During Bandai Namco’s “Dragon Ball Games Super Showcase” live stream earlier this week, we found out a second season of characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ would be officially announced at the World Tour Finals, taking place on 26th and 27th January. Following this, Bandai Namco’s official Twitter account teased a fighter from Universe 11 was joining the battle.
In the latest update, Jiren has now been confirmed via a leaked V-Jump magazine scan. Jiren is expected to be the first DLC fighter in the season two pass. As can be seen in the picture below, he’s shown locked in battle with Goku, in a scene that looks straight out of the most recent series, Dragon Ball Super.
In other Dragon Ball news, the European and North American box art for Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission has surfaced online. This game will arrive locally on 5th April.

Nice, but I'd still like to see Master Roshi, Radditz, Kale, Caulifla, Cabba, Brianne, Toppo, and Dyspo show up too.
Dragon Ball Fighterz needs Kid Goku like yesterday!

Where do you put Vegeta after you kill him?

.
In the Frieza.
So how many Gokus are they gonna add to make up for this one not being Goku
@justin233 That was terrible and you should feel bad!
....
Ah, heck, you got a laugh out of me. Bravo.
Let me start by saying, I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to DBZ and it's characters but I'm really enjoying the game... However, i feel like the game lacks female fighters! or are there hardly any in the series...?
That's V Jump, not Famitsu.
Also it says details will be revealed at the world tournament on the 26th-27th (by America time), so if you're interested, there may be more announced next weekend.
Jiren once punched a horse in the chin. Its descendants are now known as giraffes.
@bluesun Thanks for the heads up, we will have that fixed soon.
I watched Dragon Ball Super awhile back in a fit of nostalgia driven binging... and Jiren was boring. He was just.. strong guy who is the strongest guy. That was it. His backstory was a sentence long. No emotional investment in the fight at all, got bored fast.
I’m meh on his inclusion. Wake me up on when Janemba gets announced.
@TheMadPolarBear
So Jiren is quite weak, since literally everyone can blow up planets and extinct all life forms with a fireball.
@Outspoken There aren't many in Dragon ball but there are some. They could add Videl, Zangya Kale, Caulifla and Ribrianne for instance.
@DayOfLavos Well we still need Ultra Instinct Goku to pair up with Jiren so...
Hopefully in a more affordable price if he's being sold as DLC. I know making games and such cost money, but $5 per character for what they offered in FighterZ was...a little too steep in price, in my opinion.
@TheMadPolarBear That made my day XD
Bring it on!
@Branovices Jiren is done much better in the manga. While he's isn't as OP and hyped up as he was in the anime, they did spend more time developing his character.
@WaveBoy 1. Jirens design is based on the original Grey Aliens that were thought to be the original aliens coming to Earth. So while the design doesn't have much to it, it does have an interesting background given what its inspired by. And 2. while the anime for Super is a bit of a mess, the manga is far better. The anime team was given a basic layout of how the Dragonball Super arcs were going to go, and they loosely adapted them. While the anime went on ahead with the arcs, the manga was far behind the anime, but took time to fix some of the issues in the anime arcs.
@WaveBoy This. I only enjoyed Hit ( Goku actually used techniques in order to fight a unique and interesting oponent) and a few chapters of the tournament (mostly thanks to android 17) and while the last battle with Jiren was somewhat decent, the character itself is quite boring, along with most tournament fighters. People can say whatever they want of GT, but I think it's miles better than Super, and the Super Saiyan 4 was a much better transformation than the recent ones. I did enjoy the last movie though, making Gogeta canon and remaking Broly was awesome for me.
Oh, and Goku Black was the worst ark... not on Dragon Ball, but on everything I have seen. I really, really dislike that character and the lack of logic behind that story, even by Dragon Ball standards.
@patbacknitro18 Jiren stays boring either way in my opinion. I do agree that the manga did a lot of things better though, like Frost being actually a good guy, since I love that race and it makes no sense that everyone of them is bad. Oh yeah, but they followed a similar with him route to the anime in the tournament saga... I was forgetting abou that. What a waste.
@Decapre We already have a million Goku's, not to mention this 1 will most likely have Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku and Gogeta.
Leave it for Season 3, if it happens.
@WaveBoy It's fine to have that preference, I usually prefer the anime to the manga in most scenarios. Though I was just saying that they did it better in the other medium. I just love the fact that despite how strong Jiren is, he just can't be happy in life until he gets the approval of his master. I love Toriyama's sense of comedy.
@WaveBoy Also ya they rushed the Tournament of Power a bit, my guess is that they just wanted to get through it as fast as possible so they could get a head start on the newest arc, which is looking very interesting so far.
@roy130390 I liked Frosts plan in the manga. Instead of hiding in the shadows he just goes head first into battle and takes out all of the weaker fighters. While some may be upset that Tien and Krillin didn't get to do anything, that does seem much more likely for what Frost would do.
@WaveBoy Oh also if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you check out the new movie. It fix's alot of the problems that Super had, including the fact that its hands down the best Dragonball movie yet. Completely blows Battle of Gods and Ressurection of F out of the water.
@WaveBoy I can agree with the art, but they wanted to do something new and it really paid off. The fight scenes are so amazingly choreographed, and they even try some new stuff like having a first-person perspective for a short bit. I'll say this, the Broly movie is unlike any Dragonball movie yet. Its far more story heavy, and the story is actually really engaging. While Brolys design is a bit hit or miss, his character is a vast improvement over the original. So much so that Broly's character is written in a way that actually makes you care about whether he lives or dies. I don't want to spoil anything, but this movie is not only the best thing about Super period, but it's one of the best things to come out of Dragonball in a long while.
@MasterGraveheart Same. Especially more female characters. I am glad Smash Bros. decided to add a more diverse gender to the roster.
@WaveBoy You mentioned the Falconer music. I see you are a person of good taste.
@MasterGraveheart your list is literally perfect reflection of what I want. If this happens (and we finally get our official tournaments back) i'll double dip for Switch!
Toppo should have been the final boss of Universe Survival arc, much more interesting as a character. I hope he's included eventually.
I'm going to buy Jiren anyways. After all, Jiren can't lose.
@Luffymcduck I would have liked Toppo because it would have been unexpected. Every knew Jiren would be the final one based on how the episodes were set up.
Toppo would have been a better choice. If you take away Jiren's power what you have as a character is literally generic buff guy #28380281.
