Publisher Limited Run Games loves a good special edition, and it's about to give two Switch indie hits their very own corporeal forms. That's right, the ghostly platforming of Flinthook and the all-out warfare of Mercenary Kings Reloaded are going physical for $29.99 each, but that's not all.
If you've got a surplus of cash stuffed under a mattress somewhere, there's also the whopping Tribute Treasure Boxed Edition. It includes both games in boxed form, a copy of each game's soundtrack on a respective CD (because old school), a pair of reversible posters and a steelbook with box art for either game on each side. Oh, and you reverse on the covers on each game as well, if you're into that sort of thing. It'll set you back $89.99. You can pre-order all of them in time for the 23rd April.
The physical editions from Limited Run are always a great addition to your collection, especially if you loved boxed copies of games normally bound to digital-only releases. Let us know if you'll be plumping for one of these glitzy editions...

Never played flint hook but mercenary kings i have for ps+. Will probably order both!
Flinthook looks entertaining but wouldn't spend that money on a physical version.
Definitely going in on a standard Flinthook. Been waiting to get it physical.
@Fearful-Octopus What do you think of Mercenary Kings?
When was CD old school?
Gonna get the standard editions.
I really liked the look of Flinthook on the eShop, a physical release is very tempting.
I got a real sweetspot for indie physicals, like Cave Story+, Ittle Dew 2+, and Owl Boy next month.
I love the rogue lite elements of Flint hook I was getting into a rythm of progression when it launched on Xbox but got side tracked and never went back. I think mercenary Kings is way too underrated and slept on games. I had a blast playing coop when it was free on the ps4 and I just bought it to play solo on the switch and I already put 10 hours in. And my game share buddy on Xbox bought it and we've been playing it here and there.
@wazlon I love local co-op, the art style is awesome, really enjoy 2d side scroll shoot em ups. The AI could be a little wonky but i think the game is fun.
Anxiously awaits news of them doing Yooka Laylee and Okami
Will try to get the Tribute Treasure Box. (Only 3000) if im to late i will get both games loose. (Open timed pre order). Trying to keep my switch LRG collection complete.
I picked up Thimbleweed Park but I'm not so sure about these two. I've got Owlboy, Shantae and Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap pre-ordered though, so that should see me through on the indie front for a bit.
awwww... personally I don't like MK that much, but I'm TOTALLY in love with the case art for Flinthook (and the game itself)...
There are so many other great games on the Switch eShop that deserve a physical release, but which Limited Run doesn't seem to care about, it's depressing me :/.
@Kafei2006 Maybe they do have them, but just not announced yet? Maybe Super Rare Games got them? Or someone else? Or maybe the producer for whatever reason don't think their game will sell well enough to justyfie a retail (albeit limited) version? Currently all we know for sure for Switch from LRG is Saturday morning RPG and Slime-san. (Or something like that. Don't remember the excact title)
Hopefully stardew valley, and golf story get a physical release eventually! 😀
@JoeyJoey95 If SRG gets Yooka Laylee, I hope they will do more than 5k. Feels like those would sell out much faster than their current two titles has.
@JoeyJoey95
Thanks for the heads-up, just subscribed to theirs and Limited Run Games' news letters. Hopefully I can grab those 2 games if/whenever they get announced.
I do wonder how long it'll take for them to start going after Capcom's games? Capcom pulling the "2nd game digital to save money" with all of their releases and pissing off tons of people in the process is just screaming for LRG and SRG to go after those games and garner some more goodwill from the community.
Sign me up for Flinthook
@tobibra Yooka Laylee has been out physically on other platforms for ages, so there was interest from the dev there, but not on Switch. And then you have Fast RMX, which the Wii U version thereof DID get a physical release as well... but once again just not on Switch. These two games should have been priorities imho, be it from Limited Run Games or Super Rare Games, doesn't matter.
@Kafei2006 Look, I think I get how you feel, I want many games to be retail too. But developers are not gonna sign contracts to do physical releases unless they think they earn money on it. And for all we know, these publishers want to get or allready has got these rights, but can't say anything because NDA reasons.
I want Shovelknight retail on the Switch. Maybe Yatch Club will do it themself after they are done with all the DLC? Maybe they will get Fangamer to it for them like they did with the Vita version? Maybe it won't happen at all.
Just because a game was released retail on another console does not mean it will be on Switch.
If I remember right, LRG did not get to release on Switch before 2018. So it would not been possible for them, and maybe not for the developers either, to do a Switch release of Yooka Laylee at the same time as the other platforms.
And I would guess its easier for small publishers like LRG to get games from developers they have worked with earlier.
@JoeyJoey95 Awesome!😀
Limited Run Games...bleh.
They'll all be sold out before anyone can get a hold of a copy and then resold online for double or triple the price :S
Yay I got them both... now I'll have to wait for august to play them.
