Much akin to how the minigames of Kirby: Triple Deluxe were later given fleshed out standalone releases on the eShops, the minigames of Kirby: Planet Robobot are also getting their own chance at the spotlight. Kirby’s Blowout Blast is particularly notable, however, for being the first game to take the super-tuff pink puff into a 3D style of gameplay. We knew this game would be coming sometime this summer, but Nintendo has just gone ahead and confirmed when it’ll be releasing in North America.
Nintendo of America recently posted to Twitter, confirming that Kirby’s Blowout Blast will be arriving on the eShop in the region on 6th July. The Japanese version was also recently confirmed to be coming out on 4th July, and the announcement was accompanied by this snazzy overview trailer showcasing what we can expect.
What do you think? Will you be picking this one up? Would you like to see a core Kirby game adopt this 3D approach? Drop us a comment in the section below.

Yes! Can't wait!
I'll be buying!
So many Kirby games on 3DS.
How much for this Kirby ?
Just so I'm clear, this is just one of the minigames from Kirby's most recent game? Any additions?
@amishpyrate I think it's more like how captain toad got a standalone release after the few levels in mario 3d world. So more fleshed out.
@NickOfTime90 that is a lot more fleshed out than the last kirby games that got standalone eshop treatment.
I think kirby the fighters just added online play and a couple of different abilities (Like spear)
@Roam85 Yeah, maybe not "full retail" fleshed out. I just read it wil have 25+ stages. I have no idea how many levels there were in robobot of this minigame...
This one looked really cool to me!
I'm confused, is this just a standalone mini game or is this like a full Kirby game?
Now this is how you do Kirby
It looks really fun but for now I'm saving my money for Miitopia. Then maybe I'll get this.
Looks pretty awesome. Kirby games tend to be very high quality so I'll probably get this one.
The DS/3DS years will be looked back on as the halcyon days for us Kirby fans. Little dude has had such an amazing run across those two systems.
This strategy is why I haven't bought either of the 3DS games. When they release improved versions of the mini games separately I feel like I'm being charged for what are essentially demos at that point.
I did like that 3D mini game on Planet Robobot. I might get this.
looks good but my 3ds hasn't been turned on since the switch came out.
Might pick it up if it's a $10 download, doesn't look like it has much in terms of depth or challenge.
@NickOfTime90 3 levels, 4 stages each, so 12? Assuming by stages they mean the individual parts of each level... but I think these look like longer stages too, if I remember correctly they all fit on a single screen each...
@Zoda_Fett depends how you define it. It's an expanded version of a mini game from Planet Robobot, they did that with a fighting mini game and a rhythm mini game previously. Heck, Kirby games are short so this might not be much shorter than a usual game in the series. Think of it as an eShop game though.
Looks hot
Kirby's 3D Rumble was an awesome subgame... but even by subgame standards, it was too short-lived, so I'll happily pick this one up. I do think the amiibo functionality is a bit underwhelming. A statue that does nothing, nor even appear during gameplay? Why not the costumes that appeared in Planet Robobot?
@Aerona These are side mini-games that can be completely ignored in the main game. In both Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot, I ignored the mini-games until after I already beat the game. So no, both games should not be evaluated solely on ignorable mini-games. If you like the main game, then buy it. If you only like the mini-games, buy those instead.
I love how Japanese commercials feel the need to over explain almost every aspect of a video game, just to avoid the risk of there being any confusion and the like.
I do generally love Kirby games but I'm not sure I'll pick this one up. I prefer the platformers.
A more indepth version of the pretty fun Robobot mini-game, but I only buy it if it isn't to expensive.
Please make an infographic to help me understand all of these dang Kirby games.
Of course, no European date.
Remember, this is the series that had one of its finest games, Kirby Super Star Ultra for the DS, come out one year later in the region despite being a sure-fire hit.
Hopefully the bovine fecal matter has stopped by now. I just want this game so badly.
Definitely picking this up. I've wanted to see a 3D Kirby game for years and I'd be happy to pick this up even though it's a short digital title.
The Switch really needs a full 3D Kirby game though.
Nintendo should release all Kirby's mini games to the smartphone, it's the wise thing to do: these games belong there.
I'm getting a Super Mario World 3D vibe, which isn't a bad thing.
Can't help to think of beans and farts with that title......hope it passes. Oh, no.
I will definitely be getting this. There is no such thing as too much Kirby.
@AlexSora89 6th July in Europe.
I probably won't buy it,it gives me a Kirby's Dream curse feel(which isn't a good thing).
No lie, I'm more hyped for this than Hey Pikmin.
@Randomname19
I'm glad there was no reason behind my getting mad.
Looks addictively fun. Can't wait for it.
@ShadJV ah ok so it's not just the content in robo, they'll be some more levels. Depending on the price I'll considering getting it because Kirby games are always fun.
I am beyond excited for this! Can't wait to play it! I thought this was actually going to be a surprise out now announcement at e3 but july is fine.
How the hell has 3D Kirby taken this long?
What about Europe?
