It was good news when SteamWorld Dig 2 was announced earlier this week, leading off the Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase. After the impressive success of the original a direct sequel always seemed on the cards, and over the past few years Image & Form had often suggested as much.
Now that it's out there, the studio has published an updated Engine Room video on its YouTube channel; an interesting segment tackles the 'leaked' SteamWorld Quest name from last year; it turns out the truth behind it relates to a funding application and the desire to keep the sequel as a surprise.
SteamWorld Dig 2 currently has a tentative release window on Switch for the Summer, so we'll no doubt see more of it soon.

Last time I was this early......
This site was called Nintendo Life and not Youtube.
@Fbigabig I bet your mom is real proud of ya.
Always good to hear from Allbran!
This is a must have for me! Can't wait and looks like I won't for too long!
Those guys are so cool and I love their honest, almost naive videos.
They deserve all the praise too, the games are incredible.
Definitely picking this up. I have the first one on the 3DS and PC (love that they included the soundtrack on Steam).
I think I asked these guys for Dig 2 in pretty much every comment section (once I noticed they read this site). Good job people!
Please make it a bit longer than the first game.
I've been playing the first one for a while and it's quite fun! And since I'm a sucker for female protagonists in adventure stories, I have more than one reason to be interested in the sequel.
How about a Dig/Heist/Dig2 physical release collection?
"You guys helped us.. make the best platformer... ever."
Big talk guys.
I love the original Dig, so I'm certainly excited for this. Haven't had an opportunity to try Heist yet (I blame it on my humongous backlog), but hopefully I will before Dig 2 launches.
