Dark Blue Games has released a brand new trailer for its upcoming game Infected Shelter as part of last week's EGX 2018 celebrations.
If you're out of the loop with this one, Infected Shelter has been billed as a cross between Dead Cells and 2D beat 'em up title Castle Crashers, mixing rogue-lite gameplay with co-op multiplayer insanity. You play as a member of a surviving group in a post-apocalyptic world, but on one fateful morning, you awake to find the shelter is raided and your people are kidnapped for reasons unknown. Leaving your shelter, you emerge into the harsh infected land and start looking for the kidnappers and the truth behind the events.
Gameplay is made up of randomly-generated, rogue-lite, post-apocalyptic action RPG shooter elements mixed with dungeon brawler mechanics. By beating enemies, players can loot more than 150 different blueprints of permanent improvements, and you can also unlock new weapons, clothes, skills, relics, and RPG-like character improvements that change how you play the game in future runs.
Key Features
- Rogue-lite / rouge-like elements, play-learn-die-unlock-improve-repeat
- Permanent upgrades that change how you play the game in the following runs
- 150+ blueprints to unlock new weapons, clothes, skills, relics and RPG-like character improvements
- 50+ brutal, ultra-violent executions
- Randomly generated post-apocalyptic environments
- Fast paced, violent and complex 2D brawler-like combat with lots of firearms and melee weapons
- Fully supported singleplayer experience
- Co-op with up to 4 players
The game's currently scheduled for a release on Switch in 2019, with PC early access aiming to launch in Q4 2018. We'll keep an eye on this one over the coming months for any more news or a confirmed release window.

Castle Crushers in headline Crashers in text. Might check this out if progression is like Dead cells. Really like that model.
"Rogue-lite / rouge-like elements, play-learn-die-unlock-improve-repeat"
It can't be both rogue liTe and liKe... When will people understand? Especially devs.
On the other hand, I like the acronym PLDUIR. Very catchy
Insulting to Dead Cells that trailer video. Crappy Flash looking animations.
@pbb76 I agree, very flash gamey (reminds me of newgrounds games, if that site still exists)
I love rouge games. Zombies with blusher. If the key feature list comes from the devs, it doesn't bode well....
Wow this game is ugly! It looks like it borders between messy fun & cluster fudgesicle.. I'd definitely wait for a few reviews before even touching this game.
@pbb76
Flash still gets some retroactive flak for mostly having been used by young self-taught animators.
You could do perfectly nice animation in Flash, but this kind of spliney, evenly spaced animation, that lacks weight and impact has really been a trademark of computer-assisted animation performed by untrained animators since the mid-90s, both 2D and 3D.
3D quickly started using motion-capture, which eliminated the issue to some degree, but 2D mostly requires hand-animation, and people are just used to seeing how well Disney and others pull this off, so it takes a lot to impress, and certainly the stuff done by young self-taught animators will start looking very unprofessional by now.
Otherwise known as: How many trendy genres for indie games can we slam into one game?!
What nightmarish puppet theatre is this?
Actually looks alot like Rampage Knights, also not a beauty but the gameplay is fun. They should bring out a demo or this will be dead on arrivel on looks alike.
Talking about that, it would be awesome to have Castle Crashers on Switch! One of the few indie gems that haven't arrived yet to the console.
Very bad
Cluncky
And worst of all this lane based combat up/down
@pbb76 Looks a lot better than crappy pixellated animations, IMO. I'm so sick of pixel art, but I guess I'm in the minority.
No im good.
How about a game like Castle Crashes that is actually Castle Crashers.
That would be 100× better than this thing.
Also using a legendary indie game like CC as click bait is low... Even for NL.
Funny, i don't remember dead cells looking like a flash game.
Hard pass on this one.
Death road to canada : hi def version?
The concept is great, but they reeeeeally need to think twice about that art style they're using.
Clunky and extremely unattractive.
