Giga Wrecker Alt., the latest project from Pokémon developer Game Freak, is just days away from launching on Nintendo Switch. To celebrate the occasion, a brand new launch trailer has been released.
Featuring all-new, console exclusive content (not available for the existing Steam release) Giga Wrecker Alt. includes 20 additional puzzle stages and a brand new Hard Mode. There's also a new companion character to guide you through some of the more taxing puzzles should you want an easier route through.
If you need to catch up on what the game's Mega Man-like gameplay is all about, we'd urge you to check out our full review. Here's a quick snippet of what we had to say:
When it's not giving the world more reasons to 'Catch 'Em All', Game Freak continues to deliver interesting and unexpected forays into other genres. Much like Tembo the Badass Elephant before it, Giga Wrecker Alt. is a quirky left-turn that takes the exploration staples of a 2D Metroidvania and combines it with a destructible environment puzzle system for some creative and hugely rewarding puzzles.
The game launches on Switch on 2nd May; PS4 owners can play from today and it'll also arrive on Xbox One on 3rd May.
Will you be giving this one a go? Let us know in the usual place.

The music is epic! Gonna have to dive into this, Gamefreak doesn't disappoint!
God dammit. I was excited when I heard 'Game Freak' and saw the artwork, but that gameplay just doesn't seem like my cup of tea.
Hmm. Doesn't look half bad. Might have to keep an eye out for this one.
I've been interested for sure.
Physical pre-orders for this game are still live at Limited Run Games, by the way.
LRG usually do runs for games that have already launched digitally, but they've occasionally done runs for games yet released such as Toejam & Earl Back in the Groove.
Damn Game Freak you guys been making games for a long time but all your games (outside of Pokemon) feel like indie titles. Not a good sign when you claim to be a legendary developer.
@retro_player_22
They pretty much ARE indie devs, it's a mystery how they manage to develop the main series Pokémon games.
They also developed the mobile spin-off Pokémon Quest, which is unusual for them. Normally that would be someone like Ambrella or Genius Sonority.
Game freak is pretty much just an indie devolper when it doesn't come down to Pokémon at this point.
meh...I'm more interested in their previous game TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT or maybe a update version of that Rhythm game.
@N8tiveT3ch
It would be pretty nice to see both of those games come to the Switch actually. I like James Turner's work and enjoyed both of them.
I can see Tembo being pretty straight forward to port to the Switch as it was developed in Unity, but more effort may be involved for Rhythm Hunter HarmoKnight as the assets were all optimized for the 3DS as a digital download. As in it has a lot of low resolution and heavily compressed textures.
Weird game. I'm really not sure about this one.
I saw a review today or yesterday saying the physics don`t always work as they should, so I`d urge people to wait for reviews before buying it...
@RupeeClock When a development team is claiming to be a legendary developer, I do expect to see games in the level of triple A from them, not indie level titles. Sure their older games are exceptions but there's no reason for them to be making games on the budget anymore. While I do love another Drill Dozer and Tembo the Elephant, a new epic triple A game from them would be nice even if it's the first attempt at trying.
@retro_player_22
I think a developer can be legendary without being triple-A.
Daisuke Amaya, aka Pixel is pretty legendary for developing Cave Story and Kero Blaster, among other delightful small projects.
