyarms55 it appeared in an online store for the Switch but being honest it was most likely an error
If it runs well enough I might even get it. The game was stupid as all hell but the super powers were really satisfying to use. I personally found it way better than Saints Row 3.
All these rumours, a direct is sorely needed. It seems lot's of leaks are happening and yet a date for a direct has not even been announced.....
Maybe instead of a Direct Nintendo is just sending us on a scavenger hunt through retailers and international ratings board databases.
I love the Saints Row series. Pure open-world fun that doesn't take itself too seriously. I like how you can unlock the most insane powers to do literally what you want quite early in the game, and the character customization is really something.
I've already played this one too so I'll pass but if you haven't tried it you should !
@Silly_G
One of Shaundi's missions was also cut because it showed "drug use" in a positive way. I just signed into GOG through Tor and bought the uncensored version for PC.
OT I found SR3 to be the better game.
@shaneoh : I have amended my initial comment to reflect this.
I had forgotten about how convoluted the approval process was.
Basically:
Initial uncut submission: Banned due to "sexual violence" and drug use
Reviewed uncut decision: Banned due to drug use (the Review Board raised no objection to the use of the anal probe)
Cut submission: Drug use has been removed as per the previous two banned decisions, but leaves in use of anal probe as approved by the Review Board; classified MA15+ for "Strong violence, gaming experience may change online"
IV: Re-Elected submission: Pre-cut by the distributor, and classified MA15+ for "Strong violence, online interactivity"
@MuhBael I heard that, on PC the game is a monsterous 150GB, so while I don't buy the line that the Switch couldn't run it - I question if it could possibly be optimized and downscaled enough to even fit on a 64GB card - which I heard was coming. That would still be cutting it down more than half.
I don't care how good the game is - 150GB is outrageous and I find it hard to believe that they really needed so much space. Even with 4K textures and such on PC.
@Silly_G
Isn't it great, shove a weapon up someone's bum and your fine, but showing someone using a crack pipe and you've gone too far.
@Heavyarms55
I've still got it installed at the moment and while I don't have any 4k textures installed with it (don't know if they exist), it only sits at 10gb.
@Heavyarms55 : DOOM (2016) is about 77GB on PC, but the Switch version of the single-player campaign (as supplied on cartridge) contains about 12GB of data. Add patches and the multiplayer maps, and you're looking at about 24GB in total.
It isn't inconceivable that other lofty PC games can be squeezed down to a small fraction of the size for a Switch release. Most third party developers skimp on audio quality (and supported languages) to cut down on cartridge size.
Ideally, games such as Smash Ultimate should have shipped on 32GB cartridges with lossless audio, but Nintendo compressed it to hell (about 30 hours of music squeezed down to about 1.4GB!!), which would have substantially reduced the file size to the detriment to the quality of the package (the music sounds extremely flat; the Wii and Wii U iterations have better audio!).
Compressing pre-rendered cut-scenes would also cut a lot of the fat.
Well it seems Nintendo has to hurry up or else everything in the upcoming direct will be leaked beforehand
The more the merrier! I’m way more interested in this than SR3. Bring it on, I say
Is it only me or it appears that a Nintendo direct has been delayed internally...
But the 3rd was better than the 4th and the 2nd was the best in the series.
Genuinely do not care about this and I'll only buy the second.
Well this ran like ass on PS4 so this should be fun.
I played all the Saints games before this one, which I missed out on ; might be good to pick up for on the go.
Saint's Row 3 was a big surprise hit for me, really enjoyed it and I wasn't bothered by - and rarely noticed - any of the performance issues that troubled others. I just had a brains out blast with it. Burt ******* Reynolds!
IV has varying reviews concerning the game breaking powers but I'd definitely buy it if it comes to Switch.
@MuhBael @Heavyarms55 Didn't that retailer also list GTA VI, Bully 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch?! They're either not a very trustworthy source, or Nintendo is about to have a HUGE direct!
@BionicDodo GTA VI? Do you mean GTA IV? Because if Rockstar dropped GTA 6 out of nowhere, on Switch first, I think the internet would actually explode.
@Heavyarms55 The thing I saw on Reddit said GTA VI. It may have been a typo, but as it also mentioned Bully 2 and Sly 5 (for PS), I'm guessing they meant VI.
@BionicDodo In that case, I'm almost certain it's a mistake. I just don't see GTA 6 happening when 5 is still selling like crazy and if it did, I don't see it coming to Switch, but rather being a launch or shortly after, title on PS5 and Xbox Burgundy.
@Heavyarms55 I don't think it's so much a mistake as a website that's full of beep and speculatively listing loads of unannounced games.
Gat Outta Hell is the best Saints Row, I would rather that on Switch.
I never played this one. I know you're mostly flying or running around but was disappointed they removed my fav radio station from number 3. I may get it this time around. I always wanted to try Gat Out of Hell more. No chance of that?
@Jayofmaya and @Jokerwolf - I believe on the PS4 this "re-elected" package includes all DLC, including Gat Out of Hell as a standalone download.
@MuhBael do you honestly think Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Switch? no chance a 100+ GB game can be squeezed onto a 32GB cartridge
@Mii_duck Sweet if true!
Saint's Row 3 was a disaster on the Switch, so I don't have high hopes for this.
Low frame rate + high input lag = unplayable for an action game. Anytime you drive a vehicle it's just painful.
Plus, as a SR newbie hoping that it would fill the GTA-shaped hole in the Switch library... Well the utter lack of character, charm, or depth in the city just makes the absence of a real GTA all the more cutting.
Won't be double dipping, but this is a great game. Probably prefer SR2 overall, but they are doing very different things.
@Dm9982 IV isn't really better or worse than the previous games, it's just different. Instead of an over the top GTA parody, it's an over the top superhero game with cartoony gangsters. I like it more than 3, maybe a little less than 2, but it's more a matter of opinion than quality.
@judaspete ok, well as long as I can basically still become a god and do all the crazy things I could in SR3! 😂🤣😂
@BionicDodo I suppose that's also possible.
I don't get why people hate on this franchise when it's so much more fun than GTA.
The Nintendo Switch is the Super Nintendo Entertainment System reborn.
@Dm9982 Oh, you'll be a god by the end of the first couple missions. If you liked 3 for that reason, 4 is going to blow your mind
Can we please get SR2 and 1 instead?
