It's crazy to think just how close we are to the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch and still don't know all that much about the game. We've seen a number of screenshots and the Nintendo Treehouse presentation at E3 last year showed off a small portion of the game, but other than that, we haven't heard much else.
While we still hope to see or hear something from Nintendo before the game's big release, according to Japanese Nintendo, the March 2020 issue of CoroCoro Comic promises to have a special "scoop" about this upcoming release. This issue will become available in Japan on 15th February, so we guess we'll find out what the news is then, and whether it's as exciting as CoroCoro is making it out to be. For now, here's a scan of the teaser:
Are you looking forward to the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch? What would you like to see or hear about the game before its release in March? Leave a comment down below.
Oh i can't wait for this
I just had an idea for an Animal Crossing spin-off/sequel that I think could be a lot of fun...
A hotel management simulator in real-time.
You can customise rooms, the pool of hundreds of animals can stay over for a few nights, and sometimes even in pairs, which may arouse gossip among the other guests.
Neglecting the game for long periods of time may result in rooms being trashed, unresolved plumbing defects, and other problems.
The atrium/cafeteria/common area can be used to be used to amass a collection of artworks/decorations (enter everyone's favourite dodgy cousin Redd), and there could be a below-ground level "bar" (i.e. café) where K.K. Slider/Dr. Shrunk will periodically put their talents to work.
And at any time during gameplay, guests may request room service, and at times, guests may try to check out with some of their room's furniture, so suspicious behaviour ought to be called out.
I'm looking forward to New Horizons, but at the moment, I am hardly filled with feverish anticipation as it appears to be more of the same that we have seen for nearly two decades now. Happy Home Designer could have been a step in the right direction had its mechanics been incorporated into New Leaf.
Yes please. I’ve been just trying to forget that this game exists to make the wait easier but in the back of my head I’m hungry for more info. Looking forward to whatever is announced!
Voting to kick someone from your small community in the middle of nowhere?
Animal Crossing New Horizons: Survivor Edition
Especially as it's set on an island. You'd have to kick them into the sea!
"Animal Crossing: New Horizions - Rated 18 for animal cruelty."
In my experience with promotional ‘scoops’, they are almost always nothing exciting in the end
I'm not in all honesty. New Leaf was close to perfect because it was full of good ideas and on a console that was small enough to just slot into a coat and take anywhere. Going back to a home console version (because one cannot just slot the switch into a coat pocket!) is going to be tough, especially as the Switch has no cameras and the QR sharing on 3DS was such a convenient feature.
There might be some unannounced features coming, like some sort of design app for your phone or a link-up with pocket camp.
As we know very little about this game as yet, it's far to early just to be saying it will be more of the same, not that this is much of an issue as i loved all of the previous entries to the series.
But still we need to wait until there is some more info before we start to worry about there being no new ideas in the game.
@Silly_G I like it! Thanks for sharing it
Yes, there’s a big pool of management jobs Animal Crossing can dive into.
A crossover between Roller Coaster Tycoon and Animal Crossing? Count me in!!!
I keep reading this line, or similar "so close to launch, dont know anything about the game"... It's Animal Crossing. Just like Pokemon last year, I am expecting next to zero innovation and just a steady roll out of "more of the same".
They'll dump a load of info in a dedicated Direct in February, but dont expect anything groundbreaking. Animal Crossing is a game for the fans.
My bigger worry is that apart from animal Crossing there’s no other games lined up so far.
I'm excited for the game but I don't really care about getting more information about the game between now and launch. It's Animal Crossing on the Switch, all I need to know.
need to fix the "Game Profile" on the side says players 1 not true
Local is 1 - 4 players
Online is 1 - 8 players
@Rodan2000 True but this time last year was somewhat similar. Mario Maker 2 was only announced in Feb so perhaps in our first non-exclusive Direct of 2020 will bring us the Animal Crossing info as well as other games to look forward to...
Like Pikmin 4
Or a Pikmin x Animal Crossing feature. Little Pikmin roaming around your new island... Now that sounds awesome!
I kind of agree with @Anti-Matter. I've never really been a fan of that mechanic. Sometimes real life gets in the way for people and that's just all there is too it.
But at the same time, I get the idea. A big part of Animal Crossing is the real time aspect. It adds to the simulation quite a bit.
Perhaps they could add a feature where you could send a letter to villagers that lefter and invite them to return? Maybe even make it a quest feature - where they ask you to do something for them to talk them into moving back.
@Friendly Surely you mean Thrillville? That way we get the full range of Animal Crossing gameplay with a theme park builder on top.
How much could there be to announce? It’s Animal Crossing. There will be new animals, new furniture, and some general QoL enhancements, but the game will be the same. It may be HD now, but even the graphics haven’t changed much since the N64 original...
Villagers that you scan in with a card or amiibo won’t leave on their own in New Leaf. Hopefully we can set favourites or something in the new one tho, I agree. Oh, and up the residents to about 20. 😃
I didn’t think about the QR thing, that’s gonna suck. Loved getting others creations and making pixel art clothes for my villagers too.
Ow, that sounds good for ACNL Welcome Amiibo. 😮
Hopefully the Amiibo Card can be used again on New Horizons.
@Fandabidozi I had a sweet overcoat that looked like Ezio's robes from Assassin's creed 2
I just want to be an animal. Let me pick a species and styalize my character.i know it'll never happen but please!!!
I really hope we’ll be able to craft all the special event items we got in Pocket Camp. Some of the fortune cookie items are really cute and well designed. I’m a little bored with the usual furniture series like modern, princess, balloon, etc etc. Even if they are in HD, they’re all boring and old. I also hope they tie the game in with the Switch phone app somehow.
@mother_brain_85 I guess you'll be saving your money for the games for idiots, in that case.
@Likethepear I’m hoping the same thing. I love all the cool furniture series they introduced in pocket camp, I’m hoping they are available in new horizons.
I’ll be picking this up day one, but it’ll still be nice to get a few more details on this entry ☺️
i'm just ready for New Horizons to release already
I'm still holding out for an animal crossing edition switch light. I'm buying my wife one for the launch of animal crossing and I am really hoping they do a special edition with the game.
I got my preorder in this weekend, super excited for a new animal crossing!🙌🏼👏🏼
Also find it funny that everyone keeps think we neeeeed to know more information about AC. I doubt there’s going to be anything too groundbreaking. Though of course I’d love it if there was.. Let’s just be patient and get stoked when it finally arrives!
Once this game drops, I will say goodbye to the rest of my games. Will no doubt put a good few thousand hours into the game, I absolutely love this game
My one and only concern for this game is the island being small - I wanted more space than previous not less/the same.
However, i'm confident I will love this regardless!
CoroCoro is still relevant to gaming news? I thought we stopped caring about it when TPC started releasing trailers itself.
That sounds awesome! My two favourites I made was a Mario’s Cement Factory T-Shirt, the lever is on the sleeve and one with Head on the Front and Heels on the back from the ZX Spectrum game 🥰🥰
