Last month, we found out Moonlighter was opening for business in November and Digital Sun Games and 11 Bit Studios have finally given us a release date. The game will arrive on the Switch eShop on the 5th of next month. That's not all, though; in addition to the release date, a physical signature edition has been revealed which can be pre-ordered now. Here's what is included:
- A region free copy of the 'Moonlighter' game
- A CD digipak soundtrack
- A squishy jelly-monster figure
- An exclusive Moonlighter medallion with string
- A3 game poster featuring developer's digitally printed signatures
- A sturdy "Sierra"-style Signature Edition box
- An outer sleeve with bespoke artwork and featuring the developer's digitally printed signatures
The first 500 orders will qualify for a limited-edition collector's coin. If you don't want to spend £44.99 on the signature edition, you can pick up a standard physical release on the Switch for £29.99.
If you're not familiar with Moonlighter, it's an action-RPG featuring rogue-lite elements where you take on the role of a shopkeeper who also happens to be an adventurer. Your two passions go hand in hand as you fight monsters and then gather items and supplies to sell at your shop. Over time you can upgrade your shop and recruit assistants to help grow the business.
Take a look at the release announcement trailer above and tell us in the comments if you'll be downloading or buying a physical copy of Moonlighter on launch.
First I've heard of this, looks cool. Never a shortage of games to pick up while I wait on Smash.
been patiently waiting for this. bout time!
n physical all the way
Thanks for yesterdays news.
Going by how much I enjoy Stardew Valley I think I will like this.
Can we get some editors on board who are able to post news on time?
This game looks nice. Although I'm still bothered by the 50% extra cost for the physical version.
Had email about this on Monday from Signature Edition.
Not News more Olds
Why are pixel graphics so popular? I always find them very off-putting.
@OorWullie I dont think those 2 games are very similar. stardew is a farming sim while moonlighter is an action/rpg with rougelike & shop sim elements
I was so ready for this when it got announced for Switch, but now it has to wait until I'm done with Red Dead Redemption 2.
It looks quite nice, but I still have reservations about the combat. I don't really know what to expect, since any visuals I've seen have barely scratched the surface.
@paihia I know but as well as farming you need to mine and with that comes slaying monsters. Doing so allows you to unlock better weapons and gear and such. It's not a 50/50 split, probably more like 70% farming and 30% mining and technically you don't even need to mine at all, just your farm won't progress very far if you don't.
Moonlighter from what I've gathered is more of a 50/50 split with both sides required but the mix of 2 contrasting game styles makes it kind of similar, at least to me
@OorWullie I admit I never played stardew sounds like too much farming n not enough monster slaying for my taste. but moonlighter reminds me abit of old school zelda so Im hyped!
@Yasume @TheGhostWhoWalks I go to other sights if I want prompt headlines. I come to NL for the large community
@Eef nostalgia rules
Awwww man why did I get this on PS4 I should have held out for physical switch edition!
Before Buying this I would reccommend you guys check out some gameplay. This game is surprisingly pretty damn shallow for my taste.
Shopkeeping is one price for one product, no price rises or lowers. Combat is too simple. Upgrades are mostly useless.
See for yourself before you buy.
Looks really good! I like the idea, will keep an eye on it.
PreOrder....now have to cancel my standard local preorders.
So how do we find out about this on preorders?
The first 500 orders will qualify for a limited-edition collector's coin.
