A fresh batch of official character renders for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has appeared, giving us a good look at some of our favourite villagers (islanders?) in the new game, and confirming an absolute bombshell: they can wear long sleeves!
We jest, of course, but this is actually a series first and will no doubt add another small dose of personality to each animal you meet. In past entries, any clothing worn by an animal was immediately transformed into a sleeveless variant, but now we can see them wearing full-sleeved woolly cardigans and hoodies and they're somehow even cuter than before.
The following scan comes from the March 2020 issue of Nintendo Dream (with thanks to Japanese Nintendo):
We've recently been treated to screenshots, pre-order bonuses and special merch for the game, but it still feels like there's plenty we don't know about it. If you missed the news, Japanese magazine CoroCoro has teased a "scoop" in an upcoming issue, so hopefully more information is headed our way soon.
If you're interested in grabbing a copy of Nintendo Dream (the source for the character renders above) you can do just that by ordering issues from Play-Asia.

Crossing fingers for Coco
Enough with the tid-bits of information, just give me the game
Remember that video of the Windows 95 launch with Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer dancing on a Rolling Stones tune?
Well that's me when I see villager news.
Yay...! 😃
I saw Apollo, Jay, Hamlet, Colton, Curt, Rod & Goose. 😘
They are my villagers on my ACNL towns. 😉
Crossing finger for Rooney on New Horizons. 🤞
(I want him for his Boxing themed house)
This will be my first time playing Animal Crossing. I haven't looked up very much info but will there be combat between the villagers? What about duels? Maybe sudden death? Blood and gore? How about stealth assassinations? Slapping? Kicking? What kinds of weapons can you find? Short swords? Claymore? What about small daggers? Can you force villagers to wear what you want? Is this game rated E for Everyone or M for Mature Adults Only? If the answers to all my questions are no, then I'm afraid that this game might be for kids. Hehe.
@Bliquid : Those are the kinds of quantum leaps that this revolutionary franchise is best known for.
Maybe in another 20 years, the animals will finally put on some pants.
Being someone who knows almost nothing about Animal Crossing, I'm always befuddled/amazed at these kind of news
"Animals can now have long sleeves"
"Different noses for your character can be chosen"
I'm nervous they are removing custom patterns from the game...
@Xylnox
Animal Crossing is a game for Kids and Everyone without violences.
The game is 100% Peaceful.
no more of lazy tank tops
@Anti-Matter yeah it's another way to fall asleep too
@Silly_G Winnie the Poo is quite frankly, shocked and dismayed you would even suggest that the shirt and trouser-less look is anything but iconic and chic.
Are they new amiibo cards?
@Anti-Matter I know, I was just being sarcastic.
I can't wait to try the game out and have a nice relaxing time with it.
@CairiB : Oh, bother.
@Silly_G ha!! 😂
Come on scoot come on scoot
@Bobb I'm an AC fan, and this stuff bewilders me too. But we've gone so long without real info people are devouring whatever little things we can find from the limited marketing materials released.
Wait! Is that an anteater? I don’t think I’ve seen an anteater in AC before, correct me if I’m wrong.
I like some anteater action.
@KIRO
Anteater has already exist since the first Animal Crossing on Gamecube.
Anteater Cyrano has ever appeared on Animal Crossing movie on year 2006.
@Anti-Matter I’ve owned everyone one of those and somehow missed this critter! Thanks for putting me right, I’ll be keep a sharp eye out from now on
Will amiibo cards work with this and make sure residents don't move out? If so I'm very tempted to purchase the Lucky card
@Bliquid I mean, I'd feel that way, and yet, I think we've heard a lot about meaningful additions. Bringing in features from HHD, crafting, improved fishing a goals system, local multiplayer on a single console (which is huge), lots of QoL improvements etc. I'm less worried about a lack of meaningful additions since this is more than either Wild World or City Folk got, and more that we haven't seen practically anything in terms of shops or characters outside of Nook. There's definitely not enough new stuff yet to justify without at least some returning content but so far we know of none.
im happy that Lilly and Apollo are going to be in New Horizons. (and has appear in my towns in all of the Animal Crossing games.)
Now how about Lucky?
Have fond memories of Groucho from my Wii days, hope he's back in my village soon.
Love seeing my boy Octavian wearing a shirt without a star on it.
Modesty culture run amok!
This is amazing! What an update!!
@Welshland,
Patience fella, patience.
@johnvboy; yes I know mate. I just want the game now lol
@Welshland,
Same here buddy.
