Pokémon GO's Hatchathon Event is making a comeback this week, giving players the opportunity to earn some tasty rewards and hard-to-find items.
Starting today, you can earn extra Stardust, Rare Candies and rare rewards like Unova Stones – just by walking certain distances.
That's not all – you'll earn twice the usual amount of Candy and Stardust for every Pokémon you hatch, and there's the chance to bag some party hat-wearing 'mon.
Party hat versions of Pichu and Wurmple can be found in 2km eggs, while party hat Pikachu can be seen in the wild. In addition to this, party hat Raticate and Wobbuffet will appear in two-star Raid Battles.
The Hatchathon runs until 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on January 16th. Will you be returning to the game to take advantage of these rewards? Let us know with a comment.

Are people still playing Pokemon Go on a regular basis? I open the game every once in a while to check in, find it to be the same, and close the app. They didn't deliver what they said they would. Has been somewhat of a let down in the past 6-12 months, in my opinion. Anyone agree or disagree?
@Lemonyoshi Stongly disagree. The community is very active with raids and community days overflowing with players. The game has continued to add Pokemon and features at a steady rate as well as holding various themed events. Of course playerbase and community varies by region.
The main thing that's kept me from playing much recently is just winter. Those touchscreen gloves don't help for me. Too inaccurate, but without them my hands get cold in 10-15 minutes.
really wouldnt call them 'amazing rewards'. The only decent part is the 50km adventure sync reward.
Meanwhile an event had just finished boasting 1/2 egg hatch distance, daily incubator drops from 1st spin, and a fantastic valued box containing way more incubators for the same price as the current in store boxes.
Pretty silly (IMO) starting an 'egg themed' event right after removing every one of those advantages. On the plus side at least theres no major incentive to participate since all but party hat pikachu are confirmed to be unable to evolve anyway (further lowering their shiny value) .
@DarkScythe13
Yeah, this "hatch-a-ton" would make a LOT more sense with the previous bonuses.
