We were thrilled to learn the Nintendo DS classic The World Ends With You is getting a Final Remix re-release on Nintendo Switch, and now we've been treated to a brand new trailer and a peek at its rather funky-looking new limited edition.
The It’s a Wonderful Bag Limited Edition is a Square Enix e-Store exclusive priced at 17,000 yen (US$155.31) and, as you might expect, it's a Japanese exclusive (for now at least). For your money you get a physical copy of the game, a mini soundtrack, an artbook, a stylus pen, acrylic stand, silver foil sticker, puffy stickers and a re-usable bag.
You can check out the Japanese trailer above. Let us know what you make of it, and whether we're going to see more special editions with 're-usable bags'...

ToooOOOOooOooootes excited!
bring that limited edition to America and Europe/UK
$95 on top of the usual $60 for about $10 worth of tat seems a bit steep. I doubt TWEWY will even cost as much $60 seeing as it's a port of a 10 year old DS game but I won't be surprised if it does.
They keep teasing but we still don't have any release date.
I loved it on 3DS and I plan to love it on switch.
Ah that’s great so never about sequel.
Well it's nice but it's a lot of extra money for some things I don't need and won't use!
You're better off just buying the normal edition and then some extra eShop games if you have that much cash to burn...
Wow, that is a lot for basically a game, soundtrack and artbook.
I want to buy this game, but I hope it's like 40 dollars max at this point.
Dang. All hot and fresh out the kitchen.
@OorWullie well this is Square Enix. These are the same people that encourage Kingdom Hearts fans to buy the exact same Games 3 times each before Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out because, you know, you need to be "refreshed" on the series.
I will say I absolutely love the world ends with you, but I'm actually disappointed we are not getting a sequel. This game originally came out a decade ago they then told us there's no chance of the sequel whatsoever. Then they teased us for over a week and give us a mobile port which destroyed the point of the game. And now you're making it into a console game that is a port of the mobile port. Please don't say people are surprised I'm disappointed.
I will also say, these Collector's Editions that Square Enix comes out with are far too expensive. I am interested for the soundtrack but I'm not interested in dropping $90 for it.
the fact that they are making this package at all scares me in terms of base price. It is seeming more like they are going to charge 60$ instead of 40$...really it should cost like 20$
That's an awful lot of money for not a lot of tat.
i buy it i did not get it on the ds and it is on mobile 18 but i like it as a phyical game it looks cool i hope we get neko in smash along with this in the us
RELEASE DATE!!! YESSSSS.
That's a crazy expensive limited edition... I mean, that's ebay reseller pricing right there, before it's even on the original store. And what you're getting for it isn't even all that interesting. For that price they should include a TWEWY themed joy-con set, or an original DS Lite with the original game.
Any release date?
Never played this game, so it'll be on my radar, but not for $59.99 (it's a remaster of a DS game: even $39.99 is pushing it, imo).
Nice physical edition, but I've given up on those. And that price is still rather... bad.
@Ralizah agreed, the price to me would be ok at about 30 bucks, considering the effort they have put in. Awesome game, there is no arguing that, but it still was a DS game.
Can't wait for September 27th..... Surprised no one mentioned that!
I played "The World Ends with You: Solo Remix" on iPhone and it already had HD graphics. This would need to have a lot of new content to even consider it.
You guys are complaining for no reason, it's one of the best games of all time, it's worth the money. I for one hope we get that limited edition, I want it so bad.
Great game, don't know if it will be great on the Switch in docked mode.
Should've made a TWEWY 2 and the Limited Edition is just dumb.
Years ago, they would give all that crap away for free to promote the game.
These days, they bundle it and sell it for $90 more as an Limited Edition. And gamers get all excited lol.
I'm trying not to buy CEs right now, but gosh that looks nice.
This is the first time the release date's been revealed, no? Why wasn't that pointed out in the article?
@ArcanaXVI The game's definitely coming to the west! It's just the limited edition that's Japan-exclusive.
I want that Special Edition but I'm rather sick of Square Enix for only making them available on their Square Enix Store at a significant markup. I'm still buying this game, probably digital off the eShop unless there is an English physical version that makes its way to Canada as well, then I'll get that. Hopefully a English Special Edition will be released here and not limited to the SE Store only.
@ArcanaXVI Ah I see, I misunderstood your comment. Hopefully the Switch release will expand the game's popularity - I'll certainly be buying it for the first time!
My absolute favorite out of 40+ ds games i have bought. I buy remakes if I like the original games but with this one I am not sure. It worked so well with the dual screen I cant imagine switch version can top that gameplay..
This game was the real surprise of the January Direct to me.
I've heard good things of TWEWY countless times in terms of plot and gameplay, and I will buy it day 1! Hopefully in the west there will be a "mid-limited edition" (sort of cartridge + artbook + soundtrack) at a more reasonable price...
@LordGeovanni
Forget KH, look at this game alone.
The port on phones teased this game at the end.
They literally used a port to hype up another port of the same game.
@Ttimer5 I know, right? I found it weird that the article and even a lot of people in the comments didn't mention the biggest news of all. THE END OF THE TRAILER HAS THE FIRST REVEAL OF A RELEASE DATE. That's more important news than the trailer or the special edition set. I guess some poeple are just reading the article and not watching the trailer...
@Dogorilla I KNOW, RIGHT? RELEASE DATE, PEOPLE!
So what's this game about? Visual Novel?
I can't help but feel this trailer is missing something. Needs more...
Candy cane.
I'm a sucker for art books offered in special editions. But I'm not sure if a $155 asking price would be worth it here. A partial soundtrack, a bag, a pen, an acrylic stand, and stickers. $100, maybe, but certainly not $155.
"US Research Analyst Believes Gaming Could Become 100% Digital By 2022
"The It’s a Wonderful Bag Limited Edition is a Square Enix e-Store exclusive priced at 17,000 yen (US$155.31) "
Bwahahahahaha.
Over 10 years later, where's the real TWEWY2?
I`ve wanted to play this game for years, but I was never to enthused about the touch controls. When Nintendo announced this would come to Switch with normal controls, it became a day one buy for me.
Cant wait to play it!
I really hope they release it to the NA market!
@KingdomHeartsFan all according to plan, my dude!
I loved this the first time I played it. It's certainly been long enough for me to revisit
@MattFox
To each their own, but personally without the two screens the game loses most of its appeal to me.
The original was a game about juggling between 2 characters on 2 screens. At first it was cumbersome, unintuitive, frustrating. But that learning curve was what made falling into the rhythm of combat so enticing. You were improving your own skills alongside rpg stats.
It made you really feel more connected with your partners too, who have basically been demoted to power-ups in subsequent ports. Several gameplay mechanics have been scrapped entirely, and a few bosses have been retooled (read: dumbed down) to accommodate a single screen.
I'm still excited about this one. I failed to snag the DS version back in the day and am interested in how it will translate over to the Switch.
@BLD Well, like I said, I never played the original, so I have no idea what you`re talking about. I just didnt like the notion of touch controls, and I never really saw it for sale( I never had a DS, only a 3DS )
I cannot express how badly I want the art book! Well I want all the stuff but I love the art style of TWEWY so much! I would like it if they make it available in the West but I’m not going to get my hopes up.
155? that's a lot of moolah
Still have my DS version of this. A beautiful classic. I'm surprised there are no pin badges with the special edition though.....
This is up there as one of the best RPG's of all time according to my bro. He's been telling me I needed to play this game for years.
But you couldn't pay me enough money to tolerate this on mobile, and I really don't want to play on a 3DS anymore.
So Switch is my saving grace. Will finally allow me to play this amazing game in full HD graphics with controllers and not only that but on the TV or on the go whenever I want.
Man I love the Switch. Thank you Nintendo for finally developing a console that makes every single game released for it even more awesome than it already is.
ok so hopefully september -ish release for north america too. also really hoping the standard edition of the game is not $60 :- /
What a load of ***((&U&, We in NA would by it without a blink.
Might sound cheap here, but if I wanted to play the game again I would just take out the DS version. There's no decent way to translate the combat system to Switch, or phones for that matter.
Though I can't say no to the (million times) better sound, graphics not so much.
Sohcahtoa.
I haven't played this before but I've heard its good and I have been looking forward checking it out... great job SE not showing any gameplay.
@Rhaoulos maybe the west version isn't far off from the Japanese release? which comes out on September 27, 2018
@BLD Totally agree with you this is one those games that truly utilize the dual screen of the DS without the second screen the games looses part of the gameplay and charm
the memorabilia looks cool and all but 150$ for some stand, pen, stickers and a cheap bag are way over my budget! You can buy the new Xiaomi tablet with snapdragon 650 processor with that much money.
Generally love Japanese games but also generally hate their trailers - all artwork and no gameplay.....
@ArcanaXVI You sir are very eloquent, and now I understand why touch controls are so important for this game. I havent found TWEWY for sale in my country, so I`d have to import it, which could in fact be more expensive than the Switch version. I will wait for it to release to decide if I`ll get the Switch version or if I`ll hunt down the DS version. I will not get the special version, though( the price of the Dollar here is absurd lol )
If this is the only way to get the game physically then u HAVE to have it. Plz release (something like) this in EU / US.
@Aozz101x
Thanks for the info. At least I won't expect it until the Japanese release.
I'm sad, was hoping this would have 3D graphics like Dream Drop Distance and Chain of Memories.
It looks good! When it arrives to the west, it's mine!
