At the start of this year, Activision revealed the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy had shifted more than 10 million units worldwide. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled followed this and managed to finish in first place on multiple occasions.
The success of these classic games led to Activision's CEO Robert "Bobby" Kotick stating how there were "a lot of opportunities" to grow existing IPs such as Crash and Spyro, and even consider "new content" after the remasters. It should come as no surprise then to hear that there's potentially another Crash Bandicoot game in the works.
According to @New_WabiSabi – a leaker with a good track record – Activision has a "new" Crash game in the works:

As noted in the tweet above, this is not believed to have links to the unconfirmed project "Crash Bandicoot Worlds", which is also now believed to be fake. In a follow-up tweet, Sabi notes how the "new" rumoured Crash game is likely being made by Vicarious Visions and possibly Toys for Bob.
Adding to these rumours is a PlayStation ad from earlier this month that featured what is believed to be a new Crash Bandicoot mask. You can get a better look at the 11-second mark in the trailer below.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was revealed at last year's Game Awards on 6th December, so perhaps we'll hear something about a possible new game at the 2019 event.
Can you see Crash making a return after his recent success? Would you prefer a new or old outing? Comment down below.

"Crashing to a system near you"
I hope it does well, the last new original Crash Bandicoot games (Crash of the Titans and Crash: Mind over Mutant) were okay at best.
My first Crash game was the N Sane Trilogy on switch and I loved so I’m really hoping that, if this is true, it will come to switch
If they do make a new one I hope they go all out to really revamp the series. The older games were pretty fun for their time but definitely feel pretty dated now, which was really apparent when I was playing N. Sane Trilogy.
I love the crash games. So I’m all for this
O.My.God
Yes
I have always loved the crash bandicoot series and Spyro series but a totally new game.........?Awesome.....
I'd like the series to do something fresh with the gameplay and to flesh out the lore in a new game. Maybe something more making to jak and daxter or ratchet and clank in terms of feel and gameplay, but with a decidedly crash asethtic.
@BenAV what do you find dated about them? To me theyve aged wonderfully, its basically like playing a 2D platformer but in 3d perspective
I did grow up with ps1 tho so maybe its nostalgia goggles but dont see how its aged any worse then any other 3d platformer
@OYUMN You know, I never tried out any bandicoot or spyro games. I almost bought spyro but I think at the time it was out, I decided on a different game.
@Xylnox if you try the old games you definitely won’t regret it
My personal favs are crash twinsanity and wrath of cortex
Hopefully it won't be as difficult as the first game or the later levels of the 2nd. Actually saw the ad yesterday but didn't notice the mask! Also, Crash Worlds sounds like a mtx mobile game. Yuck.
Maybe they will fix the clumsy design
@Doktor-Mandrake I find it out odd people complain about a 2D platformer in 3D but have no issue playing a game that looks and plays like it came out on a NES or atari 2600
If they do a new one, then please let some old naughty dog crew members have an oversight on it. And bring Josh Mancell and Mutato Muzika back as composers!
I thought it was already announced that was their plan all along when they first decided to remake the games.
Loved Crash, but just because of the memories of playing the original.
Spyro was brilliant, only played the first one originally, but the others were great
I wish this new game would be developed by Naughty Dog, it would be nice for the team to have a small side project like that. Making AAA games like Uncharted or TLOU must be exhausting, I'm sure it would be great for the huge developersllike Naughty Dog to have small side projects like that, it would bring some revenues too between two separate releases.
But thinking of about that, most devs are just doing that with DLCs, and ND did that with Uncharted Lost Legacy which is an hybrid between a big DLC and a sequel. But smaller projects sounds more sexy to me.
Anyway, whoever is in charge, I wish them good luck. There are tons of quality 2D platform games in the indie scene, but there aren't many quality 3D ones.
@Doktor-Mandrake
No offence to Ben, but I've noticed when people use broad terms like "feels dated" or "not the best" or "has its flaws", they never really elaborate and just tend to mirror terms they hear on journalism sites of on YouTube without any context.
Despite my profile picture, I am not the biggest Crash fan in the world as I never had a PS1, but the N Sane Trilogy is just pure fun for me.
The only thing that feels not fun imo are the "curved" edges that lead to crash slipping to his death more often than I'd like in the more precise platforming sections. Other than that, it's one of my favourite games to keep coming back to in order to grind out a few more levels
I hope it comes to Switch
"Activision presents... a smashing blast from the past!"
I'm proud of all of you, I was expecting more coulders (cold shoulders... nyah, forget it) in respect of good ol' Cash Banooca. Born as a Mario rival he may have been, but Crash is actually a love letter to the linear platformers of old.
The warm welcome NL - purists and global gamers alike - has given him is outstanding to see.
@BenAV Rumors are that they are taking inspiration from Super Mario 3D World.
It means they will have linear levels, that you only need to get from beginning to end, but the levels won't be straight and narrow corridors anymore.

Follow the talent not the IP. If it's not made by Jason Rubin and his team then what's the point? It will just be an empty shell.
Guys, while Naughty Dog is not working on the Crash franchise anymore, other studios like Vicarious Visions, Toys for Bob and Beenox can handle the series, they have talent.
My fear is Activision screwing up everything, they killed Crash once, and may kill him again thanks to their greed.
@Doktor-Mandrake I thought the games felt a bit dated too. It felt a bit too tight and a tad clunky (still enjoyable) and the camera angle really never gave you a clear depth to the pits and platforms. I feel that if Crash had a more diagonal top down look like super mario 3d world it would have worked better.
I think the series aged well, especially from games of that era. However, my biggest gripe was the camera angles. I hated that boulder stage because I was basically trust falling hoping that I would land on a platform. Not bad but could be better.
Hmm, the mask floating over by cortex and coco? Looks new to me. Interesting! I would gladly welcome a new crash game to the switch if it keeps in spirits with the first three.
@BenAV @Chunkboi79 When it comes to the Trilogy on the Switch, the games have aged a bit, I do agree with that. But the biggest issue I have is that Crash feels a bit heavy (on Switch at least), making platforming a bit more difficult.
Not unplayable and it's still fun, but it's recognizable.
@AlexSora89 Exactly! Comparing Crash and Mario 64 isn’t fair. Crash has always been more like 2.5D versions of the Donkey Kong Country games.
@SteelSunglass That's honestly what I meant by too tight was heavy. Not real sure why they went that direction with him.
Hey plumber boy mustache man your worst nightmare has arrived! Pack up your stuff...I got a little surprise for you...
I believe they can do something great...just please leave activisions lousy microtransactions OUT this time!
@PBandSmelly It's Activision, they'll launch without them and then shove them in 3 weeks after launch as a giant middle finger.
They lost my trust after Crash Team Racing. I will not buy another game of theirs at launch, and if they shove MTX in at all, then I'm never buying it.
@Chunkboi79 fair enough, crash 1 in particular was bad for that
problem is as well crash 2 also had pretty boring boss battles, and crash 3 had alot of "gimmicky" levels
Still tho, I have huge rose tinted glasses for Crash, my fav game growing up..
A new game will be interesting for sure, if they can make it feel new and fresh while ALSO not taking away too much that it doesn't feel like a crash bandicoot game, then I'm all for it
Wasn't it already confirmed ages ago that there would be a new Crash? Hopefully it will be good, and also on Switch!
