So are they going to add all the splatfest exclusive maps to the rotation now?
Still playing it. Still loving it.
I'm going to keep on playing it, untill Splatoon 3 comes I guess. Aiming to become top 500 in clam blitz!
@Peterjr1 I think the splatfest maps are just private maps now. No mention of seeing them in the rotation, but would love to be proven wrong on this.
@Shade_Koopa yeah that's what I took from it too which would be a massive shame considering so many of the splatfest maps were really good for incorporating more of the unique mechanics that the story mode had.
So can we buy snails now like in splatoon 1?
Sad. But this was a truly wonderful game. I hope Nintendo doesn't make the mistake of letting this series fall dormant. I'd really hate to see Splatoon become the next Pikmin or F-Zero. Another popular franchise that Nintendo seems to have forgotten about.
The Splatfest stages are here! Booyah!!
So, where’s my Emperor outfit?
I've only just acquired my switch so i will defo keep playing this for a while. How will the super sea snails be unlocked for upgrades now, or will they no longer be available?
Having the Shifty Station stages in Private Battles does me no good since I've never played in Private Battles or have online Splatoon 2 friends for that matter.
These games still have such value even without the Splatfest. Nintendo came into the competitive online shooter scene with this franchise and showed everyone how you properly support an online game and its community. (Outside of voice chat )
I'll be dipping in and out for a long time to come.
@Heavyarms55
Pikmin and F-Zero aren't even close comparisons. The last F-Zero game was on the Gamecube, the last Pikmin game was on the Wii U lol
Well I'm fine without Splatfests continuing, it's really too bad Shifty Station won't even be a rare occurrence in Turf War.
@Old_Man_Nintendo The last F-Zero was for the GBA actually, Climax.

I stand corrected -

However the Gamecube title is the last console F-Zero game
Of course I'll keep playing. Splatfests may be over, but Splatoon 2 continues! I'd like it if they added Shifty Station stages to the normal rotation, though.
Don't Get Cooked, Stay Off The Hook!
Seems like a waste to make those Splatfest stages exclusive to Private Battles. Why not add them to the normal rotation as well?
I’m definitely jumping back in tomorrow. I voted in every Splatfest but did get to play em all. Plus ‘ability doubler’, yes please!
Oh man I was really hoping they'd add cloud saves in the final update, as a way for us to secure our data now that the main game has finished winding down. I know I shouldn't be disappointed.
So no concert functionality for Off the Hook amiibo? That's the real travesty here!
ugh another update fixing weapons again when they're already fine before.
l just liked that they change the Booyah Bomb thing.
@Heavyarms55 You live in Japan, right? You must be as inundated as anyone with the sheer popularity and force of marketing that Splatoon has created for itself. While I’d equally hate to see Nintendo let Splatoon fade into obscurity, I think it’s about as likely as Disney abandoning Mickey Mouse. It’s a sensation.
Anyway, glad to see the Main Power Up stacked Kensa Pro has been toned down a few degrees through an inherent nerf of the Special and a direct nerf to how MPU affects it. The sheer number of those things was resulting in a lot of matches turning into samey Booyah fests.
Yea! Love this!
@AlphaElite More than likely, the Shifty Station stages are Private Battle only due to the potentially glitchy nature of them. Instead of having to maintain 24 more stages in the rotation that may be in need of patches and adjustments over time, it was probably easier to dump them into Private Battle mode so that the general public's online experience isn't negatively affected by them. It would be nice to see them in the rotation, though!
@Maxz Disney already long ago abandoned Mickey Mouse. More kids recognize Mario than Mickey now. I think you spelled "Elsa" wrong.
@Peterjr1 No! The splatfests exclusives maps are for private battle.
Of course i'll continue! Hey i will not stop until i had the chance to taste the joys of playing with my partners in X rank (i'm S+3 in Rainmaker.)
@Nintendo_Alski hope you’re enjoying your new Switch!
Never bought it due to lack of control customization, Nintendo needs to add that at system level like other consoles
@Maxz Fair point. But I feel like years ago people were saying the same thing about Star Fox and F-Zero. To be fair there was that massively underwhelming Star Fox on Wii U, but when was the last F-Zero game? Nintendo has a bad habit of letting some of their bigger names fade without obvious good reason.
@Heavyarms55 As much of fan of F-Zero as I am, I think it’s important to be realistic about how big it actually is/was. GX (the last major home console entry in the series) is one of my favourite racers of all time. But here is the list best-selling GCN titles in Japan. GX is there but it takes an alarming amount of scrolling to find. Sticking with Japan, Splat2 has at the time of writing sold over 3.1 million copies in the region, making it over 30 times more popular than GX on its home turf.
Of course, we’re comparing a game that Japan has gone particularly crazy for against one that it seemed to blind eye to, but taking a more global view (and assuming the figure pulled from and old interview in Edge is correct), then we have 1.5 million for GX vs. 9 million for Splat2, which is still six times more.
Looking at Nintendo’s official sales figures for Switch games you can see that alongside the predicable behemoth franchises of Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon - all stalwarts with over 20 years of history apiece - sits the relatively fresh faced Splatoon. Even on the Smash cover, Inkling Girl is up front and centre. Aside from 1-2 Switch (which isn’t really a franchise), and Smash (which is like, every franchise), no other franchise even gets a look-in. And Nintendo has a fair few franchises on the Switch.
So yeah, Splatoon is not only excellent, but also a commercial success, and I can only feel optimistic about its future! I’m sure it’ll stay fresh for many years to come.
@Maxz Well I hope you are right. I'm just not what most people would call optimistic about most things.
I'm always happy when I expect something bad and something good happens instead. lol
@Heavyarms55 Perhaps it was a poor choice of words on my part. “Excited for Splatoon’s future” may have been better.
My point is, that with a clear eye on those sales figures (not to mention the success of franchising beyond the games) optimism shouldn’t even be necessary to imagine a future for Splatoon. Cold, hard realism should suffice.
I don’t expect to see Splatoon 3 particularly soon - Nintendo has pushed 2 pretty hard over the last two years with the Octo Expansion and constant updates. But I’m sure this is not where the franchise ends.
@Maxz Naw, Nintendo does off the wall things all the time. Sometimes they flop and sometimes they are brilliant. Look at the astonishing success of the Wii and the complete failure of the Wii U. Look at taking the 3D out of the 3DS or the Switching out of the Switch. Abandoning Virtual console in favor of a lack luster online subscription service. Splatoon itself is an example of a totally out of no where idea that worked great.
Nintendo has a long established precedent of doing things that kinda defy logic in one way other another. For all we know, some suit at Nintendo will say "We don't want to over-saturate the market with Splatoon titles so we're not gonna release another one for a good long while."
@Heavyarms55 You’re certainly right that Nintendo march to the rather eccentric beat of their own drum. We don’t exactly what the next step will be, and it’s probably not worth the stress of guessing only to be proved wrong.
With that in mind, I’ll just keep playing Splatoon 2, which is definitely a thing which concretely exists!
@Maxz to think the day would come where you were glad to see a splattershot pro nerf of some kind....
@PawlSLax These are dark times indeed.
