Yet another week has flown by, this time full of Switch controller LED light revelations and stories of what might just be the very first time anyone has managed to reach the Switch's maximum playtime for a single game.
We're feeling more than ready to sit down for some gaming over the weekend, and as usual, we've shared our plans below. Feel free to join in via our poll and comment sections. Enjoy!

Having reviewed The Sinking City for Nintendo Life, I'm still happily exploring the corrupted streets of Oakmont in search of clues, cases and Cthulhu. I'm also really enjoying Astral Chain, because what's not to love about beating up monsters as a futuristic super cop?
This weekend, I'll be revisiting LEGO Jurassic World, because I need very little excuse to jump back into a game featuring multiple miniature Jeff Goldblums. I'll even be taking the Amnesia: Collection for a spin. Expect me to yelp/drop some massive swears in fear as a result. Reviews incoming for both!

For what feels like the first time in months, there’s nothing tempting me in this week’s eShop sale, so I’ll be diving back into Astral Chain. I’m a couple of hours in but most of my time has been spent with tutorials, so I’m looking forward to cracking out the chain and ridding the world of some beasties. That opening sure was something.
And after going on a GameCube nostalgia trip recently in honour of the console’s 18th birthday (keep an eye out for a couple of features going live soon), I plan on firing up the Wavebird and spending time with some classics: Chibi-Robo, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II and the original Luigi’s Mansion. I’ll use the Wii’s backward compatibility for the sake of convenience, although I might get the old ‘Cube out and sit it on the side as I play. That console is a thing of beauty.

This weekend, I’m actually going to be starting a two-week roadtrip through many of the National Parks - so without a proper way to charge my Switch, my plan is to bring my old Game Boy Color and play some throwbacks using good old batteries (and possibly even a worm light). I’ll probably be digging into some Pokémon, Zelda, and even a little Hamtaro (don’t knock it til you’ve tried it) by the fire out in nature.
Looking forward to it!
Ollie Reynolds, reviewer
I'll still be plugging away at Astral Chain this weekend - I'd like to try and get it done before Zelda: Link's Awakening, but it's not looking likely! I'll also be getting back into Super Mario Maker 2 after falling out of touch shortly after launch. I really enjoy making my own courses, but finding the time to actually put in the effort is incredibly difficult!
Ryan Craddock, staff writer
Just like Ollie above, I'll more than likely be trying to work my way through more of Astral Chain this weekend in preparation for other things. I'm starting to think that I might pick up the pace a little now and start to move through each chapter a little quicker, as we really don't have long to wait before Zelda: Link's Awakening adorably waddles onto the scene.
With other major releases like Luigi's Mansion 3 and Pokémon Sword and Shield coming right after that, there's just so much for me to get through and so little time. Oh, and Untitled Goose Game arrives next week, too. Help!
Liam Doolan, news reporter
I’m going to download the demo of Daemon X Machina and give the game one more chance. As much as I love mech combat, this just wasn’t doing it for me when I tested out the original demo earlier this year.
Apart from this, I’m still trying to work my way through Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Astral Chain. Admittedly I keep getting distracted by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Mario Maker 2. Oh, I’ll also be playing the SNES app. I’m currently working my way through Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World. That’s it for me this weekend!

I’m lost in the addictive loop of SMT Strange Journey Redux. On the 4th area so I’m probably nearing the half way point.
Astral Chain is giving me a refreshing change of pace when I need a pallet cleanse.
Daemon X Machina has caught my attention this weekend, it’s much better than I was expecting and yet again review bombing had me thinking graphics could be questionable, but actually the trailers and gameplay videos do not do its unique art style justice.
Also finally started Nathan Drake collection on the PS4 showing it’s age but I’ve been mean to get around to it for years.
@JoeDiddley couldn’t get into strange Journey eastern dungenon crawlers are something I like the idea of but struggle to hold my attention. Have you looked into vaporium on the switch?
Dark souls remastered on switch, ds3 on ps4, maybe a couple of minutes smash(collecting spirits) CTR couple of mins...
Im busy with my second playthrough with Astral chain, on ultimate difficulty.
SPOILERS!!!!!!!
After the end of the game you get an extra chapter 12 and a lot of side missions.
I wil start with machina X daemon today,
And maybe I start with fire Emblem also today choises choises.
Good weekend all!!
@Mince I love Etrian Odyssey and SMT games so this hybrid is perfect for me. I find it addictive and relaxing. I’ve not been sleeping well recently so I’m often playing until I fall asleep!
I haven’t heard of that one, I’ll give it a look thanks.
EDIT: it looks good, thanks for letting me know. Labyrinth of Refrain is on my watch list too. But I’ve not retired by 3ds for this type of game just yet.
I finished chapter 9 in Celeste (which was incredible) and now I'm mostly just playing Daemon X Machina and clearing my dailies in Tetris 99.
@JoeDiddley It’s western style dungeon crawler but probably one of the few genres I prefer by the west.
Btw... I had sleep problems turned out it was the screens for me, I now have a strict no screen 1 hour before bed rule. ( it was hard) but it has improved sleep quality dramatically cause brains not active from games in bed nor from blue light from the screen.
@JoeDiddley also demon gaze on PS4 was a good j dungeon crawler.
The SNES games have made me drop Astral Chain for the time being with Super Metroid being the main culprit. I'm in the wrecked ship so not too long to go and then a bit of Mario World and the utterly gorgeous Yoshi's Island, all with Zelda, Demons Crest and a couple of others waiting
These four games:
Astral Chain
Grandia
River City Girls
Dragon Quest XI S demo
@Mince thanks. I hear that about screens. But my problem is staying asleep. I wake up early. And falling asleep early when I want to be gaming instead!
I focus mainly on eastern rpgs. So I need to expand my horizons. Like like limiting myself to east coast hip hop only.
Where is the "something else" option?
Playing Borderlands 3 myself (on PS4)
Perhaps a little Torchlight II in between
Skies of acadia for me this weekend, took to ebay and bought the gamecube legend edition. Cost a fortune
Astral Chain, Superbeat Xonic, Tetris 99 and Yoshi's Island.
I think it's time for me to delve into Dragon Quest XI's demo too. I'm a bit late since I didn't want to juggle both it and Fire Emblem and then Astral Chain came out just as I finished Three Houses. I want to try it out before I decide to buy it even though I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it.
I really need to go back to Celeste now that the 9th chapter has been added. Absolutely loved the game and was one of the first ones here to sing its praises when it came out. I never did all the extra stuff, mainly because I was so satisfied with the main game I thought it was perfect place to end. I want to do those first before I start the new chapter to get me back into the groove. I think I'll start playing once I finish Yoshi's Island so probably next week.
I’ll be playing Blasphemous. I might dabble with the SNES games. Then when I’m bored, shrine hunting in BOTW with a side scoop of DOOM 2016
I've been playing Astral Chain. Really enjoying the visual look and the story is starting to get quite interesting. Not so sure about the combat. As ever with Platinum games I can't really tell what's going on half the time and whether my inputs are really changing anything that's happening (even after going through the tutorials). I think it's just I'm not really used to this style of game - 2D fighting games are more my thing when it comes to combo based fighting. I will definitely finish the game however.
I've been buying up a few 3DS games as well so will look at Persona Q2 and then continue with Xenoblade and Pokemon Ultra Sun. I'm wondering how long it's going to be before the majority of 3DS games are out of print and hard to get hold of.
I'm drawing some design for my calendar project on paper this weekend, so this morning i played Dance Dance Revolution MAX 2 PS2 USA for 2 hours, have unlocked some hidden songs and have made 2 Stepchart Edit.
After drawing time, i will consider Fantasy Life 3DS
And possibly Dragon Quest Builders (Switch) or LABO 01 Variety Kits too.
Astral Chain for the win! I am totally drawn into this world. Just completed File 4.
To lighten the mood I will also put some very entertaining minutes into Heave Ho... which is more fun in solo mode than most reviews give it credit for.
Happy weekend and happy gaming!
@BarefootBowser You are not late, jump on in, it is a great game! Enjoy it!
@BenAV Celeste is a great game. I beat Celeste in normal mode, but it was hard for me. I hear Chapter 9 is even harder, is that right?
Hoping to finish Dragon Quest VIII before XI releases, so I’m trying to blast through that on 3DS. Such a charming and enjoyable game. I’m also hoping to put another dent in Three Houses, but from what I gather I’m still light years away from finishing that mammoth of a game.
Mario Maker 2, the new DLC for Trials Rising, I picked up Trine 2 on sale and Rocket League.
Waiting patiently for Link next week.
Happy gaming everyone!
@dugan Really hard. I've beaten the game, gotten all the strawberries, beaten the B-Sides and beaten the C-Sides with less than half as many deaths as I had in chapter 9.
Switch: Astral Chain
Ps4: Remnant: from the ashes
Blasphemous has been my main game this week, and really impressed with it. Has a really great atmosphere and interesting set of characters, which set it apart from other Metroidvanias on the Switch. The enemy variety is quite good with a fair amount of challenge. The real challenge lies with the platforming required to get some of these optional items. There is one item at the top of a room that requires you perfectly dodge a swinging incense burner. That had me on the edge of chair more than some of the (amazing) boss battles.
Second playthrough of Gears 5 and making more progress in Astral Chain.
Playing Hollow Knight with my new Pro controller this weekend. Both are terrific! Also finishing off Shadow Warrior on ps4.
Wow, Nintendo Life. You removed The Sinking City review from the top page feature so it would be further down the articles so people would be less likely to go to it and see the comments? You think I wouldn't notice while you also don't address me on Twitter? How dumb do you think I am?
I've been playing Ni no Kuni on Switch because that's how it works.
Playing Super Metroid on NSO, some Smash Bros Ultimate as usual and maybe start a 2nd playthrough of Astral Chain which is quite amazing
This week I will be mostly playing
Breath of the Wild
Mario Maker 2
Snipperclips
I’ve just completed the dk dlc for mario rabbids which I absolutely loved I thought it was amazing a thing of beauty. And I’m just going to try Skyrim again as I’ve already started but struggled to get into it so I’m going to try again
Spyro Trilogy of course – a 3D platform trilogy remaster that run well in handheld as well as docked – easy choice of what to play.
Also dabbling with my Vita Slim, playing Spelunky HD as always, and some Wipeout Pulse, and a bit of Monkey Ball BB.
Meanwhile I've strangely stop playing at the very final dungeon of LoZ Spirit Tracks on a nice conditioned DSi XL I got from Game for an amazingly mere £10 for some reason. I think I just don't want the game to end.
Nothing Nintendo themed since I just got my PS4.
I finally finished off my first time with Devil May Cry 5 by finishing the game on DMD (which in turn means that I've finally succeded in my quest to finish every game in the series on DMD). It was actually a rather pleasant and fair challenge, all things considered.
I also picked up Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts 3 and the Castlevania Rondo/Symphony collection on sale. I just started up P5 and the beginning hook is certainly eye-catchingly different compared to the rest of the series. Looking forward to see where it goes from there.
I have an 11 hour flight to Phoenix tomorrow, will be playing Astral Chain for as long as the battery lasts...
Well right now I'm playing through A Link to the Past and will probably jump on Paladins for a while afterwards... but I am very tempted to double dip on Torchlight II.
While I wait for my replacement joy con, Zelda and Witcher, I’ve dusted off my still gorgeous enamel navy blue Japanese import DS and have become somewhat obsessed with Advance Wars Days of Ruin. So good! And the hardware just begs to be taken out and about.
Currently planning to play Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, the original one on Wii. As for other games, not sure yet, I may lean for CS:GO on PC since it's been awhile since I could sit down and play some casual matches.
Well, I played through that Majora's Mask 3D restoration mod I mentioned last week, and I just finished a second playthrough of the mod in a 3-heart challenge. Majora's a lot more annoying without the Fierce Deity Mask, especially when she can kill you in 1-2 hits.
@CrimsonMoonMist was also thinking of picking up dmc eventually. Only problem is I've only ever played part 3, so not sure if the story branches out and I'll get lost in the plot. Do u recomend playing the others first?
Borderlands 3 and nothing else. So addictive.
SNES Super Tennis, trying to learn how to play it properly. It seems way better than Mario Tennis. Quick sessions of Super Smash. May be look at getting a budget eShop game.
Astral Chain, Fire Emblem 3H, and the very generous Dragon Quest XI-S demo.
Bit of SNES, just hit dark world in Link to the Padt and also running some rifts in Diablo.
Star Wars Pinball for me.
Started Astral Chain this morning have already had to restart the game 4 times. Word of advice for new starters who are picky about semblances of realism: ensure your character has the default skin and eye colours and choose a Japanese name; otherwise the “twins” bit will not really work.
Frankly temporarily lost interest in the game because of this BS so may start up something else.
The usual Animal Crossing NL dailies/weeklies, Super Kirby Clash, and Minecraft are set in stone. Otherwise there might be Overcooked 2 - gotta 4 star those new DLC levels - and maybe Kirby's Dream Land 3 via SNES Online for multiplayer. Hard to say whether I'll be playing Story of Seasons this weekend since I've been neglecting it in favour of non-gaming hobbies lately (I know, utter blasphemy) but the urge to continue is only getting stronger. I love this franchise.
Have a nice weekend, everyone, and happy gaming!
@Pirlo_ze_sniper DMC5 is sort of like the Metal Gear Solid 4 of DMC in that it actively revels in paying lip-service to every corner of the franchise, from the games themselves to even stuff like the non-canon prequel novel to the first game and the animated series.
Luckily, unlike MGS4, DMC5's cutscene-to-gameplay ratio is much better. The game does contain a summary of each game's plot, but I haven't checked up on how detailed it is.
Personally, I'd recommend at least checking out DMC4 beforehand since the big emotional crux of the final act of the game lies in Nero's personal development, but I'm sure that the summary in the game does a good enough job in catching you up to speed. Either way, I'd say DMC5 is the only game in the franchise that truly feels like it can go toe-to-toe with DMC3 in every aspect, so going straight from 3 to 5 won't feel like the comparatively incomplete package that 4 provided.
This morning, I’ll be trying the Daemon X Machina demo to see if I like it, and then I’ll be playing more of the (excellent!) The Messenger. If I end up going anywhere, it’ll be Pokémon GO time!
Later today, I’ll be having friends over, so we’ll play a lot of Smash Bros (Ultimate AND Melee!), and hopefully, if my NES works, Pro Wrestling (if it doesn’t, we can always use Switch Online 🤷♂️).
Everyone have a fantastic weekend!
Edit: My NES works!! Forget Daemon X Machina, time for Urban Champion!
@Mince enjoy 2, it's an absolute beast of a game, genuinely as close as it gets to playing as indianna Jones!!
Yakuza Kiwami and Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, with a bit of Final Fantasy XIV thrown in for good measure.
God eater 3 and prepping for World end syndrome
Picked up DxM yesterday and played for a few hours last night. The changes are just what I needed. I moved around the HUD elements and have been having a blast.
Playing way too much of Fire Emblem Three Houses. I’ll throw in River City Girls and Smash on the Switch as well.
I finished Astral Chain earlier this week and I wanted to have a clean slate when Links Awakening arrives. Well...that didn't last long as i went and bought Sydney Hunter. It's pretty fun, can be difficult at times. I also finally tried out creature in the well which i was highly hyped for, and I'm not loving it unfortunately. This is the kinda game that could've used a demo. Ill try and give it a few more chances before i really give it my final take. Lastly, more snes games before i let my sub run out. I'm not renewing until late November/early December when the releases slow down.
I keep buying switch games I want, but I suspect divinity original sin 2 will push them all into my backlog for the forseeable future.
Funnily enough, I'm actually playing Chibi Robo on my gamecube as well! Going to also try to get my wife to play more Zelda on the SNES, shes loving it so far!
Snes games and trying to finish The Witcher 3 on xbox before links awakening. Not going to happen😁
Played DaemonXMachina yesterday for two hours and my whole weekend is ready for this game. But I also want to play some F-Zero in between.
40 hours in on FE now. Probably still got a fair way to go! Some Slay the Spire too (my goty so far).
Very very tempted to pick up Divinity, but Witcher 3 is not far off.
Throne Quest Deluxe, Atomic Heist and Minecraft for me this weekend.
I keep saying Inhave to get back to Three Houses so I can finish it, but I keep getting sucked in by Civ VI. Had my first religious win on Prince this week, now I'm going all-out warmonger with the Roman Empire.
@NintendoByNature Bummer. I was going to try out Creature in the Well. What’s not grabbing you?
@NotTelevision well for starters, there aren't any enemies just cannons. At least for the 35 minutes I've played. I figured hack n slash would have some enemies in it. Unless there is down the road? 2nd problem... So i died and when you do it brings you out of the dungeon you were with no health. I have no idea how to replenish health so I die instantly going back in. I'm sure there's a way to do so but i haven't figured it out. Like I said ill give it a little more time but as it stands I'm not enjoying it.
Astral Chain and the Daemon X Machina demo, still torn on whether to buy the full Daemon X Machina game now or later. The demo is fun but I have so much other stuff to play that the big question becomes "Will I be able to buy it later with Fire Emblem and Astral Chain going out of stock everywhere like 2 weeks after launch?".
Rocket League (Switch) - Been playing online again.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified (Vita) - Mostly TDM with some Operations in between.
Earthworm Jim HD (Windows Phone) - I forgot how much I hate What the Heck!
Ashpalt 5 (Windows Phone) - Need for Speed is better but this is ok.
Spyro, Trials Rising, Splatoon 2, maybe a few CTR races.
@dugan
Have you placed 3rd or better in many of the extreme tracks? (Trials Rising)
I'm hoping Nintendo Life has gotten a review copy of Grid Autosport.... or getting one soon
Astral Chains
Gears 5
Finished Control. But will explore a bit more just because I am not ready to leave yet. It is the most amazing fun-house in gaming history 😂
Need to finish either of the above before moving to Borderlands 3 and IceBorne full-time
Astral Chain, SNES and/or Divinity 2. I wish my order of Control would arrive, but Amazon keeps delaying it
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Batman Arkham Knight
CTR Nitro Fueled
Spiderman on PS4
Closing in on 30 hours deep into Pillars I’d Eternity, that patch came just in time!
Finishing today my Edelgard run on fire emblem. I'm really loving this game, but I will clear some short game on my backlog and then start a blue lions run.
Probably trying the DxM demo, I'm really on the fence on this game. Yesterday I downloaded River City Girls & Blasphemous, so probably also start with that.
@Hylian_Ticipated
You played Ni no Kuni on switch? And? How is it? Framerate smooth? Would you recommend it?
Love playing some Divinity Original Sin 2 on my lunch breaks.
I'm gonna be splitting time between Astral Chain, Daemon X Machina, Three Houses, and River City Girls
I love Astral Chain!!!!!!!!!
Blasphemous , and enjoying it
@dugan I had a hard time with Celeste as well. I’ve just finished the story mode and wondering if I should play more/ get more strawberries and collectibles. It’s fun and satisfying to play but it is hard and frustrating.
I’m playing Monster Hunter World on Xbox One X, and The Messenger on Switch.
I’ll be starting Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice this weekend. Also thinking about going for more collectibles in Celeste or playing MM2.
Happy gaming all!
I haven’t had as much gaming time as I’d like but I’ve been slowly working through the Dragon Quest XI S Demo and loving it, it’s right up my alley right now. Hopefully my local shop where I have some credit on file will get the game and I’ll pick it up! Also downloaded the ne DxM demo to see how it stacks against the prototype missions. I forgot about the dailies in T99 so I’ll have a go at that and see if I can break 100 on Ding Dong XL last week I got to 97!
I sold Astral Chain because of rage quitting. I’ve never done that with a game before, but the controlling of two characters at once was too much to handle without being frustrating. I’m a bit salty about the topic since I DO like the game. I’ll buy it again someday to finish it >.>
Borderlands The Pre-Sequel so I can move onto Borderlands 3, & Gears of War 4 so I can move on to Gears of War 5.
Also, my brother and I restarted Dying Light so we can finally get around to playing ‘The Following’ expansion.
I may try to squeeze in some Astral Chain, but not likely.
@Lucien0sanchez
My brother had to do the same, I’m so glad I never misplaced my copy.
However, I’m in the same boat as you with Paper Mario:TTYD. Like an idiot, I traded it in back in the day because I was caught up in the Xbox and games with voice acting and couldn’t be bothered reading endless amounts of text in an RPG. D’oh!
That said, I still prefer voice acting in games. I love reading, I just don’t enjoy reading on a tv screen.
Divinity OS 2 for me mainly. Possibly some
Astral or FE, but Divinity has me locked in right now.
For me it’s all about Spyro this weekend! This is the last week where I am not buying a game until the end of november!
Ooh! And I am nearly finished with the Dragon Quest 11 demo, I really appreciate the headstart
@BenAV
Opion so far on dxm?
Thinking of some crash 2 once i bet that ill bounce back to spyro 2.maybe some collection of mana
@DenDen I'm eight hours in now and enjoying it a fair bit so far. The story is nothing to write home about but the gameplay is a lot of fun. At first it felt a little clunky but then I discovered that it has gyro aiming which makes a big difference for me, nice and smooth now.
On the Switch I'll still be playing Octopath Traveller...the game that never seems to end..or it does and I'm just not good enough to see it.
Another game that I'm convinced really has no ending that I'm still playing after 150 hours is Assassins Creed Odyssey.Fantastic game and just started Chapter 8.Not sure how many chapters there are but there is still a fair bit of the map still to explore.
Also I'm going to give that Dark Crystal series on Netflix a go later as I'm loving the look of the game that's supposed to be out soon.I loved the film back in the day and It looks like they got the look and feels of the original spot on.
As a new Switch owner (just got mine a couple of weeks ago), I'm going to be focusing heavily on the Switch. I've already played some Smash Ultimate and Hellblade on it, and I think I'm going to see how much more headway I can made in Super Mario Odyssey (which by the way is the Super Mario 64 successor I've always wanted).
I'm on the final chapter of Astral Chain, will probably finish it this weekend. Then I will continue with Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and WarioWare Gold.
I lost my Switch charger while travelling so I’m slowly running it down on SNES Online until I can pick up a new one. At about 30% battery and playing Super Metroid for the first time, loving the Alien vibe.
So I got FE and absolutely hated it. I have really enjoyed Blasphemous so far. It is so pretty and challenging. My most played game for the week is Torchlight 2. I can't put it down. Everytime I do I end up just picking it back up. Almost as fun as D3. And of course my old go to Dark Souls Remaster. I am addicted to the pvp in that game. A mario game has to go in there so I guess I have played Mario Maker 2 a lot. That's all until next week. Have a good one.
Clustertruck World 9-10 (Satan Truck). I have been stuck on the last level for an eternity. I finally have a strategy, but have only had a few chances to try it out.
For a game that otherwise brilliant threads the very-difficult-but-fair needle, what a maddeningly impossible last level.
@Likethepear
Question.
How do you enjoy Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival ?
What is the best part to enjoy that game despite of the critiques ?
Not a lot of gaming for me this weekend due to a busy volunteer schedule and things I need to do around home on top of that. I will at the very least participate in a little of Community Day in Pokemon Go tomorrow; I can net plenty of Turtwig normally, but I'm also not one to turn down shinies. XD
I also hope to play a little Kirby's Adventure and begin tackling Dragon Quest IV's post-game.
Have a great weekend!
Trying to get back to Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. Been playing a fair bit of Kirby Clash lately. Also Radiant Historia PC on 3DS.
I'm currently playing River City Girls with my wife. It's taken awhile for the combat to click. Once I realized that EATING restorative items actually gave us permanent stat boosts, we started grinding and the game has thankfully gotten a little easier.
I'm also finishing up the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC from Mario + Rabbids. Picked it up on sale a couple weeks ago, and even though it's easier than the base game, I'm enjoying it even more, due to the tropical themes, and DK and Rabbid Cranky are super fun (even though they are stupidly OP at times) to play as.
I also picked up Astral Chain recently, so that will definitely be the next single player game I hit up (along with Borderlands 3 to play in coop with my wife once we finish RCG).
Playing through Spyro: Reignited Trilogy. Just 120% Spyro the Dragon and am now starting Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage.
@BenAV ouch no way.. ! That is not encouraging haha.
I just beat Fire Emblem! So now I’m digging into some of these to hold me over until Zelda and Goose Game:
Finally started Astral Chain... I'm enjoying it so far... Nothing else for a couple of weeks now that I'm stuck into this. I have ordered Daemon X Machina also so will play that at some point.....
Currently playing final fantasy 8 remaster and astral chain. Also started playing Zelda on the snes for the first time ever. Only played 10 minutes so far but not sure what all the hype is about at the moment. Hopefully it will get more enjoyable.
I'm playing with my lite switch. So much fun flicking it on and off!
I should be able to start Daemon x Machina tonight since I had a bunch of bull happen yesterday and I wasn't able to pick up my copy.
Im at the end og my first three houses run. At least I think that I'm close to the end. If i finish it this weekend i will start astral chain or finish dqb2
Due to a busy schedule and living in the middle of nowhere, I haven't been able to pick up either of the new games I want (Astral Chain and Daemon X Machina) I'm mostly playing Wii U. In particular, I'm really getting back into Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water because for some reason I gave up on it not long after I downloaded it, but I've recently discovered it's actually quite fun.
I'm afraid I won't be playing much of anything for the foreseeable future as far as my Switch is concerned. My neon red & blue Joy-Con both have Joy-Con drift and my printer is out of ink so I can't print out a shipping label to get them repaired.
So far, the only kind of games that I have are the free-to-play kind with Brawlhalla being the only one that can be played offline. The problem there is that the only way I can get online is through my phone's hotspot. It worked fine for about 3 months up until about a week ago when my phone service provider revealed to me and one other via Twitter that tethering other devices to my phone to allow internet access with their service was against their terms and conditions.
I do have a PC with Sims 3, but it crashes a lot, a PS2 with DBZ: Budokai 2 & SSX3, and a Dreamcast with lots of games, but it's annoying to have to change out the RCA cables every time I want to play one or the other. I also have a Wii U, but that console and controller both are in need repairs.
Sorry for the long and depressing comment lol. Happy gaming everybody.
@Koudai1979 I actually have that same problem with printing off the label except I just don’t have a printer. At this rate, I might just wait until Uni starts back to use their free printers.
I’ll probably continue powering through Horizon, ignoring Anthem being free with Access, being really excited because OOTP XX is now free on Access and continuing my first playthrough of Yoshi’s Island which I somehow haven’t played before now.
I downloaded a bunch of Johnny turbo arcade games since they are 50% off but I doubt I play most of them LOL. I played the Daemon X machina demo and I thought I might like it but it just isn't clicking for me so I'm going to pass on this game for now. I'm going to go ahead and play more of Saints Row the Third and Hollow Knight... I've been putting those off for long enough. And more than likely SNES.
I am finally playing Demons Crest again - this is such an underrated SNES Gem!
Got all the crests and am just going for that real final boss now.
It holds up pretty well im terms of control, graphics and gameplay and has some of the finest music.
@nessisonett I've always wanted to play Horizon: Zero Dawn (if that's the "Horizon" that you're talking about). I also haven't played any Yoshi's Island game, but I did give the Yoshi's Crafted World demo a go. My two 5 year old nephews loved it.
I haven't been interested in anything by EA since that whole Mass Effect 3 on Wii U debacle. I have ME3 on my Wii U, it's a great game, but it sucks that they released it on the same day that they put the trilogy on PS4 & XB1 for the same price.
I also tried Madden NFL '13 on the Wii U. I took it to my local used game shop a week after I bought it because i like playing my NFL 2K games on my Sega Dreamcast better lol.
I am really into hero shooters like Paladins, though, and I can't wait for Overwatch to arrive on Switch! I've also been watching a few streamers playing Apex Legends and I'm hoping that game makes it over, too.
Playing Deadly Premonition. What a bizarre game.
Star Wars Pinball
I'm doing some Infinity Rifts on Marvel Ultimate Alliance on the Switch and messing around in Job Simulator on the Quest.
I started Xenoblade Chronicles 2 recently (finally) so a bit of that. Enjoying the world and most of the characters and music, just wish i had more time to play. I suspect it will be next year before i finish it.
Also squeezed in a bit of mario kart and stunt race fx on the snes app. Happy memories
Dragon quest xi demo almost done with that: game seems fantastic can’t wait for the full release in 2 weeks.
Then back to Fire emblem 3 houses. I am about half way through golden deer run. Got 2 weeks to complete before Dragon quest:
Will come back to do the other houses next year as there is a cavalcade of interesting games coming over the next couple of months.
@Woomy_NNYes "Extreme"? are you kidding me? "Hard" is hard enough for me, even with the analog stick (thank you for helping me with that!) That said: even with "easy" and "medium" the game is well worth the price. The game is great!
Are you able to complete "extreme"? That is super cool!
@Mamabear I like what you said "it is fun and satisfying, but hard and frustrating" That is the game, definitely. I died over 5000 times. At the end, nobody liked my strawberry pie. So, I did go back and collect more strawberries to see their different reaction. Personally, I almost never play a game twice. Part of what drove me through Celeste was the great story line. If I played it a second time, I would not have that motivation. But also, I did go back to see how those "helps" worked, and it was fun to have infinite boosts. Happy gaming, friend!
This weekend, I unfortunately only have time for the Pokemon Go community day event.
@dugan Ah! Forgive me for be so casual about getting to Extreme. I recognized your username from a month ago, but also thought you were someone that has gotten to Extreme levels on Trials Fusion and Trials Rising. Sorry about that.
Have you unlocked all University of Trials lessons? If you haven't, single player leveling is so slow that its useless for unlocking later lessons -lessons you greatly benefit from. I unlocked all the in-game-lessons with online matches, which levels you way faster, even if you're not winning. So, if you still have lessons locked up, leveling up with online matches is the way to go.
On Trials Fusion, the hard levels were my absolute limit. They looked insane & mystifying. I couldn't have gotten to Extreme on Trials Rising without unlocking all the University of Trials lessons. The lessons take the mystery out of the toughest parts of Hard, and much of Extreme. When you take the mystery out of the toughest obstacles, it makes the game way more fun.
I've squeaked through most Extreme levels (last place), and a few I've managed a bronze medal. But I've never been able to finish, Inferno V; One spot is my achilles heal. I've gotten past it before, but still run out of time struggling on something after it.
After the weekdays surprisingly dealing more with the laptop (a pinball run between FFXIII, GRID 2, RAGE - talk about a caps lock event - and a bit of Divine Divinity), I've spent the weekend's gaming bits mostly on BotW and Diabolical Box again. The latter's story keeps adding more mysteries and seeming foreshadowings (the same thing that was a big part of Curious Village's appeal) whereas the former has granted me a few promising unlocks and arguably one of the most memorable characters in the whole game so far.
@JoeDiddley. Strange journey is a special game. Enjoy it.
I've just played the COD:MW beta this weekend. It's shaping up to be a fantastic game.
I'm very late joining the up-to-date crowd as I have only had my switch for a year or so now. So, I played Astral Chain to experience the up-to-date game, Darksiders and Fire Emblem Warriors for catching up.
I have a good time with Astral Chain in docked couch co-op mode. But I was expecting a solid 10/10 score which didn't happened, it went down a bit to 9/10. But still it is a wonderful game worth all the penny! Here are my thoughts:

Being very late to join the crowd playing Darksiders, I tried to do some catching up. I find it quite entertaining. Here are my thoughts:

Also trying to catch up with Fire Emblem Warriors. While I agree on most things in the review here. I do have one thing to add about the co-op, the mini map felt so damn small to a point where it doesn't help at all. Other than that it's an okay game with 8/10 score.
Oh wow I don't know that game everyone likes..
Daemon X Machina is my only September, Not a fan of that new Zelda game and Borderlands 3 is a buggy (and controversial) mess, never really liked the games in the first place.
Id say Astral Chain is on my mind too but I wasn't poor and pre-ordered that months ago and finished it a couple days ago.
@CrimsonMoonMist ok finished dmc 4, gonna hop on 5 now. Thanks for the recommendation
