Update: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Owltimate Edition has now been officially confirmed for Nintendo Switch. This 'Owltimate' Edtion contains the original Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams as well as all existing DLC, including Rise Of The Owlverlord, and will be playable at this year's gamescom event. No release date has been confirmed just yet.
Original Article: The challenging side-scrolling platform game Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams was originally released on the Wii U eShop in 2013 and followed this up with the physical Director's Cut in 2015.
Now, according to an ESRB rating, the game is Switch-bound. This same version is heading to the Switch, and in the US will be titled Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - DirectOwl's Cut.
Here's the rating summary:
This is a side-scrolling platformer game in which players help a girl rescue her sister from a Dream World. As players run and jump through levels, they collect crystals and hop on or dash at enemy creatures (e.g., demons, owls) to defeat them. Enemies fall over or disappear amid puffs of feathers when defeated.
Published and developed by Black Forest Games, Twisted Dreams was originally funded through Kickstarter and is a sequel to the 2009 title Giana Sisters on the DS. At the time, we gave Twisted Dreams eight stars out of ten and said it was "an admirable effort that provides an innovative, entertaining and highly challenging experience".

Oh heck yea! I have it on Steam but I could never get it to run proper on my laptop. And I would rather play on a console. Especially a portable.
I want it
Cool. I was eyeing a Wii U copy during Toys R Us's final days, but I never pulled the trigger. (Not having a Wii U didn't help.) With this and Freedom Planet, I'm going to have a blast.
@Trvial wouldn't it have been more of a rare collectable then?
@edgedino Yeah. But I'm not exactly a collector. Also, I ended up buying a Switch game that was heavily, HEAVILY discounted, so I don't regret my decision.
I've played the one on the Wii U but I can remember if I beat it.
Cool, Giana Sisters is a good one.
I'll wait for Super Maria Sis to be ported.
Pretty sure there was an old hack on Commodore 64 that took a Giana Sisters game and reskined it as Mario.
I used to play it on my C64 when I was very, very young. I remember it being fun.
@Hikingguy well wii u got discontinued more recently and as it stands it takes years for something to be up in price.
As long as any amount of success of this release doesn't mean they afterwards serve us that horrible Bubsy revival as a follow-up, I say bring it on!
Fantastic game, already have it digitally on wiiu as there was no physical here. If this is a physical i willd efinitely pick it up.
@Zeraki correct Giana sisters on the C64 was a copy of SMB. It's no hack just a copy cat game.
@YANDMAN
It was only out for a little while on the C64 before Nintendo took it down. It is worth a fortune now!
Brilliant platformer! Europe didn't get a physical Wii U release, but if this gets one I just might double dip! I really enjoyed it!
"Originally released on Wii U"...
Twisted Dreams was originally released on the PC through Steam and GOG. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giana_Sisters:_Twisted_Dreams
I played it a bit on Steam a few years ago and I felt too old to appreciate it then. There's too many 2D platformers now to spend more time than necessary with ones that don't click and one has no nostalgia for.
Loved Giana Sister DS. Better than Super Mario Bros.
It's only time before all Wii u games are ported to the Switch. Some get remastered like Smash others get nothing.
Both Giana Sisters DS and Twisted Sisters are both brilliant platforms much overlooked and underappreciated. If this helps highlight both again that's only a good thing. Just don't mention Dream Runners...
Awesome game, loved this back on Wii U - the hardcore mode is stupidly hard but I didn't bother with that. The graphics and music are great and it's challenging and fun, there's collectables too - highly recommended.
I’ll chime in on the DS game being a hidden gem.
I downloaded this on Wii U & have been hoping it would be coming to Switch. It's a fun game but I still haven't even come close to beating it, though. I really like the music & art style/graphics.
I have the Wii u version, but stopped somewhere because of the difficulty. I might continue it someday though.
