Following a brief look at the Vehicle Kit in July, a new in-depth video for the latest Labo pack has now been released showing every vehicle in action, the game world and also the various multiplayer modes on offer.
Below are descriptions of each segment from the video:
- A closer look at Adventure, one of the included games, in which you get to explore a mysterious world featuring pyramids, an archeological dig site, snowy mountains and much more. Use the Toy-Con Key creation to seamlessly swap between a car, plane and submarine to explore the deepest depths and highest heights of the world. Interact with a variety of intriguing characters as you explore and complete different missions solo or co-op with a friend.
- Each vehicle is controlled using the various Toy-Con projects you build with the included materials in the Vehicle Kit. And each has different controls and special moves in the game – launch a grappling hook with your submarine, do a barrel roll and shoot missiles with your plane, perform wheelies and deploy saw blades or bombs with your car, and more!
- Different included games offer a variety of fun experiences: In Rally, you pass through checkpoints while racing to the goal. Circuit is a racing game with a twist – you can launch punches at opponents! Slot Cars is a classic game that is controlled using only the Toy-Con Pedal. And in Battle, you can participate in one-on-one automotive combat with other players*.
- Paint Studio uses the Toy-Con Spray Can to let you personalize your in-game vehicles – and the driver! Gently shake it to feel and hear the “ball” inside as you mix up the paint.
- Custom Controls, a new feature for Nintendo Labo, lets you make your own controllers for the included games with common household items. Want to ride a broom to steer the plane? How about drawing button controls on a customized screen protector when playing in Handheld Mode? Go ahead! It’s a great way to get started with building your own Toy-Con creations.
Has this video sold you on the vehicle kit? Were you already going to buy when it comes out next month? Tell us in the comments.

Wow, that was AWESOME !!
I will buy it on January 2019.
That is freaking awesome! I want it. I especially love the gears inside the submarine part, looks so cool!
A neat idea. But it retains the same problems that all of labo does.
1. Cardboard is not made to last
2. These creations are bulky and take up a lot of space.
3. These games focus too much on their control gimmick, rather than trying to be quality entertainment in their own right.
These kinds of things look like they'd be very neat at first, but once the novelty of it wears off, would just be junk in a closet.
Yes, I can't wait. This game looks so cool, much more fleshed out that than the first two.
I got the 1st one and there was no 'game' (just minigames). This one looks like there more 'game' in it.
Im going to get it.
It looks like it is made with the BotW engine which is nice. But the problem remains ... it is still cardboard.
Cool but it is still $70 for a cardboard version of an accessory that I can buy made out of far higher quality materials with far more features for less.
@JayJ yes but the making is half the fun. Not for everyone granted but for me and my daughter this is looking ace! Certainly looks to be more game than the previous two. I'm in.
yes I am not getting it, it's cool, but it's cardboard, not gonna pay this price when I know it costs for the material part is just 5 dollars.
Wow. This is definitely an improvement. I still have the same issue regarding storage but damn I'm so much more tempted.... September belongs to Spider-Man though, so this will wait
So you complain about the cost of the cardboard? Yet you get plenty of fun games with loads of possabilities, nice models to build and enjoy the process, excellent interactive lessons on how to build them and loads of nice information how it works behind the cardboard.
And the wheel and pedal also works in Mario Kart 8.
If you enjoy building things you´ll get like 10-15 hrs of fun just getting it all togheter and then all the games etc.
In my book it is great value if you are the target group for those Kits!
@beazlen1 The previous two at least had some purpose as unique accessories. This is just a cardboard racing wheel... for $70.
I was already definitely going to get it but this trailer prompted me to pre-order from my local store so I know for sure I'll have it on release day. I'm extremely excited to play around with the custom controls feature. Wouldn't be surprised if there's another Labo Creators contest in the future with "best custom control" as a category that time.
@JayJ no it's not even that. It's flat packed cardboard with instructions and some software. And I can't wait to build and play with my daughter (and when she's gone to bed). It seems this one isn't for you and you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere.
@hakjie11 needless to say you pay for a lot more than just the material costs, ala CDs, DVDs, downloads, cuppuccinos and most other things in life if you think about it.
I really love the creativity involved. I'm constantly surprised and amazed at what the folks at Nintendo come up with. I'm on the fence about buying it, but it sure looks like it would scratch my Pilotwings itch.
@Heavyarms55
1. I have 2- and 4-year olds that play weekly on the variety kit. I have yet had but the slightest damage on the motorcycle horn. Other than that, it has been absolutely superb on durability.
2. They do take a lot of space. Like toys usually do. I agree on this.
3. Variety kit at least is entertaining. Games are easy enough for my children and the building and customisation and creation tools are easy and robust for me. This new kit looks to be especially focusing on the games and challenges within the game.
I will definitely get this for my kids again. Although I really might need to buy them their own Switches now.
Surprised at how many people here still think it's 'just cardboard'. They probably haven't played/seen the software side of things. All the other complaints sound like they don't have kids. Lol
Anyway, I think this looks fantastic. Looks way better than 01 and 02!
I really like the multi-player and custom Controls. I've seen some creative things with the other two kits, I wonder how crazy things will get with this one. That broom stick flight was funny.
@invictus4000 I don't even think it's that. I don't have kids, and I still see the absolute worth in these Labo sets. And I too I'm quite impressed with this specific set. It looks like a lot of fun, and it seems to be a relatively big game, with lots of things to do and lots of places to explore.
But negatively-inclined people will always find something to complain about, and the delusional and close-minded individuals complaining about it being "just cardboard", simply do so (either consciously or sub-consciously) to be able to single out the one thing that they can attach the (in their minds) righteous indignation about the "ridiculous" price tag to (which would be true if it actually would be only cardboard), so they can justify complaining about it.
Any sane person with the ability to see further than the tip of his nose, has already established quite a while ago that there is far more to Labo than just cardboard constructs, but unfortunately, a mind made up is a mind not easily changed, so people will probably keep defending and speaking out their predetermined opinion, regardless of actual facts and regardless of how dumb it makes them look.
This is actually much cooler then I expected it to be. Even the custom control option opens up even more possibility if you want to play in a much different/crazy way (that exercise ball boxing/glove combo is inspiring). I can imagine you can even customize it to use with toy-con 01 and 02 kit.
This is the first Labo kit I feel an urge to buy and not wait for a better sale or price drop like I was with the first 2, months or years later.
I'm glad you can actually play the game on the go, without necessarily being forced to use the cardboard (which doesn't exactly promote portable play).
@ThanosReXXX Well said! Me playing with my kids was certainly a part of why I love LABO so much, but I still would have picked up the Variety Kit if I were alone anyway. The tech and creativity is just so cool. So to see it being taken to the next level with 03 is all the more exciting!
Seriously though, just the LABO Garage alone is worth at least 30 bucks and that's just a small corner of the software that comes with it.
@invictus4000 Thanks, and indeed.
Negativists always use a skewed view to validate their... shall we say, "concerns", to put it mildly...
But if you realistically break it down, it's basically around $20 for the cardboard sheets, which is a normal average retail price for pre-cut, color printed cardboard sheets, and the remaining $40 - $50 is for the game case with the cartridge and the software on it, so that too, is just the standard price.
But no, let's forget about the cartridge, and that rather smart piece of software that's on there, let's also forget about what other Switch games normally cost, and let's just slam Labo for being $70 for just a couple of sheets of cardboard.
Pffff.... people, sometimes...
@Zuljaras Sounds more like a personal problem. Cardboard is fun.
@FriendlyHuman Sure. But the expensive one is not.
You are right it is personal taste. Either way enjoy the product
@beazlen1 It's okay, I get it, if I had a kid to buy something like this for I would be in the same boat as you are. My comments are just my perspective, but then again I am clearly not the target audience.
I think it looks awesome. I am going to get it.
