Indies are finding a new and welcoming home on Nintendo Switch, and there's another exciting and unusual game planning on to join that throng in the form of The Void Rains Upon Her Heart. It's a side-scrolling shmup, with the twist being you play an actual heart that will attempt to teach monsters to love again by shooting them to death with smaller love hearts. Think bullet-hell meets Love Actually. Or not. Okay, just go with it...
The game is the first title to be published by The Hidden Levels, a media outlet making its first foray into video game publishing. It's focusing on giving small indie titles that otherwise might have struggled to get exposure, and TVRUHH is the first game in that small scale crusade. The plan is to have the game launch on Steam Early Access on 14th February (Valentine's Day, naturally) then bring the game to consoles (including Switch) once it exits the PC-based program.
There's no word on when this will be, but once it does the benefit is the game would have already gone through a rigorous amount of changes following hands-on feedback from users. And with two different characters to play, 14 monsters to slay/love and 42 gifts to collect there's going to be plenty of ways to spread your affection.
Let us know what you make of this odd little indie and whether you'll show it some love when it eventually shoots onto the Nintendo Switch eShop.

I'm sick of seeing "New Indie Game Just announced for Switch!" Where are the big publishers?
The Wii U was shmup starved . . . Switch is a shmup feast!
@QwertyQwerty I know, right? Surely any Nintendo game (including Tingle games would be better than nothing.
I'd love a Mario Sports Mix remaster with one new sport, let the almighty EA shove some lootboxes in and send it out to consumers in an unfinished state! Anything is better than indie after indie after indie!
Getting Fantasy Zone vibes from this one, could be good.
Why is Kracko a flower?
WANT!!
I 'love' the amount of shooters currently, and coming to, the Switch.
For this one I'd have to see and hear more about the final product. Since this is clearly bullet-hell stuff, it's success will depend on the creativity of bullet and enemy patterns, as well as having a good scoring system that makes players want to return to the game.
As for the visuals. I'm not really sure what style they're aiming for, but aside from minor inconsistencies it looks alright for now.
Also, just coincidence but for a slight moment I thought the same game was displayed on the front-page twice, lol:
@Matthew010,
Lol, they aren't coming! Switch is Nintendo first party+old ports+loads and loads and loads of indies! We never see new, proper retail third-party games on Switch.
Very sad but true. I said it months ago and nothing has changed. Allll those over-expensive indies, is that's the way to fill your library? Its pathetic!
@Slaz Hey Slaz, this is Kitty from The Hidden Levels. I would recommend to all people who have access to PC and time to check out the demo which is currently on http://veyeralgames.com/
The game is very special and crafted from love, we've inputted our own experiences from several disorders in real life into this game. The Void Rains is extremely addictive with it's roguelite features and patterns which are lovingly good. You can also pick it up on Steam shortly, Feb 14th 2018 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/790060/The_Void_Rains_Upon_Her_Heart/
Thank you for hearing me out.
@KittyTHL Alright, the game sure looks more interesting from the gameplay videos posted on Steam. I'm currently on my MacBook so can't try the Alpha, but will prefer the PC version over a Switch version atm as I don't have an Arcade controller compatible with the Switch.
@Matthew010 don’t ever mention tingle......EVER. He’s to be referred to as ‘he who shall not be named’
@Slaz Will see what I can do about getting a mac build out there too. Thanks!
@Mr_Pepperami Whenever I read Tingle dialog in a Zelda game. My mind reads it in an Apu accent for some reason.
@KittyTHL Ah, that’d be nice and always a good thing if the engine you’re using supports building to MacOS or XCode project. I do have a decent (desktop) PC but considering my work stuff is on a MacBook, about 90% of the week I’m on MacOS.
So it's basically if the final boss from Kirby's Dream Land 3 was made into a whole game. Gotcha. Looks neat.
@Matthew010 It HAS been a bit since a big release. But I think that is kind of because in Japan they just got Mario+Rabbids. We are getting Bayonetta 1+2 this month so there is that to look forward to!
Add some online leaderboards, I'm in looks fun and the graphics along with the concept and art style put a smile on my face .
@Heavyarms55 Too young to play that - what's for me?
@Matthew010 Too young? Kid, then you should look at the huge variety of eshop titles rated E and wait for March and Kirby or Scribblenaughts.
@Heavyarms55 Im 13.
@Matthew010 Well then add in the Teen games too. Check out the recommendations thread in the forum if you at at a loss for what to try.
This reminds me of that game "Where is my heart'... one of the best and innovative game I've played. Port it to Switch please.
@Heavyarms55 First, you're missing the point. I want a new 1st/2nd party game, not just indies. Second, it's funny how your attitude towards me changed after you found out I wasn't above 20 years old.
@Matthew010 Relax dude. You are reading too much into "attitude" in text form. Here are some suggestions that are rated for teen or younger assuming you have ALL the big Nintendo titles already:
Disgaea 5 Complete
Ultra Street Fighter 2
Cave Story
Rayman Legends
Dragon Ball Xenoverse
Fire Emblem Warriors
Minecraft Story Mode
Dragon Quest Builders(coming soon but there is a Demo)
If you have all of these, let me know, because there are more still.
@Heavyarms55 Sorry to annoy you, but I don't mean old big games - I want new big game announcements.
@Matthew010 Then I point you to the Nintendo Switch forum on this site. They have a thread of recommendations, plenty to choose from there.
@Heavyarms55 No! I'm obviously not making myself clear enough. I mean big new games such as a new Mario Party and not big recently released games.
