Project Rap Rabbit is the new Kickstarter project from the minds behind titles such as PaRappa The Rapper, Vib-Ribbon, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and Gitaroo Man, but it's fair to say that it hasn't had the greatest of starts.
First off, news that the game would need to raise almost $5 million on Kickstarter to secure a Switch port caused something of a backlash, although that figure was later changed following feedback.
Even so, the title is struggling to raise funds, with only £136,605 pledged against a £855,000 goal so far. There are 10 days remaining on the campaign.

In an effort to convince more backers, a gameplay concept trailer has been released which shows the general flow of each rap battle. The visuals will obviously be different in the main game, with animated characters rather than static 2D images, but does it show enough promise to convince you to pledge? Let us know with a comment.

Seem nice
Well first of all asking for $5 million, just to make a switch version was idiotic, and it's pretty obivious its not even going to hit its goal.
What a waste of time and effort
I like it and the rabbits design is great. His rap not so much but the text says its done by a game developer. Its not bad though.
Japanese Hip Hop ?
Hm... 🤔
I prefer this one :
I like the concept and I backed the kickstarter when it first came around. I think they are asking for too much money though.
That was a dissapointment 😒
Unless someone crazy donates $800,000 in 10 days, then the project's kaput. It just goes to show that overconfidence kills.
"...Tasty, Tasty"
Backer exclusive stages bois!
@Myox77 I don't think they're asking for too much. The game indivisible, which is coming to the switch as well, had to ask fro $1.5 million to get funded. One of the common misconceptions that gamers have is how much it costs to make a game, even an indie title. Mike Z, one of the devs, said in an interview that the total cost of making indivisible comes up to around $3.5 million and that's with the team trying to pay its staff a decent salary and get the game out in 2 years instead of 3. Their publisher fronted $2 million and the had to crowdfund the rest, and even then the indiegogo campaign had to be extended for them to hit their goal.
Projects like shovel knight and bloodstained with initial goals in the $500k range make it seem like games are cheaper to make than they are. I'll link the article so you can see what I mean

Indie developers are way too obsessed with their past. After 2 fiascos like Mighty 9 and Yokay lele I doubt people will care about these games anymore
Thats nice but I just don't kickstart overall.
@Oat which is why I can't stand people complaining for animations in Bloodstained. The game looks like a love letter to Castlevania fans despite budgets constraints. I'm pretty sure Konami spends more than 5m per Castlevania.
I backed the game but unfortunately it looks like it won't happen :/
The problem is they dont have anything of the actual game to show. Just concepts. And that much money to make something that wont even surpass PaRappa 1's short length is pretty suspicious in its own right.
I hate rap! Paaaaaaasssss!!
