Are you still racing around in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled? Then you'll be pleased to hear a new Grand Prix starts later today. This time it's taking place in the post-apocalyptic Rustland. This event includes new customisation items, a new track known as Megamix Mania, and a brand-new game mode: the Golden Wumpa Hunt.
Here is everything that's up for grabs (click/tap image to enlarge):
The new game mode requires racers to try to catch the Golden Wumpa Fruit, which is hiding in glowing greats. It's simply a matter of following the glow and smashing the crates to collect them. You'll then be rewarded with Wumpa Coins, and there are even Grand Prix challenges tied to this.
The new character is Megamix (see below), and is described as a mash-up of Neo Cortex, N. Gin, Dingodile, and Tiny Tiger. He originally appeared in the 2002 Game Boy Advance title, Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure. Megamix also mark's the 50th character to be added to CTR Nitro-Fueled – watch out, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
For more details about this new event, check out the official blog post. Will you be returning to CTR Nitro-Fueled to try out Megamix? Comment below.

They are running out of characters I see. But it is still the biggest Crash fanservice game ever!
This Christmas Winter Festival was the first time I lost steam for the Grand Prix's. Maybe it's because I didn't like the new track. Nina's Nightmare track at Halloween, with the ghosts, was maybe my favorite new grand prix track so far. CTR is a great game. Highly recommend it.
This game is getting insane with its throwbacks and I'm loving every second of it
"Guess I'll trade in the game since I'm done with all these grand Prix's and beat everything"
I'm not even safe inside my mind.
@Woomy_NNYes Gingerbread Joyride is pretty fun. Only one I don't like is the circus one. The Halloween quest was easily the best, glad they're bringing back dynamic quests to the actual tracks.
@RareFan Don't worry my friend, we still got the Parrots From Crash: Twinsanity to add in
Imagine if they brought Skylanders characters to the game.
Kaos, Eon and Finn anyone?
This game was a real disappointment to me thanks to all the micro-transactions. At least we have Mario Kart.
I would like see a remaster of Crash Nitro Kart. I consider that game extremely underrated racing game specially I love main villain Emperor Velo.
@Kilroy Right on. I thought some of the circus theme color pallette & those dark metallic paint jobs were puke-y I recognize it's good art direction, though.
I just noticed other day we can finally earn points with the lambo & its paint jobs now. I like that.
@Kilroy @Woomy_NNYes Funny, the Nina's Nightmare grand prix was the one I put the least amount of time into. The track itself was still cool, and N. Gin, Nina, and Komodo Moe make for my favorite wave of newcomers, but that just so happened to be when I started getting really burned out. I came back for the November and December ones, though, and I absolutely looooove Koala Carnival. As great as this game is, I guess it's pretty impossible to grind through every single monthly grand prix without having to take a breather sooner or later.
Wow it actually had that many characters now? And here I am still thinking Mario Kart 8 Deluxe roster can't be surpassed.
@retro_player_22 Im hoping rivalry with Crash Team Racing motivates Nintendo to bring more characters to Mario Kart.
@LaytonPuzzle27 Unless you meant that you want the anti-gravity and team mechanics back, all the tracks, characters and karts from CNK are already in Nitro-Fueled(except Fake Velo for some reason)
@JayJ It's perfectly fine. I have everything on it so far and 40,000 coins to spare and use instantly later. In the past I put in about £30 because I wanted to and I got it 2nd hand for a low price.
@Randomname19 I was disappointed about the lack of anti-grav, it made hyper space way and deep sea driving harder as well as just missing the fun on the other tracks.
@RareFan I hope to see another Spyro GP. The lack of Bianca and Money Bags is totally not excusable.
Good update, still. Was hoping for Velo, Willy Wumpa Cheeks and maybe one of the CTTR park employees skin for a character, though. The last one especially would have fit.
@JayJ It's 100% optional, navigating the menu to buy them is very non-intrusive and Beenox actually increased the amount of nitro points you earn per quest/made them easier/fixed their bugs so they can be earned.
It was shady to add them post-launch, sure, but in no way fired it affect anyone's gameplay or time spent if they don't want to use them. In fact, they've changed kart setups to make characters aesthetic only and stats are tied to a multi-choice option, which actually benefits players who don't care about unlocking all characters (i.e. anti-MTX).
Glad to see Activision still adding update's to this game. Loads of great content in this game. A really good alternative to Mario Kart, I never thought it would be this good...
I bought this and whilst its great value with all the free content, I just hate the way it plays
Got this a few weeks ago but wondering if all thse event GP's drop off or if I will be able to access them all?
Can all these characters be obtain whenever I have the time to play the game? Or are they time-limited?
The levels of fanservice in this game is outstanding. I wish Team Sonic Racing got anywhere near this level of post launch support.
@Moroboshi876 You can get them at anytime iirc.
Another free track? Awesome. I wasn't expecting new tracks after the Bonus Cup got completed. This makes Mario Kart 8 DX a lazy port.
Today brought us both Megamix and Byleth.
One is a character that no one saw coming... the other is Byleth, which someone could see coming given Sakurai admitted to love Fire Emblem to an unhealthy degree.
I've been hyped about all newcomers so far, even with Joker - a character I knew nothing about when he was announced. But today, Activision wins the "greater crowd-pleaser" award. I never imagined myself writing this, and yet here we are.
You guys know how much I love the Switch, because I need portability in my gaming life. I've been loyal to Crash during his GBA years (helmed by N. Sane Trilogy dev team Vicarious Visions), which was also when I got to know Mario and the like. Seeing Megamix brought into the "main" games makes me happy like you have no idea.
@Moroboshi876 @Kidfunkadelic83 IIRC, GP items will be thrown back into the Pit Stop pool three months after their respective GP ends.
@Woomy_NNYes @Not_Soos Yeah and what's really nice is it's easier to earn nitro coins now and you get twice the amount for the dailies than before (started a few months back).
Megamix Mania track is great. Awesome job, possibly my favorite, especially with the shortcut jump being very specific in how you're able to make it.
I didn't even know they were going to make new tracks after Christmas. The trailer brought a huge smile on my face when I saw Megamix. It's been almost 18 years since I beat the first GBA Crash.
@BlueOcean
Me neither so it's safe to assume they'll make three more to fill another cup.
@Luffymcduck That would be awesome.
@Luffymcduck I'm pretty sure new grand prixs will be monthly until march, spring, or June. Something like that.
@patbacknitro18 and viscount from crash boom bang
