Level-5's Snack World is finally making its western console debut in Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold, which is due to launch Nintendo Switch on 14th February 2020.
A fantasy RPG with a storyline that combines humour and technology, Snack World is part of a multimedia franchise which includes toys, TV shows and – of course – video games. The series started on the 3DS with The Snack World: Trejarers in 2017, but it never made it out of Japan. Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold is an expanded version of the 3DS game, released in Japan under the title The Snack World Trejarers Gold.
Here's the PR:
What happens when high fantasy, high comedy and a high-tech setting collide? A veritable feast of thrilling action, saucy snark and outrageous food puns! SNACK WORLD: THE DUNGEON CRAWL — GOLD, the one-of-a-kind dungeon crawling RPG from LEVEL-5, arrives on Nintendo Switch on 14th February, 2020. Check out the Announcement trailer on our YouTube channel.
Danger threatens Snack World when the evil mogul Sultan Vinegar attempts to resurrect the Deodragon, Smörg Åsbord. In this quirky adventure, customise your character and join the heroic treasure hunters Chup, Mayonna and the gang as they make their way through a slapstick comedy-filled quest to restore order to the land of Tutti-Frutti.
Before setting out, prepare for the next adventure by shopping at curiously state-of-the-art convenience stores for supplies, optimising your gear and more. During your crawl through each procedurally-generated dungeon, search for rare treasure and loot while dodging treacherous traps and defeating brutal bosses. Use ‘snacks’ to summon special allies that assist in battles; switch up your equipment, called ‘jaras’, on the fly; and capitalize on consumables to gain an edge in combat. Team up with friends to take down big bosses with even bigger attitudes in online* and local co-op for up to four players.

I've been pretty interested in giving this one a go since it came out in Japan. Hopefully it's worth the long wait.
Sounds very unique. I might take a look into it.
Oh, gosh...
We will meet General Cinderella, Ugly Fat Snow White as villain, Purple Genies with male stripper outfits, etc.... 😅
0 gameplay in trailer. Good stuff.
Nice, I'm down. Been kinda curious and almost imported it but I'm glad I waited.
Played the Japanese version and watched some of the anime. The game is good fun and the art style is really nice. Glad it's coming to the west.
But is the west getting the toys? Or how about a physical release? I assume this will be a digital-only release in the west.
I was more excited for this years ago when it was first announced for Japan. Somehow the shine has worn off in the years since with so many other great games coming out. It might draw me in at some point though, as Level 5 games are prone to do.
Fantasy Life Switch port next, please
Yikes. ANOTHER game to buy in Q1. In the space of a couple of months, I'm going to have...
Cyberpunk 2077, FF7R, (maybe) Trials of Mana, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and now Snack World...
Might just shut out additional purchases completely until the next year afterwards (barring something enormous like SMT V or BotW2)
Brilliant! My wife loved fantasy life and this looks similar
I Played the Japanese version and Watched the anime, Both are really great. I'm glad we Finally got a release date for both North America and Europe.
About time! Yesss I was looking forward to this! The first quarter is getting more excited now. I totally feel the vibes of Fantasy Life in this one.
Next one, Yokai Watch 4!
For some reason I really want some pork chops now...
I wanted to see gameplay in the video not a music video. :/
Never heard of this but my interest has been piqued.
This looks tight. Please no "roguelike". Wish theyd show some gameplay
It's impressive (not in a good way) that they managed to create a trailer that lasts almost 2 minutes while somehow managing to not show any actual gameplay....all for a game that has been available for literally years in Japan. -_-
"Sultan Vinegar".
Pre-ordered.
Finally! Now I have a game to look forward to before Animal Crossing 😀
Is this the game that's related to the Fantasy Life 3DS games? That is what had me interested initially - but maybe I made that up?!
@Jayofmaya Agree wish there had been some gameplay, though if it's already released in Japan I'm sure I could find some, but it's harder to sell the game when you don't include that in the trailer.
No gameplay footage to actually show off the game.
Does this mean we finally get those snazzy keychains?
DAY ONE BABY! Yaaaaaaaa
@Magician the video shows a picture of the box at the end so it looks like there will be a physical copy.
Really nice art on the box too.
@Nomad - Indeed there is. Very nice. Thanks for that.
I have been waiting for this game to have a western release date since the 3ds -crying- I AM SO HAPPY NOW!!! I've heard that they we're going to originally release the english version on the 3ds but lied about that.
After that was a disappointment in whole, i than found out about them releasing it on the switch, and since than i've been waiting eagerly for it. So i am going to get this game right off the bat q uq
This one comes out the same day as Darksiders Genesis and while I was excited for this one I think I'm gonna snag Darksiders Genesis instead. I only have so much time after all, and my backlog is reaching disgusting levels of huge, so I know what would happen if I bought both- One would get played and the other wouldn't, and since Darksiders Genesis is essentially EVERYTHING i love about video game combat in one package, plus an endless mode and a pretty good post-game situation, I think it's the smart money for me.
