Another week, another Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Board event. This time the focus is on well-rounded spirits, as can be seen above and below. It means you'll be encountering rounder than usual spirits on a regular basis and earning more Spirit Points than you normally would.
The event begins later this week and runs from Friday through to Sunday. Here's the official tweet from the Japanese Smash Bros. Twitter account:
Are you still playing the spirit mode in Smash Bros. Ultimate on a regular basis? Do you participate in these weekly events? Tell us in the comments.

Interesting. Perhaps the spirits are a means to keep subscribers to NSO, even though these can be gotten in the single-player side of things?
@Capt_N You don't need a subscription for the Spirit Board events.
@Mr-DNA: I know, but thank you, on the off-chance I didn't know. I mean, I feel they are using the spirits to make it feel like you can really change-up your fighter(which as I understand it, you can), and that this newness encourages people to continue playing online. Again though, thank you on the off-chance that I didn't know what you said.
@Capt_N Probably to keep people around for the DLC.
I only go out of my way to participate in the events that give extra gold. I don't need extra of anything else. Ever since I finished playing all I needed to of other modes (including online) in order to clear all of the Challenges, I never play any Smash outside of Spirits (no, really), so I barely get any gold normally.
@Capt_N You can't use (or obtain) spirits online. People who primarily play in order to fight against other players aren't going to care about spirits, because they are given no reason to.
@Mrtoad: Quite possibly. On a related note, it would be nice, if they would just reveal the remaining dlc characters.
@XerBlade: I didn't know that. I thought you could with people on your friend list, not just anybody you encounter online. Thanks for letting me know that.
Too busy pwning piranha to do spirits
I wish there was a much easier way getting the spirits on the Ace and Legend boards without using any of those shield spacer or such, which is another reason why I get so frustrated with the game. I seem to have gotten all of the spirits in Adventure mode, except that stupid Zero Suit Samus-stamina one!
@KingBowser You mean the Boss? The best way to beat her spirit is to gimp her off the edge, otherwise hope for the best. Either use the Poison Immune spirit and a special move boosting spirit, or just use the healing Poison spirit. Just, be very defensive.
So these can be obtained outside of the event? Because I like to play other things on weekends, Smash Bros. is not my main game right now.
I'm wonder: People who have no internet connection, bought the game in cartridge format and haven't ever updated the game, also have access to this event, like everyone else?
@Moroboshi876 Yes, they can be obtained outside the event. As far as I know, the only difference is that during the event, they appear more frequently and give bigger rewards.
@Kochambra So event only spirits have been Mario Party and NES/Famicom ones, right? I don't want to stay up late on a Sunday because I lack some spirit that's not going to be obtainable anymore. If it's optional I always can get them another time, but if it's time-limited and exclusive...
@Moroboshi876
Just the Mario Party ones.
@Luffymcduck Oh, boy, I assumed the NES/Famicom one was one of them too and I remember going to bed really late despite being Sunday because I didn't get all of them and wanted at least as many as possible. Thanks.
@KingBowser If you mean the Boss, I used (SPOILERS!) Madama Butterfly (her effect is “Poison Heals” to win that one.) You can get her spirit in late-game World of Light.
@KingBowser Unlock the Fast Final Smash meter and Double Final Smash adventure skills. Then use Jigglypuff with a poison immunity spirit equipped. Wait for the Final Smash Meter to charge up. Then knock the enemy off the stage, walk to the edge, and use your final smash to block recovery. Repeat if necessary. All’s fair in love, war, and Pokémon battles.
I love the Spirit Board. I guess I'm much slower then everyone else because I have a long way to go until I collect every spirit. I just loving battling on the spirit board as opposed to the normal Smash because every battle feels unique.
