As some reading these pages will already know, a number of the Nintendo Life team are based in the UK, and through our friendship with The Centre for Computing History in Cambridge we occasionally host gaming events with that awesome organisation. We thought we'd give you a quick reminder that the next one of these is coming up fast!
On Saturday 28th July we'll be hosting the Nintendo Life Gaming Night at the centre, from 6pm to 11pm. Here are some details taken from our event page:
The Centre for Computing History is once more teaming up with Nintendo Life for an evening of Nintendo-related fun.
We will have out as many of our Nintendo systems as we can muster, including four of the five pre-Famicom systems: the TV Color 6, TV Color 15, Racing 112, and Block Breaker Console.
Other machines playable will be the Famicom, Sharp Famicom Twin, NES, Super Famicom, Super Nintendo (both US and UK Models), SNES Mini and Super Famicom Jr, not one but three Virtual Boys, both Japanese and UK models of the N64, numerous GameCubes, a Wii or two, and the Wii U (phew!).
There will also be a resurrection of the Centre's 'knock-off Nintendo' display, featuring a collection of completely unofficial machines from around the world. Lastly, there will be a complete display of all the Nintendo handhelds from the seminal Game Boy to the New 3DS.
The Nintendo Life team will be there throughout the evening to share their infinite knowledge of all things Nintendo with visitors. Nintendo Life's YouTube star Alex Olney will be hosting the tournament this year and there will be some great prizes. Start swinging your Joy-Cons as this year competitors will be facing off on ARMS on the Nintendo Switch.
A great event for all the family, young and old!
In addition to all of this, we're happy to announce that the lovely folks from Deadpan Robot will also be joining us to show everyone how Game Boys can be customised, as well as to sell various custom designs.
If you fancy coming along you can pick up reasonably priced tickets right here, including discounted rates on family ticket and concessions. Here's a quick round-up video from our last event a couple of years ago:
We hope to see you there!

If you do this every year, I'll try and come some day!
See you guys there
Be there, or be square! ^_^
Strange thing.
By looking at the picture of this article, something has drawn my attention.
I think it's possible that ARMS was design first FOR WII U and not Switch... o_O
Just look at the side of the yellow punch by flipping your head 90 degrees to the left...
Does the black part remind you something familiar ? o_O
If I could plan better I’d arrange a stay over in Cambridge or the surrounding area and come to one of these events with my wife and daughter as part of a bigger break. Unfortunately it’s just a bit too far for a day trip. Maybe next year, reminder added to phone!
I bet there's a paywall to this event. I can sense it.
@PanurgeJr
I dunno why you provoke me almost every day but I'm gonna be the clearest as possible with you :
I'm not gonna fall into your trap !
Easy to understand, isn't it ?
I know what you want but guess what, you need to be wayyyyy more subtle with me.
Damn! we're at UKVSin London
Got my ticket. Only live round the corner (quite literally). Half of me is going coz I think it'll be awesome, the other half of me is going just to hopefully meet Alex and hear him say "helloooo there lovelyyyyyyy peeeeeeooopppleeeeeee" in person 😂😂😂
I wish I could come and win the ARMS tourney, but I live in the US. Maybe one day.
@Cobalt As funny as that is, there’s footage of the ARMS prototype being played with the Joy-Con prototypes. It was developed for the Switch.
But I had never noticed that before! That’s funny, the Wii U and ARMS are two great things Nintendo has made that have gone highly under appreciated. Maybe that was intentional, maybe not.
@MH4
Yeah but we can easily imagine that the chara-design was made during the Wii U era to be a Wii U game and then, with the "failure" of the wiiU, they kept the design to make a "new" game for the Switch...
Not impossible.
Man, If I were wealthy I'd fly to the UK just for this! (and to eat real fish and chips as my English friends tell me it's just not the same here...)
Sorry guys, I'm at the Cambridge B Movie film festival this weekend.
@Richard_Atkinson
I know that doors open at 6pm, but I don't suppose you know if it's okay to arrive at any time after that? Got family plans that day and don't think I'll be able to get there before 7pm. Got a ticket but just realised that I might not be allowed entry if they close the doors
@Heavyarms55 I'll eat some for you
@GuruOfGreatness You should be able to come in and out as you wish. I won't be arriving until 7ish - you should be fine. I''ll be donning a NL t-shirt so be sure to say hello
@Lord Hopefully catch you next time =
@Richard_Atkinson
Thank you buddy I'll get there for 7ish then without any worry. Look forward to seeing you there
@GuruOfGreatness Sweet! Follow me on Twitter if you want so I can ping a message over @Ninten_Mau5
@Richard_Atkinson
Sorry mate, but I'm one of the very few of my generation who does not have Twitter lol. In all honesty I'm also a bit of a technophobe, I just like consoles lol.
