Nintendo's first major release of 2019, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, arrives on Nintendo Switch today. To celebrate that fact, Nintendo UK has shared a new launch trailer, complete with just as many precise platforming segments and musical 'wah-wahs' as you'd expect.
The trailer gives us a glimpse at some of the things you can expect to see and do in the game, likely feeling pretty familiar to those who have already experienced New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U on Wii U. While this new release is essentially just a bundle of those two games, the odd few new elements - such as the infamous Peachette power-up and Nabbit being a playable character in the base game - can also be seen in action.
If you're thinking of picking this one up today, make sure to check out our full review of the game. Here's just a little snippet of what we had to say:
"New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is an impressive package if you skipped the original, offering the best of modern-era 2D Mario, madcap multiplayer and glimpses of the outrageous invention that was to come in Super Mario Odyssey. Only the most fervent fans will find enough new content here to justify double-dipping, though, especially if you already played the Luigi expansion."
Are you buying this one for yourself today? Are you already playing it as we speak? Make sure to let us know down below in the comments.

Just collected my preorder at the store, along with a copy of Tales of Vesperia. Will be a great evening!
You know what would be a bigger Celebration ?
Nintendo giving Wii U owners a fat discount.
News have been so slow since last year's Nintendo direct that it feels like almost no time has passed since this game was announced.
One thing I wish they did with these NSMB games is take more risks. Look at DKC:TF, there is a reason that despite it selling much less people keep claiming it to be the best 2D platformer ever - it is a lot more memorable.
But hey, just my opinion.
@Madder128 Nintendo? Discounts? Pshhh...
This game is so darling. It's one of my fav 2d Mario games.
Yeah, I cancelled and am now waiting for a great discount or a BOGO sale on this later on. I skipped out on Hyrule Warriors back in May and picked that up instead.
It really should have just been $40.
@Varkster
100%! Even though the games are enjoyable enough, they feel somewhat generic, especially compared to DK: TF. If they’re not going to push themselves, they may as well revert to the pixel art style of the 8/16-bit games which, ironically, look so much better. It’s not a bad series, but the games haven’t been as great as they could be.
I was thinking like this... 🤔
Princess Peach once again kidnapped by Bowser, Damsel in Distress plot (again).
So Classic.
And then, Mario, Luigi, Toadette and Nabbit have to rescue Princess Peach.
Something unusual, Toadette can transform into a Princess Peach clone with a Crown.
I'm sure the Real Princess Peach will not happy to see a clone of herself try to rescue her.
She might thinking "Is that myself ?!" 😆
I wonder how much this game is gonna cost when it gets ported to Switch 2?
Yeah right, the “Deluxe” version... even though it removes several challenges and adds almost nothing.
I still can't get over how much this game resembles Super Mario Run, which is a FREE mobile game. The same exact graphics, presentation, music and sound effects. Not only that, but this game is a Wii U port from over 6 years ago and it's $60??? LAZY and GREEDY, Nintendo.
I still haven't received my double coins for the pre-purchase.☹
Anyone know what time that should drop?
@Madder128 agreed! Or make this game $30 for everyone. I feel like as a dedicated Nintendo fan and owner that I am being punished for believing in the Wii U
@NinjaToitles at $30 Nintendo would still make a huge profit. They can get away with it because there’s no competition. Switch only owners aren’t deciding between this and red dead and Spider-Man etc.
Sony and Microsoft would gouge their fans too if they could, but there’s just too much competition.
Not grabbing this, as I already own the Wii U version, but it was a great game. New owners are going to have a lot of fun with this!
@LilDoggo48 When I nabbed Smash digitally, it took half a week or so for Nintendo to credit me the extra coins. Don't worry: it'll come
Fired up NSMBU for my Wii U last night. I forgot how much I really disliked the floatier gameplay of the 'New' series vs. SMB3 and World.
My copy is coming in the mail later today!
@michellelynn0976 Really? Except for the Koopalings' individual attacks, I didn't get a whole lot of kick out of it. Curious to know what your favorite part/s is/are?
What is there to celebrate?
@Quarth enjoy!
@Captain_EO Thanks! After playing both games for a couple of hours, I can safely say they are both fun!
@KingBowser86 I love the levels. I love the challenge mode which is very hetic and exciting and I like the boss battles.
@michellelynn0976 Ooh, I'd have loved the Luigi mode if it weren't for my OCD and the 3 Star Coins.
@KingBowser86 the Luigi mode is so epic. The challenge is high and the levels are perfectly designed for it.
