I'll post my comment again since you deleted it. I understand that there's not much going on in the world of nintendo news, but posting about products that don't have anything to do with it makes no sense. I really do hope you're getting paid for it.
@SonOfVon There have been several Spyro games on Nintendo consoles with a new one coming next month. If you're not interested in the article just don't click on it.
@SonOfVon Considering Spyro Reignited - which this figurine's about - has a confirmed Switch release as is mentioned in the article's first sentence this isn't too out of place, methinks.
I appreciate this Nintendo related news.
@SonOfVon As the previous two comments have said, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which the figure is based on, is coming to Switch next month.
so if they came out with spyro toilet paper and made "an article" about it, it would still be newsworthy and considered good content by you guys?
does anyone else think it looks kind of “uncanny valley” somehow?
@SonOfVon Are you ok? Do you need a hug?
A lot of people that follow this site collect figures. A lot people on this site myself included enjoy basking in the glorious design of figures like this. Can't afford it but i sure as hell like looking at them.
Also as others have pointed out spyro games have been on nintendo systems and a new spyro game will release on switch next month. So spyro has a presence in the nintendo community for some.
You don't like it? Don't click. Simple really. But don't try to deny the logic or reason as to why it's here. You'll just sound crazy.
@Sidon_ZoraPrince yeah, I need hug, who doesn't. my toilet paper analogy was on point. the quality of this once great web site is plummeting. there's more "articles" on what to buy and where than reviews and actual opinion pieces on videogames.
The only figures I buy are Lego, Transformers, or amiibo. In other words, I prefer to waste my money in smaller installments than this.
Too expensive for me, but still cool.
@SonOfVon that’s fairly inconsiderate and self-centered. This site is a blog, not a platform for a singular message. You can’t rule out others’ interests in this posting because of your attitude about blog domain names. There’s no false advertising to police here - it’s a blog, and also has a history of this kind of world-of-gaming variety.
@NinChocolate to be honest. He has a point. This site has gone to quantity over quality for “news” articles. Most of them are clickbait. Or have referral Amazon links.
That’s not news.
I do think, however, that this article is okay.
That things huge lol , I wouldn't have the space!
@sanderev Nintendo and video games are nothing more than consumer goods. At the juncture of a game announcement or review, and game character statue, it’s all personal interest and preference. Not every post should be a review or first party announcement. That’s unreasonable for a blog like this
@NinChocolate however the majority should be. But that isn’t the case anymore.
They named this website Nintendolife. That sets an expectation by the audience. If they wanted to post random Amazon links they should have named it Amazonlife.com. Because that is the current state of this site.
Thank God we seem to have returned to the proper design/look for Spyro. I hope to never see the Skylanders version of him again.
@sanderev I don’t believe the metrics of this site’s postings would agree with you. In the world of products everyone’s at a different stage of consumerism. Some want to read about a product, and many just want the link to buy the damn thing or some related thing like a game figurine. No one speaks for the group here. Impossible. Show me the numbers first
I don’t know, there’s something about that dragonfly. It’s face... it’s staring into my soul....
But the figure still looks cool.
I feel like I would much rather have one of these things about half the size if not less. That way I could actually put it somewhere and it wouldn't cost a ridiculous amount of money.
@Sidon_ZoraPrince
I'll take a hug if they're going.
There really is something disconcerting about their expressions in this. Super creepy statue.
Given Spyro is an upcoming release for the Switch, I would certainly consider something like this to be relevant news!
This statue looks stunning! I've placed a pre-order on the Exclusive edition already! It'll look nice next to my Classic Spyro and Crystal Dragon!
@JayJ They have! Look up the Spyro PVC. It's a much smaller statue (about 8 inches tall off the top of my head) that costs about $80 on average. It's a fab little piece and I would highly recommend it!
I don't know @JohnnyC Legos can be pretty expensive too. As Lego has a Harry Potter Castle for $399.99 on their website which is only like $24 cheaper than these. And if you want one of the sold out Star Wars Sets brand new that'll set you back over $15,000.
@HipsterDashie Oh wow I am surprised they don't advertise those smaller actually affordable statues, they sound like they would appeal to a much wider audience.
As much as I would love to get something like this for my wife as an anniversary gift, me thinks I'll stick with my original plan of the Mighty Switch Force Collection.
@SpicyBurrito16 Spyro looks kinda nervous
Awesome figure, but way too expensive. I can't justify getting that when I could get 7 full retail price Nintendo Switch games for that price.
@BacklogBlues Yeah, but one new figure costs about £2.50, which is a bit different. Also, Lego has been regularly proven to increase in value as you mentioned. Happy to be proven wrong, but I don't see this Spyro statue being much of an investment if you want something that grows in value.
I wasn't trying to prove you wrong @JohnnyC. I just noticed when i was ordering me the Lego Saturn 5 Rocket that some of their stuff was kinda expensive $400 and some of their stuff was insanely expensive $15,000+. But you are correct on Legos holding / increasing their value over time.
