Nintendo Switch isn't exactly wanting when it comes to puzzle games, but not many can say they also happen to be a serial killer simulator. That's the wares that Slayaway Camp: Butcher's Cut is selling, an isometric puzzler that places you in the murderous shoes of Skullface, a pyscho slasher with a taste for pixelated blood.
It's not a straight up horror, with its tongue placed firmly in cheek as you squash, flay and decapitate hapless victims in this darkly comic homage to '80s horror movies. You'll be able to guide this voxel criminal through hundreds of isometric puzzles, taking out your chosen prey in a variety of creative and laugh-out-loud ways. It's already proved a hit elsewhere, so we're looking forward to seeing this indie join the 'nindie' club.
We love quirky little indies here at Nintendo Life, but what do you think? Sound off below with your thoughts and hot takes...

Great! Another mobile port...
To be honest this looks like more shovelware...
This game is loads of demented fun. The blocks may be blocky and the puzzles pixelated but the vibe is definitely cheesy 80's slasher films. Just beware some of the puzzles are TOUGH.
Don't be so quick to judge, people. This game is hilarious.
Here's a video:
Oh, and it's NOT a mobile game: it made it's debut on Steam, as clearly depicted in this reveal trailer.
I've seen some gameplay of this, and it looks really fun. Also, it's been on Steam and Ps4 (I think) as well as mobile, so you can't really call it a straight-up mobile port.
What a Cheap looking Game
It's fun on my phone, if somewhat repetitive.
May look cheap but I bought this on the Ps4 and its a blast!Finished it ages ago but had so much fun with it.If you like the Hitman Go or Lara Croft Go games it is kind of like that but with lots of blood,Gore and girly screams
Another game about violence and blood. What is today's world coming to? Won't someone think of the children?
This is an AMAZING puzzle game, and I personally welcome it into my Switch library.
@ThanosReXXX great trailer. Totally changed my mind. May give this a download after all
It can have the best trailer in the world. The gameplay itself just doesn't interest me. Just got old fast.
@Supadav03 You're welcome.
EDIT:
P.S.
Perhaps you should also have a look at some actual gameplay before you make up your mind. I thought the trailer might be enough for some incentive, but obviously, gameplay is key.
Wouldn't want you to make any mis-buy on my account...
So, here:
To the doubters, this game is incredibly fun. I played it on the PS4 and it is a great value for the price, packed with humor, and some mind melting puzzles to boot.
This makes me very happy. I've played this heaps on my tablet and when they announced the console version I emailed and asked if they would go to switch since it was such a clear fit. They responded "who can say?".
For the doubters gameplay wise this is a simple sliding block puzzler with some clever mechanics as you go further. Aesthetically it's a glorious to 80's style B-grade slasher movies and it has a ton of fun with it's material. There have been killers based on almost every major horror/sci-fi franchise and it's just fantastic fun.
Not a fan of voxel art style, but I enjoy sliding block puzzlers, and most importantly; Sleepaway Camp is an all time classic 80s slasher. I was probably too young the first time I saw it, and after the shock ending and horrifying freeze frame, I just sat there traumatized, staring at the screen as the credits rolled.
Looks good fun to me and certainly something different. Going by the reviews it received on PS4 it'll be another Switch purchase for me.
Not my cup of tea. Pass.
@justin233
Blood and violence? Sounds like my childhood.
Garbage.
played this on steam – is a really nice little game! you can unlock different killers and different killing styles. the episodes in the menu are displayed as vhs casettes. you can even rewind (glitchy vhs effects included) every step you take. lots of love in this little game, also it gets really tough in the later levels.
will repurchase this on switch, if the price is right…
Gosh. Mobile games come with a lot of negative baggage these days don't they.
This game has been well received critically on PC and mobile so a good port is a welcome addition to the Switch library.
whats a pyscho
