Star Fox Zero has been out for a little while now, and as the time for bickering over its merits is over those that do like it still have some space blasting to do. It's a game that certainly encourages repeat plays and practice, and now Nintendo UK has launched a competition to up the ante.
The company is looking for an 'ace pilot', along with anyone who can accumulate a total score of over 3000. Now, to be clear, that's not a straightforward task, as even with every stage unlocked you'll need to be at the top of your game to hit that total.
Those in the UK that have the skills to beat that target can get themselves a certificate, while the top score will earn the lucky pilot the following:
- Star Fox Zero canvas print
- Fox amiibo
- Falco amiibo
- Star Fox Zero Collector's Edition Prima Strategy Guide
- Star Fox Zero T-Shirt
The contest is running until 12th June, and to enter players need to take evidence of their 3000+ score and post it on Twitter with the hashtags #StarFoxZero and #AcePilot. You can either take a photo, screengrab with a capture device or simply post a screen to Miiverse and then grab the image from the network's web-based version. The screen you want can be found by going into Main Game and then Score List.
Nintendo UK has shared some handy tips, and you can see our guides below which may help. It's a tough task, so let us know in the comments whether you'll be taking it on.

Anybody entering should stand a good chance of winning. There's not many owners of the game.
Edit: I just remembered something so I went checking their terms and conditions and sure enough there it is:
"Entry is open to residents of the United Kingdom"
Once again Ireland has been excluded from another competition. What competitions exactly are we allowed to enter? We're never allowed enter and we're not allowed buy anything from the Nintendo UK store either.
UK & Ireland. Lies!
And there's not a single shop in Ireland that'll be selling Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE: Fortissimo Edition.
Edit again: So NintendoLife have just put up a competition and guess who's excluded from entering?

That's right. Irish residents.
@ThomasBW84 @NintendoLife Why aren't we allowed enter? I've brought this up before years ago and ye said, not you specifically but ye said that ye would try and sort it out in the future.
And I must say, Nintendo broke the bank with the prizes. What do they total? €100, not even?
Why would the winning player, who has the top score, need a strategy guide?
@Bluecup sure if you win tell them you don't want it... sheesh. It's a Collectors Edition, and it's free.
They've gotta be one hell of a pilot.
I'm betting on Poe
"or simply post a screen to Miiverse and then grab the image from the network's web-based version."
What part of all of that is "simply"? And I'm assuming that doens't even include the end part where you still have to post it to Twiter?
I'm guessing this means the game doesn't have online leaderboards, b/c if it did Ntineod woudln't have to emphasize that it didn't by requesting people post things to Twitter?
OK, my usual kvetching aside, I do like the idea. Shows they haven't abandoned the game after release. And that's fairly nice collection of gifts for the top scorer.
So the usual Nintnedo I guess - 1 step forward (nice prizes for a top score), 2 steps back (no in game leaderboards and you need Twitter, not Nitneod's own social media Miiverse).
Isn't this kind of open to abuse though? You could take anyone's screenshot and post it as your own on Twitter, unless there's something to identify the user (can't remember how the screen looks). I'm sure they won't be comparing images from potentially a thousand entries to catch people out.
I'd love to win this. I'll try spinning, that's a good trick!
I've not got round to playing this game yet and I'm too busy with other games, so I'll give this a miss. Good luck to those entering.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I fully sympathise with you on this mate I think they need to fix this or change it from 'UK & Ireland', cuz it ain't. I'm from Northern Ireland so it doesn't affect me but I feel for Nintendo fans in the Republic.
"UK" I'm in the US. It's cool that you guys get to do this, though.
I'd love to be a part of this and win. Too bad I'm in the US.
Surpassed 3000, but I'm gonna try getting it higher! https://twitter.com/ridley126/status/733711177834860544
It's cool they have a high score contest, but those prizes aren't all that. Why, back the day there was the Super Starfox Weekend in the US (circa 1993). We had to play live in front of a Nintendo rep for verification. I won at my location and they gave me a flight jacket and a chance to win a trip (random drawing amongst the winners). They should do more live events outside Japan.
So, North American players do not qualify? I just reached 3169 today
@masterLEON E3 was kind of a step in the right direction with the Smash tournament and NWC2015 but it feels like with Kimishima in charge those types of things will be no more.
Also, anyone who posts a screenshot to Twitter is going to have their account taken down for copyright infringement!
Why not just do it through Miiverse and give someone free Eshop credit?
@BarryDunne Táim go maith - agus conas tá tú féin?
Wow that is a crazy score - Good luck to all who try. My Skills are not up to that what so ever. I finished the game but don't think i will dip in again, too many other games to play and too little time
