Long-time readers of the site will know that we covered the incredible 8Bit Music Power Famicom release a while ago and came away very impressed indeed. Essentially a chiptune album in cartridge form, it contained tracks from the likes of Hiroaki Sano, Keishi Yonao and Masahiro Kajihara and has unsurprisingly gone on to become something of a collector's item.
A book and CD combo was released alongside the cartridge in Japan, and this is soon to be available in English. Pre-orders are open on Play-Asia as we speak, and the retailer has kindly supplied the following information:
The 8Bit Music Power Book is an upcoming book & CD combo full of exclusive interviews with talented Japanese composers and video game veterans such as Takeaki Kunimoto (Star Soldier, Milon's Secret Castle), Nobuyuki Shioda (Burai Fighter, Doki! Doki! Yūenchi: Crazy Land Daisakusen), Keishi Yonao (Asuka 120%, Dies irae) etc.
Originally released in Japanese, this new edition will be fully translated to English! A perfect find for anyone looking to gain insight into the world of video games - both pixel art & music.
The 8Bit Music Power Book also comes with a CD featuring 13 different songs written by both old school enthusiasts and big names whose raw talent has stood the test of time. The team featured in 8 Bit Music Power includes talent by the likes of Yuriko Keino, Composer Omodaka (Namco Arcade Games Composer & Ape Escape) and many others.
The book itself is packed full of beautiful pixel art by Hiroshi Ono, who has has a hand in the Namco arcade pixel scene.

I preordered this back in 2016 from Play-Asia. Today I got a refund because ‘the manufacturer has stopped producing the item’.
In other words, this thing never happened at all. Pooh.
