Update (27th Aug, 16:15 BST): Capcom has now officially unveiled the game and it has been confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch. A press release states that the game will be available for $29.99 on 21st January 2020 both "digitally and at North American retail locations".
Original Article (27th Aug, 04:30 BST): Leaks happen too often nowadays, and today is one of those days. A listing for Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection has appeared on the PlayStation Store in Hong Kong.
In case you didn't know, Capcom hasn't even officially announced this game yet, but it's due to arrive on 21st January 2020. While this listing is currently limited to the PlayStation Store, like previous Mega Man collections, you can expect this one to be released on multiple other platforms, including the Switch.
According to the store's description, the collection will include six classics: Mega Man Zero, Mega Man Zero 2, Mega Man Zero 3, Mega Man Zero 4, Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent. The Zero games were originally released on the Game Boy Advance and the ZX games debuted on the Nintendo DS.
This collection will also include an artwork gallery, music player, special filters, a Casual Scenario Mode, Save-Assist feature, and leaderboard-based Z Chaser Mode. While we wait for a more official confirmation, check out the trailer (thanks, Gematsu).

Unlike the Disney Afternoon Collection, this one is definitely coming to all platforms.
January 2020? Why’s it gotta be so far away!! I can’t wait. Here’s hoping and praying for a Battle Network collection soon after.
Here's to hoping that there will eventually be a Battle Network collection. Maybe a Star Force collection too, but that's more of a stretch.
This actually sounds pretty awesome! Hopefully a physical release is in-bound!
They released the other collections on Switch. It would be silly not to release this one on Switch too.
All these games were on Nintendo platforms originally, it would be stupid not to release these on Switch considering they are just a collection of GBA/DS roms.
Sad that we never got a proper conclusion to ZX which looks less likely than Legends...
Just wait, it'll be confirmed in that September Direct.
This is great news, assuming it does come to Switch. I've been playing Megaman 9 on my Switch and loving it. What would be really nice is it they could include a good map feature of some kind for the ZX games. Also, I think these would be the first GBA and DS games on Switch, correct? I hope Konami and Nintendo follow this up with a Castlevania Collection and Advance Wars collection! Please, please!
Oh man I cannot wait for this collection. Only played the first two, so this would be 4 brand new games for me!
I have this on my DS still and judging by the behavior of Capcom recently, it’ll have like Zero 4 on the cart and the others as download.
Am I tempted by this? Oh you better believe it. But I’m not getting my hopes up for one second.
Hopefully it comes to the Switch. It’s probably gonna be revealed during the September Direct. And I cannot wait for this collection. I have been waiting for a collection on the Mega Man Zero/ZX games for awhile now. About time.
That Direct is definitely happening soon. Probably next week or the week after that.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of only 2 mega man games that I own not as part of a collection, being zx, and now I'll actually play it! THANK YOU CAPCOM!!
Now where's our ancillary collection of legends 1 and 2, command mission, wily wars, powered up, rockboard, mega man soccer, and the power battle 1 and 2?
Also battle network and starforce, but I want that ancillary collection as well!
Also no chance in all hell that it won't be on the switch, since inti creates made these and they just said that all of their future games for a while would be on the switch.
"Ware wa Meshia nari! HAHAHAHA!!!"
I was beginning to wonder if these would ever get packed into a collection for modern systems. I'll venture to guess this is Switch-bound. Mega Man Zero always struck me as X's older and more mature brother, and I don't think I was old enough to fully appreciate them the first time around. I can't wait to jump back in.
Legends next, please?
I think I have this collection for my DS?
So are the GBA games going to be on the Cartridge and you will download the DS games? 😆
NICE! This is awesome
Capcom will most likely screw this up as usual.
They could have put the previous Mega Man collections on a single cartridge (each spawning their own icons for the two separate units of software as Ubisoft have done with some of their compilation releases), but they'll likely pull the same crap as they have with previous releases.
The Mega Man X collections were issued separate cartridge releases in Japan, which is more forgivable than what they had done with the original games, but Capcom being Capcom, they can't be relied on to do right by the Switch in terms of physical releases.
@ecco6t9 Since they can't even handle NES and SNES games on one collection, I doubt they will with this. ZX and ZX Advent are likely digital downloads. Seems Capcom favor Street Fighter more than Mega Man and Resident Evil when it comes to collection. Street Fighter got complete physical collection but Mega Man and Resident Evil always got the shaft with half being physical and the rest being digital. In this entire generation, only Sega and SNK did physical collection right, every other companies tend to screw things up one way or another when doing compilation.
Yeah, I didn't think of that before someone posted about it, but I'd love to have Megaman Legends 1 and 2 on Switch. Maybe they could finish 3 also? And bump them up to 60fps! That'd be sweet!
That's pretty awesome to see! These collections make me feel like Sony and Nintendo have communicated they don't wanna sell individual small games anymore. You could buy those games for like $5 each for Vita as an example. With no virtual console on Switch, this may be the only way to get these games. Konami, Capcom, and Sega (to name a few) have released collections. I'd love to see Nintendo sell the SNES classic bundle. Get all 21 titles for like $39.99. I'd buy that in a heart beat. The NES one, too.
@retro_player_22 depends on the region, though. Japan has gotten some collections released physically like Mega Man X vol 2 where as we only got a download code in the West. This could be a digital only title in EU/NA but could easily get a physical release in Japan and it would likely have English like the others.
I’ll definitely buy it!
@Nintendofan83 you're forgetting sega ages is delivering individual titles too. I don't think there is any rule at Nintendo/Sony but publishers realize they get more sales for collections
Okay guys, I now have proof that this collection may likely come to Switch even though Capcom hasn't confirm it yet. As you all may know the Mega Man Zero games had a collection before and it was released on the Nintendo DS and both Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent were released on the DS so what does all these games had in common besides being Capcom IP? They are all developed by Inti Creates, the same folks that are bringing Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX to Switch and has already released tons of their own games for Switch and if y'all remember the article from the past few days Inti Creates already vow that they are planning to bring everything they can to Switch so this collection may very well be just that as well. Now let's hope Capcom doesn't come along and destroy all this.
Proof:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/08/inti_creates_loves_nintendo_and_intends_to_release_every_game_it_can_on_switch
Inti Creates also developed Mega Man Zero and ZX series as well, since they already vow to bring more games to Switch, the Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection is a guaranteed bet that we will see it on Switch soon:
Can't wait for September as with all these rumors I say an direct is incoming next month
@Discipledoctor
You and me both. Also an starforce collection.
While the 1st party side of my Wii U VC collection is almost nonexistent on Switch (only a bunch of NES games and not even all the NES games I have), at least the 3rd party side may actually be completed thanks to collections.
Hope they release it all on one cart. It's a definite purchase if that's the case.
Good. I already have all 8 classics + 9 and 10 between Legacy Collection 1 & 2, plan on getting all the Xs and now this will be the way to complete the collection. In my case it's going to be on Xbox One and digital for peanuts, when the time comes.
So now there's a Legacy Collection that emulates GBA and DS games. I feel like a Battle Network/Star Force Legacy Collection can't be too far off. Hey, I'm already buying MMZ/ZXLC to add to my growing collection of Mega Man games, I'd buy BN/SFLC on principal alone.
EDIT: I now realize the Battle Network series alone could cover a Legacy Collection 1&2 of its own. I never realized just how many games were part of this series!
@retro_player_22 That is no proof at all, since Inti has nothing to do with the publishing of this collection, it is solely up to Capcom which systems this is released on.
That said, I would be really surprised if this collection wasn’t released on all three consoles, since all the previous Mega Man Legacy Collections were
I already own ZX, advent and the zero collection on ds but I’ll be sure to buy this if it comes to switch.
Before we get too giddy with excitement don't forget that the Disney Afternoon Collection never made it to switch despite it being s collection of NES ROMs. So while I expect it to come I'm cautiously optimistic since Capcom isn't exactly known for making smart decisions.
Haven’t played any of these yet (though I do have the GBA games on Wii U), but how easy will it be to port the DS games? How integral is the second screen, or can it easily just be turned into an extra Pause menu screen?
after Mega Man 11, I thought they'd make a new Mega Man X game before any new legacy collection, but its still welcome, most older, classic franchises should get similar treatment, honestly
Ooooooohhh, yes please. I love the Zero series, and it'd be great to have it on Switch instead of having to play it on my 3DS. I absolutely love having all these Mega Man games compiled on one system. Zero 4 is probably my favorite one.
What would make this collection perfect to me is if they added an option to use Zero's Mega Man X series sprite. I never really liked his Zero series design.
Sees article update Gee, I can't wait to play this on 21st January 21st!
@GameOtaku I'm just guessing, but I have a feeling that in the case of the Disney Afternoon Collection, its absence was due to Disney and not Capcom. Capcom has made it pretty clear that they intend to put every Mega Man game possible on the Switch, and all six of these games were exclusive to Nintendo platforms originally.
While I'll still want to get to this after the other two collections (besides, I [savescummed my way to] beat[ing] four flagship entries before so I can start halfway through the first collection), colour it THE Mega Man release for me. What I've tried of both subseries in advance (no pun intended) remains easily my fondest memories of the franchise.
Definitely getting this if it comes to switch even though I already own the DS collection. The Zero franchise is just so good, especially Zero 3.
I remember playing this when I was in my senior year of high school since we played on our PC's. Great game want the opportunity to buy it for my switch.
capcom if this is for the switch take my money now
I love Zero. Best Mega Man series EVER!! I also love ZX. Not too fond of Advent, but I can deal.
Please make this physical for Switch Capcom and please don't do your crappy half n half.
@Heavyarms55 The Disney Afternoon Collection is proof of their sillyness. Though that coulda been Disney's dumbness.
@Knighty_IX I sure hope so. Bring Inti back onboard for it too.
@ChromaticDracula Eh. Its only six games, that's not hard for them to do. Nm Capcom's been buttheads concerning half n half collections for the Switch, but not for everyone else.
@TheLX Weeeelllll technically they are, IF you consider a mobile game a proper entry. Which I don't.
@gaga64 The second screen is accessible through buttons. It simply brings up a menu, no touchscreen features required.
@gaga64 They were ported onto the WiiU.
Awesome, now the complete mainline Mega Man canon will be accessible to everyone. In my case, I've played EVERYTHING except MMX7 and 8, which I'm working on as we speak.
The Megaman Zero games are my favorite megaman games, I can’t wait to get my hands on this collection.
I wish you could play all games with zero looking like the mmx era zero
@JoakimZ Even if it's up to Capcom, Inti Creates may want the collection for Switch as well. This news did happen after they reveal they are bringing everything they can to Switch.
A US physical release confirmed? Awesome, hope I can grab a copy, EU physical or otherwise.
Sadly the retail release will be butchered like the other Megaman collections thanks to Capcom. Megaman Zero 1-4 on cart! Megaman ZX and ZX Advent download code included. Mark my words.
I'll still get it retail to have atleast some on a cart but that is 100% what's going to happen.
I'm thinking Nintendo had better hurry and announce that Direct - the retailers can't hold everything back, apparently!
How are these compared to the X games? I have not played a single one of them but they look great in the trailer
@redd214 They are actually my favorite Megaman series. I may be biased cause Zero is my favorite character but they are damn good games. Also more difficult than the rest in my opinion.
@redd214
I'd actually argue that Zero is the better series, not a single game in the series can be considered bad. Some might say that ZX or ZX Advent might be weak, but I think they still hold up well.
The Zero series in part plays a lot like Mega Man X, but in others very differently. Like X4, Zero does not earn new weapons from defeating bosses, but can get a variety of new attack techniques and upgrades.
At the core of the Zero games is the ranking system, which ranks your mission performance based on a number of factors, with an A or S rank rewarding you further. The first game is by far the most challenging to S-rank due to the strict requirements on cyber-elf usage, giving you little to no leeway.
if this was going to launch in only 1 spot it would be switch you'd think, so pretty sure this is multi-platform. I'd like a mega man legends collection next please .
@RupeeClock @redd214 What this guy said lol.
@RupeeClock @Joker13z thanks for the answers, appreciate it
Will Capcom screw Europe out of a physical once again, I wonder.
Good for the fans. I played Mega Man 2 back in the days... the games after didn't get my attention though. Now I did replay it a few years ago... and it's surely not my game. Just played it because someone I knew had it... you just play along and then you find out years later that you played because someone else played. Now i'm playing only the ones I like and not what everybody else like
This is the exact thing I've been clamoring for since the Legacy Collection series started! You bet I'll be there day-one!
Okay Konami, your move, Igavania collection please.
Sweet. Nice to have them all on one system.
Yes please! I love these games
Yes!! I used to to play crap out of these on the Zero Collection on DS. 2020, here we come!
Awesome! I have never played any of these games!
Excellent news. I like how many transformations are in Megaman ZX Advent.
@Tyranexx I'd assume that we'd get Star Force bundled with Legends/Dash if it happens. That'd put it at 6 games (assuming Misadventures of Tronne Bonne is included), the same number as most of the other collections.
Still, I hope these will all be on cart for once... it'd be nice for them not to skimp out. If that's the case, this is an instant buy for me, Zero + ZX are my favorite subseries (with BN, SF, and Legends behind, I know, I'm a heathen for like Classic + X least)
Loooved megman xz and xz advent. Played only megaman Z 3 and 4. Instant buy for me.
I just wish they would make a megaman star force collection (highly unlikely).
@Sinton It's Capcom.
(That means yes)
Luckily the Switch is region free. Importing is an option.
@Xelha cool that you can give it another chance. I've been able to do that with some games. The first game of the Zero series has a few issues that make it a bit more tedious than the others. They made some significant tweaks for the second game that I think make it much stronger, so even if you don't feel compelled to finish the first one, it's worth seeing if you like the second game, and then going from there.
YES!! Thank you Capcom!
I have wanted these on Switch for a long time! Best news of the day for me! Fantastic they put these together as one collection too!
Going to be amazing to have pretty well the entire mainline series on Switch (with the glaring omission being MM&Bass).
it'd be ridiculous if the gba and ds game port ended up being a PS exclusive
@link3710 I'd be fine with that arrangement as I haven't played any of the Mega Man Legends games (other than a poorly emulated version of Mega Man 64 on a friend's tablet at one point). Plus, I like having all of my media on one cartridge. It's a shame that some collections like the Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be split.
I share your unpopular opinion, though I admittedly haven't played any games in the Zero/ZX series. I've played both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge from the original series as well as the first Mega Man X. They're decent platformers, but I'm just not into that type of gameplay nor some of the cheap tricks that are pulled on occasion.
I've always been more drawn to the story and combat elements of Battle Network and Star Force; I have the Mega Man NT Warrior anime to thank for that! XD
YESSSSSSSS!!! I was actually about to buy this collection for DS. I’ll wait for Switch now!
Please no codes Capcom- I’m sure you can jam everything on one Switch card cmon!
Glad to see it's coming to Switch and there will be a retail version somewhere in the world. I'll hold my breath about how much is on the cart, though.
@Tempestryke Just some friendly advice, you can reply to everyone in one comment by just typing @ before their username. Makes things easier for everyone. If needed you can just copy paste their usernames.
@Heavyarms55 Thanks
Thinking about it further, Enough now with Mega Man! What about the OTHER zillion Capcom classics we all want??
Looking forward to this. I do hope it all comes on one cart and I won’t have to import like I did for MMX Vol 1 & 2 collections. I also hope they’ll include both the Japanese and International releases; yet include the ability to customise the text so I can play the Japanese version of ZXA with English text yet without the terrible English VA. The bloodier MMZ would also be nice.
See my proof was true after all. Now here's hoping they are all on the cart if they even had a physical edition at all.
I’ve really only played the first zero game on the gba, but could not progress very far to carry on with the series. How are the ds games in comparison? I’d love to give it a try again the games seem really cool but way harder than your traditional megaman game.
@RedderRugfish While that is true, I feel like Mega Man X has more flexibility in terms of fighting. In Z if you ever get bored of shooting you can use other sub-items that do the same damage. If you ever get bored you have his insane Z Sword which dealt the most damage regardless of the element weakness. X never had any of that and was a traditional Mega Man game (with wall jumps and a dash of course). I'm not saying it's bad or anything (Z is actually my favorite in the series, I like him even more than Blues) I'm just saying Z series went with a different approach.
@TYRANACLES In the DS collection, you were allowed to cheat the method of gaining fairies. I used that method to grant myself a fairy that would save me from fall damage.
@Wavey84 Z2 and Z3 play a lot of the same mechanics. I prefer the third installment myself!
@Wavey84 You're 100% correct, I can remember Tengu Man from Mega Man 8 being awesome! Also Grenade Man, Clown Man, Etc.
Mega Man 8 was amazing!
I'll scream with joy if Capcom would a the Mega Man Legends Legacy Collection for the Switch on day.
I’m definitely picking this up once released. Can’t wait to enjoy these all over again. Let’s hope a Castlevania GBA Collection and Viewtiful Joe Collection aren’t too far behind.
