It doesn't always work out for every developer that releases one of its games on the Nintendo Switch, but there are also a lot of success stories out there. One of the more surprising ports released on the platform last year, that few Switch owners probably saw coming, was DC Universe Online.
In a recent interview with DualShockers, Daybreak Game Company Executive Producer Jack Emmert revealed the developer and publisher was "very pleased" with the critical reception of the game:
I feel that the game was practically made for the Switch! And the fan base has been really terrific on there, too. Tons of folks are saying ‘it’s great to finally have a real MMO on the Switch.
Daybreak chose not to reveal any specific player or revenue numbers associated with the Switch port.
This follows on from the news that DC Universe Online will be getting its own dedicated studio called Dimensional Ink Games. Emmert said the new studio would consider the Switch a viable platform for its future projects, after the success of Daybreak's MMO port.
Have you tried out this free-to-play MMO on the Switch yet? Comment below.

I didn't even realize this released on Switch. Maybe I'll check it out...
I haven't played this in months! Really good, but hard to keep track of every thing.
Why can't I play as Iron-man? Can someone tell me why I can't play as Iron-man?
@patbacknitro18 Because Iron-man is Marvel and this is a DC game.
@patbacknitro18 This game broke I can't play as Hawkeye
Surprisingly solid game. The file size is massive though, but I guess there’s not really any way around that.
@TechaNinja
No he is there he is just green nowadays.
And calls himself Green Arrow.
I didn't even know this game was on the NX.
I have it on multiple systems but I play it on PS4 the most because that's the one I have the most content on. I wonder if Daybreak will ever allow linking accounts across multiple platforms like Epic does for Fortnite.
@KitsuneNight So its like Boomerang, the famous and beloved 1st tier spiderman villain, who's now called Captain Boomerang and fights some speedyboy?
game is ok not great I only uninstalled cause my old micro sd card was so small like 32gb but now that I got a 520gb card from christmas may reinstall and play every now and then
@AnnoyingFrenzy
Hahaha whas that guy seriously? Aboit asking why marvel characters arent in a DC game?
@The-Chosen-one read my comment, 2 comments above, and see if i was being serious.
I'm glad the game is doing a lot better than they anticipated, but it's tough starting over... I have so much time on the PC version that you it's a painful grind.
Maybe I'll give it a try one of these days. It's in my library (where I had to add and shortcut it all the way from UK region - no trace of it in NoR domain) but I never got around to actually playing it. And not just it alone - it seems like the memetic "Steam syndrome" has reached my Switch to target freemiums specifically.😆
Until they make Dare Devil available to play as I'm not interested
@Wilforce With the boosts and the event content, you get that CR up pretty damn quick.
I’d love if The Old Republic wound up on Switch
@Scottwood101 Dare Devils weak sauce. He couldn't even defeat Netflix so he could get another season.
@Dracavius True. It's also a matter of the premium content... I have a lot of money invested.
@patbacknitro18
Sharp!!
Didnt notice that, very sharp. 👍
@AnnoyingFrenzy If you think you know so much then answer this. Who could win in a fight me or Goku.
@The-Chosen-one someone can5 take a joke lol
@Snakesglowcaps If only...
I've thought about trying this, but was concerned that it was a money suck FTP game. For those who have played it quite a bit, is this an issue?
I... I forgot this even came out on switch.
@patbacknitro18 I would hope you would win, doesn't take much effort to turn an anime off.
When I get a bigger SD card, I’ll get for sure!
@Wilforce Totally get that. A sacrifice I was ok with. Especially after I was able to get my OG name on Switch. Got screwed out if it on the first mega server merge way back.
Besides, I just sub now for when I want to play. And just let it go when I know I won’t be playing.
Most of my sessions are on the train or bus so I don't usually play online games. Looks cool tho!
@patbacknitro18 the rich dude that has no powers but uses money to be a vigilante and uses a fancy suit and gadgets and can fly???
He is there - they call him Batman in this....
@Stocksy Ha, a man whos also bat. Whats next, a clown that likes dancing down staircases?
I want spideoman
