10tons has been extremely busy bringing its back catalogue to the Nintendo Switch, and has confirmed another title that's due to arrive soon - Xenoraid.
It'll arrive on 17th November priced at $9.99USD (with regional variations), and aims to offer its own twists on the vertical shoot 'em up genre. Details and an old trailer are below.
Xenoraid is a vertically scrolling shoot’em with gameplay accessible to all action game fans regardless of prior shmup genre experience. The missions are driven procedurally, so there are no memorization requirements. Real time fighter switching and metagame featuring squadron management give the game strategic aspects, while three survival levels with online leaderboards provide replay value.
Features:
- Experience dynamic shoot'em up action with no level memorization
- Switch between four fighters in the heat of combat
- Manage your squadron with weapon and tech upgrades
- Master advanced shooting mechanics like fighter tilting and weapon heat
- Fight through a Campaign mode with more than 40 missions and four boss fights
- Compete in three endless Survival stages with online leaderboards
Are you tempted by Xenoraid?

I feel like the Switch is going to be drowning in indie shmups soon.
Doesn't look worth $10. Game overload will kill some of this games from even getting a chance.
My shmup hunger is driving me insane. Will this scratch my itch? Will wait for a review...
For a vertical scroller, I fear they forgot to scroll the back drop lol. Anyhoo, if this is anything like 10tons other projects, we will get minor derivatives of this game every week for the next month. Each barely improving on the last. It looks naff...but dang I love shmups...
I've been not as interested in Indies as of late. High profile games releasing has been awesome.
10tons have put out some decent stuff so far. This doesn't look great, however.
I have this on PS4 and have enjoyed it. I'd recommend it!
Why do today's SHMUPS all look exactly the same? They could be procedurally generated and I'm sure I wouldn't notice.
Looks completely unnecessary considering we have better shmup options available right now and coming soon.
I'll stick to playing the Switch's shmup highlights Strikers 1945, Aero Fighters 2 and Blazing Star, i'll wait for the great Psykio masterpieces that are on the way (Zero Gunner 2, Gunbird, Samurai Aces, Strikers 1945 2) and i hope that Danmaku Unlimited 3 and Dimension Drive end up being good.
Make sure to look out for the sequel, Xenoraid Chronicles!
Right now, the best schmup on Switch is Sine Mora EX.
Gosh dang that game is good.
This is a fun game. Got it on Vita for a couple bucks. The only thing that annoys me is that right when you start getting your crew upgraded in a satisfying manner the story jumps you to a new set of levels and new ships to upgrade.
@EmirParkreiner "Zero Gunner 2, Gunbird, Samurai Aces, Strikers 1945 2)"
ALL great games!
@OGGamer Have you seen any news after the Zero Gunner 2 announcement of a release date?
Despite me not liking shoot 'em ups that much, it looks quite decent.
Although it's kinda shady how they're piggybacking on the upcoming release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I'm sure many people will misinterpret Xenoraid as a companion game.
Not a fan if these rather "flat" looking shm'ups; especially with dull backgrounds and generic enemies.
Will stick to the classic Japnese shm'ups we have plus those coming.
I heavily dislike the cartoon but also flash style graphics. They look like they're just dumped straight from an art package and it shows.
