When the action strategy title Fear Effect: Sedna was released earlier this year on the eShop, it didn't quite hit the mark. Fortunately, not long after this, Square Enix Collective revealed the original PlayStation game that first arrived in 2000 was being remastered for multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch.
Sushee - the French studio behind Fear Effect Reinvented - said it wanted to capture the spirit and atmosphere of the classic action-adventure game, but at the same time modernise it with drastically improved high-definition visuals, controls and exciting extras. It also promised to keep the original fixed camera angles intact.
Although we still don't have a release date, the team behind the Fear Effect remaster have released a new batch of screenshots to promote the game's demo that's playable at Paris Games Week this weekend. There's also the existing teaser trailer above.
Are you looking forward to Fear Effect Reinvented arriving on the Switch? Did you play the original game? Tell us below.

I'm still interested. Only heard of it recently though so never got to play the original.
Had this game even been considered for Switch? I had recently played Sedna and didn't like it so I hope this reimagine one is better.
this is more like it no sedna rubbish the original remastered is the way to go!.
The originals were cool back in the day though I cant remember them too well now. I'm interested!
Looks pretty good
What'll be more interesting in a way is if Fear Effect 2 will make its way to the console; for the time it was both one of the most sexual and one of the most eagerly violent games of the time (no, seriously, look up the YouTube vids of all the ways to die in FE2 - special mention to the elevator shaft one!). A few years ago, never, but with modern Nintendo and what has made it to Switch? Quite possibly. Granted, I'm not really interested in either game, but I do think that it makes for an interesting measurement of where Nintendo now stands on such content.
Is she wearing just a... towel? Does the game start just as she is getting out of the shower or something? How inconvenient!
@ReaderRagfish You aren't the only one.The cartoony graphics of the original was what made it different all those years ago but the new style is just like..all other games to be honest.
One of my first game on PS1- Good times. Depending on price, I'll Just get it to support it.
When will this darn Collective start work on Anachronox 2? Come on!
I will be picking this up 100% I loved the original on my PlayStation back in the day hope it does well and they do the second one too
im sorry but this looks nothing like Fear Effect...the original artstyle is gone
Day 1 for me. I think the make over looks great. I wonder if they will let you toggle between retro and contemporary versions? (I love that feature in games)
Looks great, definitely interested in this.
Always wanted to play the original but never got the chance so hoping fora good conversion.
@Ooyah PS1 era game. Lara Croft did an entire level in a towel fresh out of the shower too if I recall correctly.
I’ve recently just played FE1 on the PS1, having never played it back in the day. It’s definitely a game of its time: pre-rendered video backgrounds, sexualised female protaganist and completely over the top gore. It’s very entertaining! I’ll be playing the second one at some point. I understand that’s even more over the top, can’t wait!
I don’t like the look of this too much to be honest, the art style from the original has gone and I’m not sure the gore/sex will translate that well these days. I’m happy sticking with the originals.
Not too fond of their direction with the character shading for the remake. They don't stand out the same way at all as they did in the original.
@Ooyah Minor bathroom inconvenience strikes again!
PS1 was and is never my thing. No PS1 games make it to my all time favorites. Although I’m very critical of Nintendo policies, most of my all time favorites are Nintendo game (and Genesis games). Somthing was off about PS1 and the whole generation, although two of my all time favorites are fron N64: Ogre battle 64 and Ocarina of Time.
I love it! Fear Effect 1 and 2 were the best Lesbian centered games I ever played..... and the only Lesbian centered games I ever played.
The visuals are good, but the gameplay ? The jury is out.
If they improve on the loading times over the originals, it will probably be a great game, as it already was. Loading was absurdly long, like one minute or so every time you died or changed levels or whatever. I stopped playing the original because of that, sadly.
I have a friend who loved the original game to death and always tried to get me to try it, but despite it having my favorite kind of protagonist (a strong and sexy female), I never gave the game the time of day. Guess there were just more interesting games around at the time. I'll wait for a review but I guess I'll give it a chance.
