Team17 has today revealed a brand new trailer for the upcoming, mysterious platform adventure Planet Alpha.
In the video above, we get to have a look at the atmospheric, enigmatic alien world that players will be exploring, as well as a showcase of some of the strange, creative, and intriguing puzzle elements of the game. These puzzle elements are blended with fast paced side-scrolling platforming sections, stealth mechanics, and environment manipulation, all within an art style that we think is visually stunning.
In Planet Alpha you awake on this strange alien world, complete with a whole host of mystical, exotic flora and fauna. As you explore the world around you, you'll uncover the ability to rotate and control the planet. Is this world really as tranquil and serene as it first appears?
We're still to receive a definite release date for the game as of yet, with the upsettingly vague mention of "2018" still being the official word. The trailer does say that the game is "coming soon", however, so we hope to hear a little more in the next few months.
Until then, what do you think of the world of Planet Alpha? Will you be exploring its mysterious ways when the game arrives on Switch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The last visually stunning game I took a chance on was Fe and that turned out to be a mediocre experience. I've learned my lesson and will wait for the reviews on this one.
First we get a news post about Another World and here's a game likely heavily inspired by it.
Have to applaud Team17’s support of the switch so far. They really have brought a nice variety of games to the system. This looks interesting
Side scrolling platformers on Switch are like FPS back on Xbox 360.
At least this is one of the better looking ones. Wait for the NL review - keep it on the side list.
Interested, will wait for a review.
looks nice. most likely from a PC or PS4 version.
wonder how far they'll have to degrade the switch version..
Wow this looks fantastic. I just hope it’s a bit more than an Inside/Limbo style game. I want to have some pickups and power ups and abilities and ...
wow this would be great as a metroidvania.
The game looks fantastic though and I’ll probably get it regardless.
It's peaked my interest a bit, not much going on with gameplay in the trailer, though. Will have to see more
My gosh. It looks like Hyper Light Drifter and Abzu's art styles meet Inside's gameplay. It concerns me that any game can nail my sensibilities so specifically. Color me captivated.
It is simple for me i see the name team17 i buy they have never let me down so far every game of theirs i have bought has been fun and well worth the price
It's a very pretty game and Team 17 has a solid track record in my eyes so it's on my watch list.
Read about this in the last Edge, and yeah Team 17 put out good stuff
hmmm a part of me was like another side scroller...but maybe just maybe.
@SmaggTheSmug Agree. Came directly after reading that article. Hope this is as engaging as Another World and twice as long. Waiting for great reviews prior committing to a download.
Looks nice but I am not a fan of the puzzle platformer genre.
Now this looks amazing. Yeah, I'm also not a fan of puzzle-platforming, as I prefer to have the actual means of dealing with the things trying to kill me instead of...dropping blocks on them? But I don't mind it if they're going all out and trying to make it as exciting and varied as possible, and I like what I saw. Also seems to have some tense atmosphere, which should be a plus for a game centered around a mystery, and of course I love sci-fi.
If this reviews well I am all over this. Love the style of the video
Hmm it looks interesting and Team 17 has been delivering good games on the Switch so far.
If the gameplay is as good as the graphics this could be incredible.
Ah, its not a runner!
