When the main Yo-kai Watch toy became a phenomenon in Japan, it was inevitable that The Pokémon Company would fancy a bit of the action. Z-Ring toys for Pokémon Sun and Moon effectively do just that, as large plastic wearables that light up and interact with the game. Beyond the core toy there are plenty of 'Z-Crystals' to collect, so it could be a money-spinner if it takes off; early pre-orders on Amazon in the West were positive.
A new official trailer in Japan makes a pitch for these toys, showing two young Trainers getting transported into the Pokémon world - in reality they light up a bit and trigger Z-Moves, but it's effective advertising.
Do you think these toys could be a success, or are they a gimmick that'll struggle to take off? Sound off in the comments.

Wow...
Btw, The boy and girl in Pokemon X / Y look more fashionable than Sun / Moon in my opinion.
The Z-ring looks okay, but not for me.
I'm pretty sure 80% of the kids who get these are going to be using them to play make believe Power Rangers when they're done w/ the game. The other 20% will be playing Power Rangers before playing the game. There's money in them there toys.

Wow those are big. Huh...bought one for my godson but that may be too big for him.
I think my daughter would love this if I showed it to her. Then she'd hate the vibration and run behind my back.
Back in medieval times, women wore chastity belts so they could not fornicate before marriage.
Now you just have to wear one of these watches!
I've yet to see anyone brave enough to wear the Pokemon Go watch outside. Doubtful this will take off either.
So I'm cleaning out old files on my Mac and I came across this old thing: It's some old download codes from the last Nintendo Humble Bundle. Don't have a Wii U so I couldn't use half of them.
Here are the download codes for the WiiU games and Retro City Rampage for 3DS, which I already had (these are NA codes, if that makes a difference) Hope they still work. Happy Early Christmas to all:
Affordable Space Adventures - Wii U: B0L8F57J59K4YB6F
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse - Wii U: B0L7T8QN0J2Y7T62
Freedom Planet - Wii U: B0L7LJ8V37XQQQJC
Swords & Soldiers II - Wii U: B0L66LM51XHS6Y7D
Runbow - Wii U: B0LPFKF01KDK1NGL
Retro City Rampage: DX - Nintendo 3DS: B0L8LS2S4HR9BMPY
@XCWarrior i wear pokemon go plus outside
This is just such and odd, ridiululous and goofy little product that it's actually pretty cool and will likely generate 'face palms' when we look back on it years from now. Therefore, I'm probably going to fall for it if it will fit my 47 year-old wrist.
@WitherAway Thank you. I got Shantae, Freedom Planet, and Retro City Rampage DX. Really appreciate it!
The commercial's cute - but I outgrew toys over a decade ago.
@Alpha2797 Right on! The money went to charity and I'm glad the codes won't go to waste, either.
@nintendorules I'm not saying no one is. But I haven't seen anyone do it. Though the number of POkemon Go players has gone down like 95% from the summer. I still do it on the weekends with my son, that's about it.
@XCWarrior I wear my Pokémon Go Plus whenever I leave the house. I'm also engaged and have a healthy sex life, thank you very much.
That said, I think wearing the Z-ring out and about might be a bit much even for me. Still going to buy one though.
@MarkMahzes Woah there buddy. When I play Pokemon Go, I just catch them. I don't need to know what you are doing with them.
The Pokemon Go watch is not nearly as eye catching as this Z ring thing is, as you even admit to. Maybe wear it as a choke collar? At least the furries might stay interested.
@XCWarrior My fiancé is an actual human being, thank you very much. P:
But back to the topic of the Go Plus versis the Z-Ring, I think that's part of it. The Z-ring is much more gaudy and screams 'this is a children's toy' compared to the smaller, more subtle and reserved Go Plus accessory.
@MarkMahzes She looks a whole lot like a Pirahanna Plant to me! (seriously it's Friday I"m just having fun cause I'm stuck at work and can't escape)
Yeah we agree on Z-Ring. I don't know if my 3 year old would wear it.
@XCWarrior My fiancé is a he, actually.
And no, he's not the piranha plant either.
And oddly, from what I've seen of the Z-Ring in promotional photos, it looks far too big for young children to wear. It's like they realised most of the people buying their games now are in their twenties and thirties.
I'm a grown man! I can't play with big plastic children's toys anymore.. Maybe in getting to old for Pokemon. Playing DigiMon cyber sleuth, and it's very challenging! There's cursing, and the DigiMon are kicking my ass! I love it.
@ya_boy_six You're never too old to play with big plastic children's toys!
...in private. As I said, I wouldn't wear the Z-ring in public outside of a convention or Pokémon event.
All it had to do was count steps and I would've considered it. Although seeing the size of this thing in motion, I doubt it'd fit my child-size wrists anyway so whatever.
