We haven't heard much news on the Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus front as of late - bar news that Panic Button (the studio tasked with porting the game to Switch) is hard at work on other titles as well - but that lack of update could mean we're set to play the game in the near future with Bethesda announcing the Switch version will be available to play at its upcoming Bethesda Gameplay Day.
The event, which will take place next month at PAX East in Boston, will give lucky attendees the chance to play the game on Nintendo's handheld. There's no news on how much of the game will be available, but considering how well DOOM and Skyrim turned out in November last year, we're excited to see how a powerhouse such as the Wolfenstein sequel runs on Switch. The event will be taking place at Laugh Boston on 7th April if you're in the area.
Oh, and attendees will also have the chance to win this custom Switch, with a design based on BJ Blazkowicz's in-game flight jacket. Nice!
Let us know what you make of that rad looking Switch design, and whether you'll be at PAX East next month. Are you looking forward to Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus? Let us know...

all over this when it eventually comes out... glad I waited
Fellow Switch owners, time to put your money where your mouth is...we want Mature games? Prove it.
Can't wait to see how it runs at this point.
@QwertyQwerty I thought The New Order was coming to the Switch too? Guess not. :-/
If they manage to port it as well as DOOM, I'm all in!
I always wondered how Doom and Skyrim sold on the Switch for them but never saw any news stories. Hopefully they did well so they continue to support it.
I bought both titles and will buy this too, can't wait.
I’m oretty hyped for this title. Shooting nazis on a switch console
I just recently bought The New Order on 360 in preparation for this. Already have The New Colossus preordered. Hopefully it's not a longer wait.
Inb4 all the "this runs better on muh PS4/Xbox One/PC" comments
But yeah, can't wait for this game. Given Panic Button's work on DOOM, I'm sure this port will run well.
that is good news. I already got it on PC. it was only 29.99 and I can play it at 2560X1600 @60fps at Max on my PC. These type of games are best on PC in my book.
Great campaign - and the DLC was good also. Hopefully will do good business on Switch. whatever gets us another in the series.
OMG BRING IT ON NINTENDO ! been waiting for so long for this news! my wallet are ready!
@QwertyQwerty What a "kid" thinks mature is? Are you being sarcastic?
@QwertyQwerty You seem to be focusing on the themes, while I am focused on what can be found in the game.
"Players use guns, explosives, sci-fi weapons, hatchets to kill human enemies, as well as some dogs, resulting in a lot of blood, gore, dismemberment, screams of pain. Scenes of female nudity, including a shot of a topless woman in bed. Player hears two people having sex, and then see them engaging in it while clothed. Frequent use of "f--k," "s--t," "motherf----r," "[removed]" the "N" word, as well as comments that are racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic."
That appears rather adult to me.
@QwertyQwerty Fair enough, Fair enough.
Too all the naysayers who said this was cancelled. You're not allowed to pine over the awesome custom Switch. Nor can you have a chance to win it. Even if you go to PAX East. You know who you are! 😎👊
If it’s as good as Doom I’m in day 1
WANT
Looking forward to seeing what their engine guys have gotten out of the last half year.
I'm not too hooked on actually playing this game, but the graphical finesse these guys manage is a beacon for anyone else seeking to push the Switch as far as it goes.
@Nintendoforlife You see I agree with the other poster - all you just listed sounds like what a teenager would say is mature - I think this has long been the issue with mature games - they are all mature themes and subjects dealt with immaturely...
@QwertyQwerty Really? I heard the themes could be compared in approach to Robocop, silly but relevant.
Have this on Xbox One. Very good and anyone who wants this portable or only has a Switch should definitely get it. I won't because I only revisit FPS single player story games every couple years, so just not worth it to me to double dip. Great gameplay, story, and visuals though.
Day one purchase.
The custom Switch looks cool, but I don’t want to go to Boston just to try and win it.
@QwertyQwerty could you give me a list of actual mature M rated games?
Just curious what I should be playing for an enriching adult experience.
This game is amazing.
I loved the first one but the second just raises the ante. I love it. Bought for my X1X, but it was so gosh dang good that I forced myself to stop playing after the 2nd or 3rd chapter. Because I wanted to wait for Switch (particularly since DOOM motion update released which makes me want this even more on Switch).
I'll take that custom console too.
@admwllms my guess since Skyrim was a big part of the reveal trailer for the Switch that Nintendo and Bethesda have some kind of mutal partnership or maybe even Nintendo is helping to support some of these Bethesda titles coming over
I've been feverishly awaiting this game's release on Switch!
I'm so happy Bethesda is supporting the Switch. Hope we get the first game at some point. It's so frustrating not being able to play a full story of a game lol.
What I’d like to see is same-day ports from Bethesda. Before the Xbone/PS4 versions came out, it was announced that a Switch version would come "at a later time". But what Bethesda really needs to do is have all their future games come to all systems on the same day.
@Thisismycomment
I'm not sure it makes sense businesswise actually : if I get it right porting a game to the Switch require time and funds. So delaying a ready-to-go game on Xbox and PS4 (and therefore lose money) doesn't seem to be the way to go.
Plus some people might "double dip" on Switch, but not the other way around.
I'm still holding out for a Fallout 3 / Las Vegas port ^_^
I know many will be complaining that it's cheaper & better on X Y Z, but the real selling point for the Switch version is of course the portability; I'm happy to pay a small premium so I can partake in shooting the enemy in the face from the comfort of my bed.
It will probably have 2 to 3 less pixels than the other versions, 4 or 5 trees may not appear at a certain moment and there will be one frame less at the end of the game. I'll start moaning from now.
@Juma009 I bought Doom and Skyrim day 1. This is another day 1 purchase for me.
@sikthvash I'm hoping out for Fallout 4. The gunplay and the construction was a lot of fun, even if the dialogue was a huge letdown.
If the game supports motion aiming, I'll buy it. Oh, and the Switch is still a hybrid, Sheamus!👍
@QwertyQwerty not sarcastic, just wondering what a mature M rated game would be. Most get flagged for excessive swearing, nudity, violence, and gore and some tell a good story. Never tried out Planescape. I'll look into that.
@Tibob What about reports that the game wasn’t selling as well as hoped on the other consoles, and people assuming it’s because they were waiting for the promised Switch port? Same day or delayed, doesn’t really matter sales-wise.
I understand the current game was already in development for the other consoles before Switch was even announced. That’s why I said future games. Games that aren’t in development yet.
After what I’ve seen with doom and Skyrim I buy any switch game that Bethesda makes
Finally! I can’t wait for this! Day 1 no question, keep these type of games coming.
Ooh, I'll get to check it out!
@Thisismycomment
Did any game undersell "suposedly because people were waiting for it to come out on Switch" ?
Same day or delayed does matter : some people just can't wait so they'll get the "home console" version, and then 3 or 6 months later when it shows up on Switch some might get it again on a portable system. I doubt anyone would buy two copies of a gameon the same day : one for the portability, the other for the Hi-Res.
@admwllms Apparently Doom didn't sell too well (at least physical sales) while Skyrim did.
Not sure if Bethesda have released any official numbers but those end of fiscal year reports will be coming up soon to have a gander at.
@QwertyQwerty Yeah, that may have been the vibe they were going for. Ridiculous dystopian future with excessive melodrama, like Robocop. I mean you fight in a wheelchair a one point, I can't see how they can play that up for much other than a laugh.
Are we going to ignore that beautiful custom made switch? Forget the game, I'm sure it'll be a good port but does this mean qe could see more "special editions" of switches from other companies and Nintendo themselves?
2 down, 7 to go?
Does this means that they are porting all Fallout games and the first Wolfenstein?
I ignored Wolfenstein TNC on the other consoles so that I could get it for the Switch. I hope it has motion aiming too, I passed on Doom as it didn't have it (but now that it does might pick it up when it goes on sale).
I can't stress enough how great the story is in this game. It's even more compelling if you played the first one. I really felt immersed in the game during the more cinematic moments
@Tibob Can you explain why there were reports that it didn’t sell as well as they hoped then? Also most people don’t buy games twice. For example, I have the Crash trilogy on PS4. Am I going to get it on Switch too? No, I’m not. Spyro was announced for PS4 and Switch, I’m going to get it on Switch.
I wish Nintendo would release more custom Nintendo Switch models...
When this eventually comes out I'll likely purchase it.
@Dayton311 lol you waited? This game is like 20 dollars on other systems and will play worse on Switch. Let me guess, portability and whatnot.
@Thisismycomment those reports don't exist, because it wasn't true.
@JaxonH Yeah, this game's fantastic, and I personally enjoyed the story. Can't wait to blast more Nazis with lasers and dual machine pistols. I'm interested to see if they can translate the game's beautiful lighting effects onto Switch as well, though they'll probably look quite a bit toned down.
I am wondering how they are going to do the physical version. If it is like LA noir It does not matter how much I want the game ...I will simply pass on it on Switch
Really hypped for this one. I did not play the latest ones but return to castle is one of my favourite FPS (even though is still awakward to me to play this without a mouse)
@XenoShaun ah good to know, hopefully we'll find out more soon then!
@QwertyQwerty yeah I know I have tried it on PS4 I just meant in terms of quality once I started playing Doom on switch I couldn’t stop
@ballistic90 Didn't get far in my playthrough in Fallout 4 on PC - there's a good chance this will eventually make the leap over to Switch... lots of rumours floating round!
Panic button did awesome with doom , I have faith they will do this game justice. If I have enough money I'm driving to Boston! That would make an amazing belated anniversary date for my lady.
@Thisismycomment
"Can you explain why there were reports that it didn’t sell as well as they hoped then?" You mean Wolfenstein II ?
Because it released on the very same day as Mario Odyssey and Assassin's Creed, and merely a week before CoD:WWII.
I'll go against common consensus: I think it's a decent (as far as shooting is concerned), hugely over-hyped game.
Story-wise it pales in comparison to The New Order and also The Old Blood. Quite boring, despite starting really well. Level design feels erratic at best, there's little to no diversity and some areas (i.e. post-atomic NY) feels really bland.
Didn't like B.J. Blazko's character developement. AT ALL.
He switched from the silent hero that carried the weight of the world on his shoulders to an Inglorious Basterds-parody thrash-talking brat. Which he SHOULDN'T be.
Ending is lackluster to say the least. I won't spoil it, but if you didn't already play it on PC/Console prepare yourselves to be hugely disappointed.
Epic boss battles? Forget about it. No London Monitor, no Deathshead, no Rudi Jäger... almost nothing memorable on that side. Just lesser enemies zerging you from all sides, with the occasional super-trooper or iron-man joining the party.
It's without a shadow of doubt my biggest letdown of 2017.
They pushed it too far and failed to bring the franchise to new (and deserved) heights. I would give it a 6.5, max 7 (on a sunny day when my mood is right) on 10, and mostly because shooting feels more than decent and (often) satisfying.
Now 7 isn't bad per-se, you know... but I was expecting more, way more.
[EDIT] That cover tho... sick.
@QwertyQwerty If it's a good port, why not? If it's not, that would be the time not to buy it. Besides, Bethesda has been Nintendo's best supporter, as far as third-party goes. You may not think it's as good as The New Order, which I couldn't tell you since I've held off on Wolfenstein II for the Switch version, but that doesn't mean other people won't enjoy it. If anything, there is nothing else like it on the Switch right now.
This game is a huge deal, this is one of the most taxing and visually demanding games of this gen, apparently even the base xbox one struggles
I'm shocked they have even attempted this game on the switch
But the fact that they are showing this off and have even customized a switch for this game shows they have confidence in what they have done
If this games runs and plays well then almost anything is possible
@gatorboi352 Yes but I can't take that $20 game on my airplane travels each week. I know to most it's all about performance, price and appearance, but to me that portability is worth the sacrifice and sometimes higher price!
I've even started taking my dock with me on the road to play in hotel rooms as it weighs nothing and is so easy to transport!
